Established in 1951, NAS Cubi Point played a pivotal role in the Vietnam War, offering logistical support and strategic advantages for American forces. With its strategic location overlooking Subic Bay, NAS Cubi Point provided a crucial vantage point for monitoring activities in the region. The base was also home to numerous aircraft squadrons and naval units, bolstering the US military presence in Southeast Asia.

After being handed back to the Philippine government in the early 1990s, NAS Cubi Point has since been repurposed for commercial and recreational use. Today, visitors can explore the remnants of this historic base, including aircraft hangars, barracks, and other infrastructure that tell the story of its military past.

Great stuff. I started hearing about Cubi when I first entered the Navy in 1981. Arrived there for the first time with VP-4, a P-3 squadron, in 1983. Great memories. Thanks for sharing!

I was stationed in Cubi in 1991. There was a "No Jogging after Dark - Monkeys" sign on the base. 😂
