My sister passed away January 22, 2014 and since then this song has taken on a whole new level of meaning. If I find my own way through life, how much will I find her? I will find her everywhere, because she will forever live in my heart, Even though I miss her still and at times I'm not sure anymore what it's all for, I won't give up because I know I will find her again someday.

Michael Stipe does not have a conventionally good singing voice, but given the context of his music and the context of this song, it fits so well. His voice has weight and gravitas; it carries the stains of the miles traveled through all manners of mistake and redemption. All due respect in the world to the original and nothing against Chris Martin, but to me, every time Stipe sings the word "Always" it is utterly shattering.
I don't know, but I honestly prefer this version than that of Joseph, Chris's voice is so perfect it makes me more like this version, do not know if I'm the only one.
If you like this song, look into Joseph Arthur. It’s his originally. He has many incredible albums. Start with redemptions son. I have been a huge fan of Joseph Arthur for years and have been meaning to listen to this version for a long time. Really incredible to see so many artists covering or remaking this

I first heard Peter Gabriel's version and would play it on repeat. It's one of Joseph's best, for sure. When this version was released as a fundraiser single, I was excited. It didn't thrill me like I wanted, but with some distance, I appreciate it more.

I found this version after just watching Saved again after a long time. My younger brother died about a year ago after years of struggling (RIP Zander Truesdell Field 🙏). I still break down fairly often, and fall on my knees begging God for sympathy. If anyone reading this has lost someone, and to everyone else, may God’s love be with you. Don’t ever take your loved ones for granted or pull away when they are in a vulnerable position. I ignored my brother’s last phone call to me. He had a lot of problems and I felt we both needed a bit more space. The last 6 months of his life I pulled away a bit. Talking once a week instead of daily, that sort of thing.) and I would give anything to talk to him one more time, let alone see him again. The image of his name flashing on my phone while I let it go to voicemail haunts me. The phone call I got 3 or 4 days later from my Dad telling me the terrible news made me fall to the ground and just wish I kept falling through the Earth and beyond. Let me tell you, tragedy doesn’t always pull the survivors closer.
