  • How to use the tone shape, using the contour, solos and eq's in Boss Tone Studio. The Tone Shape feature of Tone Studio is a vital part of rounding out your tones. The addition Graphic Equalizer and Parametric EQ can really help enhance your tones and bring them alive. Below are a couple useful weblinks to help you understand and dial in your EQ's.

    This is an awesome video. Thanks. Can you do another with clean tones.... That way the settings will be clearly heard and the differences will be more apparent.

    Do you have any tips or best practices for adjusting the volume of your saved tones without affecting the tone? Some of my saved tones are really quiet, others really loud.

    • @Guitarnivore
      @Guitarnivore  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Find a comfortable level for your master volume. On .5 watts, I keep mine about 8 or 9 o'clock so I'm not disturbing everyone. Adjust the tone (amp) volume to the desired volume and save the tone to a channel and then back to the liveset.

    I guess my biggest question is if I change the global eq. Dose it keep the changes to the amp if I unplug it from the computer. And would I even need a eq pedal. I'm trying to get a metal core or metal tone by changing the eq settings

    • @Guitarnivore
      @Guitarnivore  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you set the global EQ in tone studio, Your actually setting it within the amp in realtime. So whichever color you save it to in tone studio will be the color it corelates to the amp panel and you can cycle through or turn it off from the amp once it's disconnected. As far as a metal tone goes, your options are pretty vast, but you don't need an EQ pedal. There are two 10 band eqs in the FC/Mods section as well as two eqs in the eq section. The Paramentric EQ is the game changer though. There are also several distortion options in the boosts, one of them being the Boss ML-2 metalcore pedal that you can run through the clean channel. You can also try running the crunch amp at the point of breakup and add the Guv DS or T-Scream to it to boost it, which gives a nice distortion. You also have the option of the lead and brown amp channels, which are high gain already. Check out my Tone Tutorials Playlist and you'll see quite a few artist bases tutorials and how I dial them in.

    Hey man, well done for creating so much quality content for the Katana amps! A watch all your videos and most of what I know about this amp and sound settings has a lot to do with what you do (so thanks for that! Hahah) I’ve a silly question about solo settings: As much as I know there’s a lot of personal take on it, is there any parameters or at least a base to start from in terms of % volume/gain to properly set the solo tones in order to stand out from the rest but not enough to be unpleasant to listen? I heard some people saying that solos should be around 3 to 4db louder than the normal guitar but I can’t really translate this into the amp settings. What’s your way to approach this kind of thing? I’d love your opinion about it. Thanks man! Cheers

      I Honestly don't play with the solo section much at all because I'm mainly a rhythm player due to the fact that I'm not a good guitar player.. I would play with it, maybe record a rhythm track and then have that on loop and play a lead and try to find that sweet spot where it stands out.

    Question for you: I have 8 presets. Currently, on any preset when you hold the button down it will move into boost mode but when I use Tone Studio and click on the Solo button, then the boost becomes the preset and going back to normal you have to hold the button down. It doesn't seem natural to me.

    • @Guitarnivore
      @Guitarnivore  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I'm not quite sure I follow, but when using the GA-FC, holding down the presets button on the foot controller will turn on the solo mode. I don't recall if it's the standalone solo or the solo in the boost. In tone studio the only way that it can becomes the preset is if you save it as a preset. Additionally, using the GA-FC, in FX mode you can turn the boost or any other fx/mod/delay and reverb on or off by pressing the button.

    Question what does the solo sw in the booster pedal section do then i thought it would link to the solo section of the effects when enabled....Doesn't seem like that now tho...possible fw update in future?? Is this supported??

    • @Guitarnivore
      @Guitarnivore  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The solo in the boost was the old solo option before they added the Solo option with the EQ's. It just kind of boosted the boost. It was either on or off and you couldn't toggle it with the GA-FC like you can now.

    • @sabba25
      @sabba25 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Guitarnivore It would be cool if they added more than just Solo eq and Solo delay to the Solo section...Could probably be done easily via update. like Solo Boost or Solo Contour, Solo Mod as an example

    • @Guitarnivore
      @Guitarnivore  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@sabba25 Instead of long pressing you can program the GA-FC in the system section. It's been awhile since I played with it, but with the last firmware update in January of last year they added that section and you can choose what the GA-FC buttons do when it's in function mode. th-cam.com/video/krEv_Om71WM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3TwpgQiUGiyqadO-&t=86

    What’s “amp in” and “amp out” adjusting? What does “amp in” mean?

    • @Guitarnivore
      @Guitarnivore  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So amp in means you're putting the EQ before the amp, shaping the guitar EQ before the preamp, usually after the boost or other mods you might have before the amp. Amp out means it's in the FX loop, therefore EQ'ing your entire signal before it hits the speaker. I usually use which ever one sounds best to me, but I'm sure there is more science to it. The EQ in the MOD/FX section, can be before or after the amp, depending how you FX chain is set up.

    I have tried so many different videos of yours and i never can replicate your sound in the slightest. It always sounds completely off on my katana. Im using a ltd-EX200 with it. Maybe you know something more? Am i missing something critical?

    • @Guitarnivore
      @Guitarnivore  ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you have the global EQ on? Also if you're playing from the speaker, it's going to sound slightly different than my tutorial tones, especially if you have the mk2 50. I try to get them to sound about the same playing through the speaker as it does using the phones out/rec.
