It’s really important to not get tight and to not have tension. Taking any possible moment to rest and relax (even for a split second) while you’re playing can be important. Don’t “push through” tension, pain, tightness, etc…it can lead to long-term and/or permanent issues. If you do experience that kind of stuff, stop practicing/playing and figure out how to not have those things happen. As for uneven rhythms, using slow practicing techniques can be really helpful. Hi Charlie, you definitely don't know, but I've heard you play a while back in tuscon. Thanks for such a great and inspiring performance! Can you chopin's nocturne op 48 no1 or etude op 10 no 12 for me? I'm struggling with these 2 pieces and I have a competition coming soon. Thanks!
Oh wow! Yeah, I was in Tucson last year and had a blast! I'm not currently playing either of those, but if you have any questions specifically on them, I can try to help. For the nocturne, balance and playing with a pure tone can be really helpful (i.e. in the beginning). For the Revolutionary Etude, try not to get caught up too much in the whirlwind of fast notes and don't necessarily play them too metronomically (feel free to push forward a bit and take some time a bit too), and remember that the interesting part is generally the main melody...not the fast notes. Hope that's helpful! 😄

Using "slow practicing techniques" can be useful (I've got some videos in my Learn to Play playlist on this subject). You can also think of the notes in groups, noting places where the hands both play together, and trying to evenly space out the others as best you can until they next play together. Hope this is a bit helpful! Be sure to sub for more, and thanks for your support! Good luck! 😄

This etude is fore the most beautiful and sublime piece I know from Chopin. I've read somewhere that Schuman said "this is a poem, not an etude".
It is definitely gorgeous! :)

Do you have any tips for tension in the right hand, and uneven rhythm?
