Game Room reviews Pokémon Pinball for Game Boy Color which is one of the rare Gamboy games that uses a AAA battery inside the game to power RUMBLE!!! Enjoy this pinball videogame on your Game Boy Color as it shakes and vibrates when the pokeball pinball thing hits bumpers and slams into Pokemon collecting them. This CGR video review of Pokemon Pinball for Nintendo Gameboy Color has gameplay from Pokemon Pinball on Game Boy Color showing Pokemon game videogame game play in HD action from Game Boy Advance SP.
this game was one of my favorites as a kid!
"When i catch pokemon, i use chroroform and a shotgun" 🤣🤣🤣
The bump function has no negative effect in this game, so feel free to spam it when it goes down to the bottom. It's saved my ass several times.
Excuse me for replying to a NINE YEAR OLD comment...but... I am a grown ass 31 year old man. I had Pokemon Pinball back when it first came out. I've been playing it lately too.
I had no idea that nudging had no negative effects. Just about every pinball game I've ever played will yell at you if you nudge too often, so I tend to not do it much. I simply never tried spamming it because I assumed I'd get yelled at and lose a ball.
Miss all that this once was so much....
Oh dear god. Nostalgia is through the roof. This was the very first video game I ever owned not counting PC games. I got this along with my GBC for my 7th birthday in 1999... wow. Watching this makes me really want to play it again, even though that desire is fueled by nostalgia alone. This review will have to suffice. Thank you Mark for reviewing this pivotal cornerstone of my personal gaming history and of my childhood in general.
I remember playing and loving this game as a little kid. Ah, memories. :3
I remember this when it came out. Great game. Fun memories.
I bought it new when it came out. The only reason I bought it was because I like pinball games.
I remember when this came out... still one of the best GBC games out there.
man, the memories from when i was a kid. Thanks for bringing them back Mark.
oh wow i remember getting this game for Christmas as a kid, good memories ;)
Whaaaaat. I'm a huge pinball fan and I'm obsessed with this game. Oh well
@g0uveia1 It's closer to +1, it's kinda weird how the multiplier works.
Finally! You must do a Pokemon review series please. Pokemon on the Gameboy Color was by far the best games they ever made for it!
I used to love this game when I was 7 or something :)
Howcome everyone talks about real pinball machines as though they had analog buttons for the flippers? Almost every pinball machine I've ever seen just has concave arcade buttons that activate the flippers using a digital switch.
*Cartridge rumbles
*Shakes loose, falls to the ground, breaks
*Nintendo sells more copies
PROFIT
Oh the good ol' Pokemon days... when didn't get their designs from little children that ate crayons and shat them out.
@Millahtime Some pinball flippers are "analog" they have 2 stage presses, a lighter tap will activate the first stage but a harder tap will active the second stage. These pinball machines are usually not your cheap ones.
JUST AFTER 14 YEARS I GOT THIS DAMN SONG OUT OF MY HEAD. NOW IT'S BACK. THANKS MARK.
This was my first gameboy color game that I got back in elementary school. So many memories XD
this is the first game i ever got in my life!!! I LOVE IT
Ah, I remember this one! Great fun back in the day. IIRC Perfect Dark on the GBC had the rumble feature aswell.
Funnily enough, though the sequel to this game, Pokémon Pinball Ruby & Sapphire did not have a rumble function in the cartridge, it would make your Gamecube controller rumble if you played it with the Game Boy Player!
@dropkickpikachu old school pinball machines didn't have "analogue" buttons in the modern sense, they had mechanical buttons, so literally how hard you jammed the button was how fast the flipper moved. Not sure how modern machines handle it, though
This is the first game I got for my GBC. I have never been a Pokemon fan, but I am a pinball fan, and I've always loved this game.
I remember playing this on my friend Game boy non-stop! That boss battle with Meow was so Epic!
"when you push the button to activate the flipper it's all or nothing" yes welcome to pinball
I still LOVE this game. Had it when it came out and keep it in my drawer of special things.
I had this on my game too on my game boy color. It was one of the few pokemon games I actually liked playing. What I never realized until now at 4:11 is that the music playing on that table is the Japanese intro theme song to the Pokemon Anime.
You didnt even show a bonus stage!
That was the funnest part about this game! RAWR!
This brings back some memories.
I remember that GBC game really well. I used to have it when I was a kid. I got it along with Nintendo Game Boy Color for Chrimbo in 2000 when I was ten years old but I sadly I decided to get rid of it by giving away for the charity at age 15 in August 2005.
I never beat the game and completed the Pokédex. Some boss stages I never made it to either.
I thought I found it too hard and frustrating 😤 for myself as well. I'm sure it's probably one of the hardest GBC games ever played.
Anyway, greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
@torchicbattles Yeah! And it also works with the original Game Boy because it has that little area where the thing on the power switch goes.
Thanks Mark. Your review made me buy this game. IT'S AWESOME!
@hipoisawesome it mean when you hit a bumper or something like that it shakes in your hand
wow it was one of my favorite games back then
WOW, i used to LOOOOVE this game!
Oh I remember playing this when I was a kid!
I loved this game as a kid. :3
I still have this game, and it is still very fun. :)
ONE OF TWO BEST GAMES ON GBC :) thx for reviewing this hidden gem Mark ;) such a great stress reliever as PeanutButterGamer said
You didn't mention that on different locations, there are different Pokemon to catch. Also: Minigames. Also: An actual Pokedex that keeps track of your caught/evolved Pokemon.
LOL. Music on BLUE table is Mesaze Pokemon Master, first Japanese Pokemon theme song (Opening)
The normal blue table theme is kinda cool cuz its actually Ecruteak City from GSC. Pokemon Pinball came out before GSC though, technically making Ecruteak City theme a remix of Blue Table theme.
Oh and theres a raceing game, something with mini monster trucks, that uses a battery in the game pack as well. its for game boy
Perfect Dark for the GBC also needed a battery for it's rumble feature
"Personally, when I capture Pokemon, I use chlorophorm and a shotgun..."
That makes the "Pokemon Master" title take a whole different meaning, uh?
It would be awesome. xD
I had this gameboy color game that had the in built rumble pack! it was a rally game (can't remember the name)
@AjMannpie Yes, you can play all gameboy games on gameboy advance!
@shadowblade145 He used that theme in the old Public acess shows? I dont remember
In the blue table the original japanese anime theme is played.
I love that song!
I totally forgot I had this game! Imma play it now!
@Theriot6592 Considering Mark has only recently started playing the main Pokemon series, I would guess that:
A) He knows about Steelix, but doesn't realize it's not in this game, or
B) He just guessed that Onix could evolve in this game, when you consider he hasn't really memorized all the Pokemon.
I used to love this game.
My favorite pinball video game was Sonic Spinball for the genesis. It was awesome. :D
Beautiful music, too.
There was also Rumble Race Topgear Rally with built-in vibration
thank you for reminding me of my first childhood game :')
Pokemon Blue,Red,Yellow,Silver and Gold was the bomb. That what i play when I was a kid.
I still play this all the time on my translucent purple gameboy color. Though contrary to the review, I am a pinball buff and favor this game as one of my all time favorites.
Prof Oak: Hey Ash. What does your pokedex say about the number of existing pokemon?
Ash & Dexter: THEY'RE OVER SIX HUNDRED!!
Prof Oak: WHAT?! SIX HUNDRED?!
you should do a review on pokemon blue, yellow, and ref
@dropkickpikachu I don't know. I've never seen a pinball machine that has analog
Yes, that would be awesome to see...
Perfect Dark, there's also a rumble pack in it and requires additional battery.
still have mine from when I was a kid, still works
Man, Super Mario Deluxe was one of my favorite Gameboy Color games. THAT was a good remake, I'd rebuy that any day. I hope Nintendo takes that to heart and releases it on the 3DS eShop at an acceptable price.
why do you hate pokemon
I used to have this game, it was awesome
onix dose evolve just not in the orginal cannon, which is what this game is based on
This is the game my parents got my with my very first Gameboy, the Colour, obviously. They ended up playing, enjoying, and beating this game more than me. I was content with my Blue version instead. XD
I had this game when it first came out. And now it feels like I'm the only who has it.
This was for the original Gameboy... I used to play the same cartridge on my original Gameboy when I was younger
Mark, it's actually a Game Boy game, you can play it on the original game boy, unlike some Game Boy Color games.
its not the only one thats need a extra battery, a star wars racer game came out that also had the same feature, maybe reiew that
I used to love this game :)
No, I can't feel the vibrations.
You don't say...
i usually just put food on really sticky adhesive to catch pokemon, way less bloody
Oh, I have once ordered it by post with Gameboy Color - it got lost :
One fateful evening, I lost this game along with my Gameboy in the snow. The following day I found it again. Game and Gameboy still work to this day. Nintendo quality, guys.
I love this game :D I've got it for my GBC, which is hanging around somewhere at my parents' house... I need to go and get that someday. I actually thought it was very playable, but that's probably because I played it A LOT.
I still have this game... I beat the world record, but I only noticed it 5 years later...
Do you really need to put in a battery? ;-;
Like I don't really need it to rumble.. ;A;
Lol at the shotgun joke
This was the first video game my dad bought me, I was so pissed because he didn't buy me Pokemon red or blue. But I grew to love this game eventually. And now it's all nostalgia :/
"Personally when I catch pokemon I use chloroform and a shotgun". I laughed so hard at that.
Star Wars Racers uses that cartridge as well!
Star Wars Arcade for GBC requires the battery as well
@alonmania No rumble.
I STILL HAVE THIS GAME!
the flashing from the top of the board to the bottom hurts my eyes,...but I love pikachu!
@magellanicfall You're not the only one :) I remember being alone in the playground with my game boy and playing this game a lot. Not the most popular person, but a happy one...
does it work with the gameboy pocket?
This really needs a 3DS remake or sequel. It might be a flawed pinball game but it's still easily one of the best Pokemon spin-offs ever made.
I have the remake game, the one for ruby and sapphire.
i loved the ruby/saphire version. that one was really fun... and it pissed me off sooo much. I was never one to throw my controllers/games across the room, so whenever i would lose I would substitute throwing, with slapping the closest thing to me, which is my leg.
i just felt a massive wave of nostalgia smack me in the face when i watched this, its been at the very least, 11 years since ive played this. back then i wasnt concerned with accuracy, i just wanted to hit the ball around (no pun intended)
I have the ruby and sapphire pinball game and I love it.
Cool game. Funny & informative review.
The blue table has the original first anime opening soundtrack (the japanise one)
Never owned this game myself, but I played on my friend's copy all the time! Twas epic! Never tried the rumble feature though :(
