    Previously on Boosted Media we took a detailed look and shared our experience with the Simucube ActivePedals. While the ActivePedals proved to be very cool when used for all three pedals it is clear that the real benefits are primarily for the Brake pedal.
    While the Simcube Throttle is much cheaper than the ActivePedal, it is still quite expensive for a single throttle pedal, so our expectations are very high when it comes to build quality, adjustability, and driving experience.
    Let's take a look and see how it stacks up!

    There's an api in the works that should allow for the active pedals to dynamically change the amount of pressure needed, and the throw based on the car you're driving, for all three pedals.

    will just a question could you in theory add say a soft rubber bushing/spacer say about 3/16" thick to where the throttle shaft attaches to the backside of the pedal and could that help with the noise of the pedal including the explosive release? looking at it from my POV watching the video you could add/take some preload out of it to where it feels comfortable again for the user's driving setup

    Great video as always Will.
    I was one of the first to try the active pedal at Nuremburg sim expo back in 2022. I knew within minutes of trying a throttle and brake setup that the throttle feedback was nonsense, it just felt so unnatural. The ABS feeling though was a different story so i’m totally aligned with your opinions on that.
    Regarding the noisy passive pedal, I think if you stuck a foam washer in front of the teflon piece and one on the throw adjuster that might do the job? Worth a quick mock up to see what you think. Regards, Pete

Ive been eyeing up the sc2 pro for a few YEARS but i always kinda think what if i buy it now for that huge price and then they bring out a newer version. At the same time all the competition seems to be a step behind but there is almost no one that has tried multiple dd bases of the caliper.

    It would potentially reduce a little bit of the pedal travel, but a small rubber washer on that shaft at the plunger could significantly reduce that bang noise when you let off. a quick re calibrate and done. even a simagic elastomer or two. they about the right size by eye and likely very durable.

    Given Simucube has adapters available for the Heusinkveld Sprint pedals to not only mount, but even communicate through their software, what do you think about this throttle vs the Sprint? Basically the two options there for a 3-pedal setup would be to get the 2-pedal Simucube and the Sprint add-on clutch pedal, or to get the full Sprint set along with the single ActivePedal. You'd be wasting the Sprint brake in that case, but given the cost of the Simucube throttle, it's not all that much more expensive.

    Real cars afaik use potentiometers or Hall effect sensors so I dont understand why having anything different on the sim, a load cell just feels like a more expensive choice with no benefits (and maybe even drawbacks?).

    Jeez louise you got something like 7k invested in a pedal set that's insane i couldn't do it im quite happy with my Moza CRP pedals the only pedals ive used that cost more are Heusinkveld ultimate pedals theyre cool but still not quite worth that price and no i sure do not see those active pedals being worth thousands i think the only reason they cost so much is because simucube is the only company making a active pedal stop they gotta that market cornered and can change what ever they want simucube is awesome ive used a simucube 2 pro it's awesome but doesn't cost anywhere near what those active pedals cost

      I don’t think anyone’s saying it has to have one. I certainly don’t see it as an advantage in any way. Gets the job done cheaply just like a Hall effect sensor or rotary pot.

      @02bluehawk 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yea I'm right there with you makes zero sense to me why pedal manufacturers are spending all this money to rnd different throttle pedals when the pedal in cars is simply 2 potentiometers and a spring. The dual potentiometer system is so that the car can logic between the 2 to confirm pedal position with out fault.
      Oem throttle pedals are around 100usd and work with a 5v reference so I don't understand why sim companies wouldn't just use them.

      @@02bluehawk There is way more slop in cheap OEM pedals than a SIM pedal. Imagine trying to constantly adjust the deadzone out.

    • @02bluehawk
      @02bluehawk 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @DDuck777 in my 15 years as an automotive technician, shop manger, and now shop owner I've replaced maybe 5 throttle pedals that have failed/weren't reading correctly. The "slop" you may be referring to is usually programming on the engine management software to provide a smother/slower power delivery as well as sitting at idle parked the throttle blade it's self is partially open to maintain idle (usealy around 10-15%) so throttle peddle doesn't really do much at for 10-15% of the throw at idle because of that. The engine management software has a curve on the throttle based on load, speed, what gear you are in, as well as many other factors. But the pedal it's self is extremely precise and accurate

    • @boostedmedia

    I always wonder.. you keep saying that you give your objective honest opnion on products.
    But how can you be objective when you have affiliate links for a lot of these products. That means that you as a company still benefit from people buying these products, which in turn means there can never be a 100% objective opinion right?
