Guys, Tom loves Shiv and all, but let’s be real for a sec: He has a LOT of interest and selfish reasons for accepting everything he does from Shiv. I mean, he is power hungry, just like Marcia, but just goes for it in a more soft/funny way, I guess.
The problem with this framing is EVERYONE in the show operates in self interest and for power, so it no longer feels like a negative when applied to a character. This is why the audience roots for Kendall despite him being a selfish, entitled nepo baby.

To me the most interesting relationship in the show is Tom and shiv because she mentions that they got together when she was in a really bad place, it seems she took comfort in this older man and fell in love with him but the minute she realized he loved her and needed her so much her trauma with those things flared up and she tried to sabotage it

Matter of fact in the Emmys that got pushed back because of the strikes, she's nominated again for both Succession and Ted Lasso. At this point, I think Shiv is kinda over Nate, not because of Tom but because she's getting closer to Gil. Nate thinks he's the one in control but Shiv is the one in control there too.

I think for a lot of people criticising their love of Tom (which tbf I'm not a fan of his) need to remember I think most of us found Tom somewhat charming*ish/pitiful in season 1 and that Shiv gets most of her character development (in my opinion) from season 2 onward + they've displayed none of the sheer misogyny 90% of dude reactors have to her character. Like them loving Tom clearly doesn't mean they can't see she's smart, and competent and complex - I know we're probably all sensitive if we've watched other reactions where guys have been like what an evil b*tch but this isn't this channels vibes. At least I'm optimistic it's not gonna go that way lol
Y’all should listen to a interview with Tom’s actor too. Would give you a lot more respect for his already amazing acting because he is british as FUCK. His American accent in this is incredibly seamless
I always find it strange that the kids all have strong american accents when their mum is English and father is Scottish. Yeah, their dad has become a bit americanized but it's just another way to show how little involvement they had their parents had in their lives as children.
