Met a random player the other night, helped him fight off some pirates that was after him, he hops on his mic and says "Hi and Thanks" I told him no problem and he lingered a bit longer then warped out... I know not where! I was zoned out on building a base on one of the moons of the system, flying to the space station to sell some things... and suddenly there is another random player in the system. I thought immediately after the encounter that I hoped he decided to stick close to the cluster of stars I was in so that at some point in the future he gets the chance to rescue me from pirates, at the same time I was glad he didn't stay in the same system because of why I love No Man's Sky... Solitude! I really like the idea that everyone is in the same universe now, and multiplayer is definitely a plus for me... at the same time... I'm building a fleet, cuz NO ONE invades my space lol! If the guy had asked I would have given him fuel or supplies, even sheltered him and let him hang out for a while. but I am also conflicted because I am attached to this system and I feel like it is MY system... That experience for me was golden... had me thinking about all kinds of things, Excited that I actually seen someone, Sad that someone found out my home system, happy that I was able to help them, conflicted about them maybe staying... it was strange...

To me, the multiplayer was never the end game, what turned me off was the end game, it was so tedious to make warp cells and just warp all day and there just wasn't enough inventory space and not enough elements in the universe to feel like one. At launch the world didn't feel as compelling, the ore stood in giant stacks out of the ground and something was missing. I still don't understand fully what that was but somehow they figured it out because this game is now the best thing I have ever put my hands on. It might not be everyone's cup of tea but it is all I am ever going to drink from now until eternity and I am going to love every last sip. I feel sorry for the people who feel too burned to come back, this game is a full 180 from what it was. It is truly a revolution in gaming.

I don't see how you can be a modern gamer and NOT understand that games can be vastly different a year or two later than they were at launch. The capacity for change is virtually endless. When a developer sticks with a project and offers free updates this vast as far as two years out, you have to at least respect that. I compare it to EA jettisoning Mass Effect: Andromeda mere months after launch. Offering maybe a handful of patches, no expansion whatsoever and just damning it outright. I didn't care for that game when I first played it. They've changed nothing. There's no reason for me to pick it up again.
Warframe was like that in the beginning but the developers also made a huge comeback with so much more material. So I’m not surprised developers can still improve their game after release. More bang for your buck. It’s also the same with other great titles nothing wrong with improving the games experience developers make mistakes.

But I've seen xenobiologist documentaries about how life outside of earth is either A: just like us. Or B: seemingly randomly generated mutated monsters But that's just a theory. a space theory

If you join a friend and visit the space station in their home galaxy, you can the go into a solo game and teleport back to that space station and be in their game. You will see their position and see and see an orb as their character. From what I can tell you can have an infinite number of friends live in your galaxy from doing this.
Sea of Thieves is a game I'll come back to in a year or two. They add free content but it can usually be finished in a few days. It'll be much more refreshing to return later on when it has a ton of new content to explore and find. It's a similar situation to No Man's Sky
Multiplayer is just a free way to get to other systems. Considering you can add an inventory slot to your Exo suit at each space station this becomes the cheapest way to do just that.
Additions that should happen: .Ships that require multiple people to crew .Capital Ships .Player made factions .mmo style game like eve online or something
They need a ship crafting mechanic. Certain parts weigh a certain amount. Engines, warp-drives and anti-grav have weight and speed limitations. All parts are damageable, but some are stronger than others. You can also remove a part of the ship when it becomes too damaged and/or you can't repair it, making the ship lighter at the expense of the discarded part.
The mechanic is there but minor, when you enter the black hole or gunned down, some of your part will be broken and you need to fix it. Well, the weight to your inventory seems a good idea.
For all those whining about the bugs after the Next update, so far there have been at least 4 patch installs on my game. How do I know? Because my launch icon is not in the default location on my desktop, it's in my games folder. 4 times I have spotted a new launch icon appearing on my desktop. I have a PC and a GOG version, and yes I know about the multiplayer issue on GOG. That isn't much of an issue to me, and I'm patient enough to Wait as HG have promised a fix. Given the way they set out to fix everything else, they get the benefit of the doubt this time around, from me.

Removing the geotag of online players (overhead name and player icon) would make a player encounter much more thrilling! Furthermore, it can help create more realistic battle scenarios in PVP. Since, as of now, a player cannot escape the sights of an online attacker, which is ridiculously frustrating for the victim. This overall leads to stale multiplayer gameplay. If a player wants to be found he could activate a beacon on himself, which would enable his overhead name to be displayed to all so that his friends and others can find him but leaves himself vulnerable for others to attack him. This would be a similar concept of coop and PVP used in the successful Dark Souls series. In addition, a player's overhead geotag should come up if the sentinels are hostile towards the player, and the sentinels could place a bounty on the player for others to collect. The PVP component is an integral part of an online open world game because the hunt of man is the greatest hunt of all. The challenge of PVP and the satisfaction of victory that comes with it makes any PVE experience trivial. However, it is important to attach meaning to these PVP encounters to make it an enjoyable experience. Making PVP encounters meaningful requires good incentives for killing an online player: collecting a bounty, collecting their loot, and destroying their freighter to collect their cargo loot.
Any plans for this to be massive scale multiplayer? And giant scale PvP where you can have huge space and planetary battles and shit using the items you find? Ability to loot people's items? Form alliance groups etc?
I like the new elements table. Some things add an extra step but the elements involved are on every planet... so no more touching down and never being able to leave... same with getting out of a system
to find buried treasure just ask for derections to local npcs and when they mark monolith down for you go there . there will be two option one will give coordinate to ruin with treasure. this are different than normal ruins. this are half buried ones.
How the fuck is no one complaining about the issue where if you fly and land on a planet, you have to refuel your starship even when it's half way full. You have to do that EVERY SINGLE TIME you land (except at a space station, you can land as many times as you want there for whatever reason), and it's sooooo annoying and tedious. If you fully refuel your ship, you can only land on planets 2 times per landing. After that you have to keep grinding till you can refuel again. It's too fucking annoying. I don't want to have to constantly keep refueling my ship every time I land if I have my ship refuel half way or fully, I should be able to land way more than just once or twice before having to refuel.

The rarer the element is the more chromatic metal it makes in a refiner. Those elements being copper, emeril, cadmium, and indium. Indium being the rarest.
For me it's got a big potential. I've not played it before and it feels like my childhood space adventure dreams. Hope they will be adding more content and updates to keep mw going.

Ought it about 5 days ago, and yes I’ve played it everyday since for most of the day, I’m enjoying it a lot, but there feels like there is so much missing, and so much yet for them to add, I really hope they continue to update it consistently because with more content and improvements and features this game could be amazing.

I love exploring things with my buddy and grinding from absolutely nothing to feeling like the general of the galactic empire together. This game needed multiplayer because who wants to just grind by themselves and never be able to show off or share the things they worked for?

I found ruins where you had to dig up keys to open a large chest with a relic that was worth a lot of credits, that's what they were talking about. There's the ruins with no treasure just words to learn
I've played with my wife for about 35 hours now and that's from last week Thursday. Multiplayer was a great idea. For people that don't like it, they can turn it off.
1: Make a game where you can't see yourself. 2: Add 3rd person camera 2 years later. Which takes less than a day to do. 3: Fool everyone into thinking you made a new game.

This game has definitely not redeemed itself yet. There are still things that can be improved, fixed, and tweaked to make the game better, and more enjoyable. As it stands the game is closer to what it was promising, and aspiring to become. It's not there yet.

Play the game, you wouldn't want to fly these things lol you'd pass a planet up and be stuck in space for hours lol, the warping is fine especially since you can warp while inside of them lol
they can be moved at will, almost anywhere in the game. And you can warp them into different systems, with multiple players onboard (which saves warp cells for people tagging along). You can stand on the bridge and get a real-time view of space, ships landing on the freighter and even see details on planet surfaces. The lore is that there is an NPC pilot, you're just the commander. Don't knock it until you've tried it, I think its dope.
Basically NEXT adds what Hello Games promised to add, but Sony didn’t give them enough time to add.

Fly to space, look around on your UI for an orange hex icon, with a target in it. That's the space station!

I've played with my wife for about 35 hours now and that's from last week Thursday. Multiplayer was a great idea. For people that don't like it, they can turn it off.

50 hours into the game, can already tell I'm ahead of these GameSpot guys in knowledge.
1: Make a game where you can't see yourself.
2: Add 3rd person camera 2 years later. Which takes less than a day to do.

Barren isn't really the right word. Also, if you look at old sci-fi productions, most space exploration was done alone. That's what they originally wanted to capture.

@Rexify TV, but when i see the interviews with Sean Murray all i see is him hyping up the game and lying about things people can do when in fact all the could do was walk around, fly and farm minerals and shit just to repeat that... Sure games get hyped all the time but about 90% of the things that Sean said (and he said alot) were just lies nothing more and you could tell from the look on his face that he was bullshitting us.

This game has definitely not redeemed itself yet. There are still things that can be improved, fixed, and tweaked to make the game better, and more enjoyable. As it stands the game is closer to what it was promising, and aspiring to become. It's not there yet.
Dorks the game will never be perfect or finished! Its a game that can be added to forever kinda like minecraft. Thats what makes it great.

Terence Caron I dont understand what people do not get about that. They lied about the game they were releasing, released pretty much an alpha, and released more updates later on, seems like No Man's Sky was just early access. When it first released imo it was great, and its just better now. (Could go without the multiplayer imo, its supposed to be a lonely feeling)

Play the game, you wouldn't want to fly these things lol you'd pass a planet up and be stuck in space for hours lol, the warping is fine especially since you can warp while inside of them lol
they can be moved at will, almost anywhere in the game. And you can warp them into different systems, with multiple players onboard (which saves warp cells for people tagging along). You can stand on the bridge and get a real-time view of space, ships landing on the freighter and even see details on planet surfaces. The lore is that there is an NPC pilot, you're just the commander.
Don't knock it until you've tried it, I think its dope.
Let's not jump to conclusions yet, they still have a long way to go.
