- So after still here I felt that I needed to go back and revisit Kindred Lore as I don't think I did it justice the first time! So today I am revisiting the lore and kindred, reacting to it and breaking it down as well as making links to the Still Here cinematic! Don't forget if you enjoy the video to like and subscribe! The gray man/pale man, as Lamb herself says, is the first death. He was alone since the end of existence, and since he was the one who transfers people to the other world when they take their last breath, no one liked him.
Because he, as a separate death, represented the loss of a loved one.
So that he wouldn't use the ax {"sword blades"} himself, with one cut he divided his entity into two Aspects of death, a direct and almost painless death of a Sheep & a slow & bloody death of a Wolf.@@georgieegames
I don't think it is that extreme. Lamb has a couple of quotes when asking questions or not understanding things. To me it is more like Lamb doesn't have feelings but can understand them, and Wolf has feelings but can't understand them.

That makes sense, the lamb seems like the guiding force, has more logic and wisdom where as the wolf is more instinctual and emotional! Such a cool dynamic
YES! This was the quote I was trying to think of when it came down to emotions between the 2 of them.
The 'Forged in a land unwelcome to us' is talking about the item the 'Blade of the Ruined King' which makes sense since Viego is technically part of the mist/Shadow Isles and thus cannot die/has no real death. The child woven across countless almost-lives is referring to Ekko and how many times he's almost died and 'rewound'.
The blade was forged in Camavor, another continent, "foreign" to the culture of runeterra and thus, Lamb and Wolf are not very known in that continent as a whole (tho some people still knows them as tales, but still, Lamb and Wolf don't usually go to those lands)

Oh NICE hahaha yeah I felt that the previous version didn't really get to deep delve into the known lore about kindred so I have been wanted to revisit it for a while and this was the perfect chance really :)
Some answers/clarifications:
Kindred isn't always the one who deliver the kills they're more like the concept of death and some who believe kindred to be Lamp and Wolf see them at the end of their life as they're the ones who deliver the killing blow when in reality it could be something different. An example of this is the scene with Yasuo in "Still here" where the arrow that transitions the scene is suppose to represent lambs arrow while not actully being fired by lamb herself.
From my own interpretation the "gray" man who split himself in two (Black wolf and White Lamb) is the previous incarnation of death.
18:00 Kindred doesn't need food as they will exist as long as there are people who can die and believe in the concept of death.
@@Jothun i've just accepted kindred as killing someones spirit or soul while their body dies from whatever other reason, so for example while yasuo dies from the barrage of arrows, his soul is taken by lambs arrow
The etherfiend is another representation of death, that is being forgotten. Representations like Kindred only die when no one remembers them, and once they are forgotten, the etherfiend claims them as kindred claim the living, that's why he is quite ominous when talking to them.
As I remember, Kindred isn`t just the god of Death (masked). If you remember Fiddlesticks, Shaco, Evelynn, Tahm Kench and others (some are not realized yet), they are demons born from each aspect - Fiddlesticks from doom, Nocturne from nightmare etc. And there was a Greyman. And if Fiddlesticks meet Kindred he says "Greyman". So he lives in them (I think). So when Etherfiend collects Kindred, Wolf and Lamb, then will reborn and collect the Etherfiend. Greyman will collect all that is left of the dying planet and then he will die too. Greyman was one of the demons but always was different from them.
I think in the future there will be realised new demon, which is one of the most powerful beings in Runeterra. The key that Zoe stole

Not just that, it's "prophesized" that when Lamb and Wolf are forgotten they will battle each other and Etherfiend will eat what's left.
@@LDDeath actually no there are several aspects of death and all of them were created by the Mask Mother, when Kindred is gone she'll make a new one.

Lamb comes across as gentle because she is there for those who embrace and accept their death while Wolf is the one who brutally gives chase to those stubbornly clinging on to life or running from death
In Kindred's story, the "pale man" is them before they split into two.. they're the death symbol in Runeterra and kind of Yin and Yang as well.. there's darkness in the Lamb and light in the Wolf. Lamb gives the ones that accept death a painless passing and Wolf brutally murders those who run from death. One is deaf, the other can't see. One can understand emotions, but can't feel, the other can feel, but can't understand.

The last bit of main kindred lore you missed was a short story called "A Good Death" A young actress from a traveling theatre troupe known for performing "death plays" that feature The Kindred as a prominent character comes across Kindred while camping between towns. They toy with and ask her who she would choose to take her before revealing they hadn't come for her but will meet her one day, much later. I recommend reading it cause it shows off more of their personality, banter, and the theatrical rapport they have showing how classical theatre was also a major inspiration for the designs. Also Necrit has a great video explaining the Legends of Runeterra interactions if you want more clarity about the other death gods in the world.
In the cinematic still here people don't seem to understand that tryndamere was not actually fighting kindred. It's more of a metaphor. Because tryndamere was about to be killed by the soldiers that he was fighting against which is why he was on the ground surrounded by the soldiers in the beginning of the cinematic. So tryndamere thought that he was going to die so in his mind he saw kindred the spirit of death that have come to claim his soul but tryndamere was not ready to die just yet so in his mind he thought that he was fighting kindred but in actuality he was just fighting with the soldiers. This was all explained by a writer from riot that was explaining what was going on in the cinematic because a lot of people were confused about what was happening in the cinematic. So yeah the fight with kindred never actually happened it was all in tryndamere's head.
I disagree, after kindred disappears, you can still see Wolf's scratch marks on Trynda's shoulder armor.
It was sort of both. While he was in the death realm and fighting Kindred, he was also fighting those bandits at the same time.
The damage physical damage to his armor could have also been from the bandits

A writer from riot has already confirmed that the fight with kindred never actually happened and it was all a delusion in Tryndamere's mind caused by a blow on the head he suffered from one of the bandit's. This was why he was laying on the ground in the beginning of the cinematic. This is when he began to see kindred in his mind because of the blow he got on his head and being surrounded by the soldiers he thought he was going to die and since he actually had a ran into kindred before when Attrox nearly killed him and kindred appeared to him then. So he imagined that kindred had appeared to him again now but Tryndamere refused to accept death and die so he got back up and started to fight kindred but in actuality he was just fighting the bandits but in his delusional state he thought that he was fighting kindred. Pay attention to tryndamere's reaction when he sees ash. He is shocked to see her like he just woken up from a dream because in a way he had. And yes the damage on his body and armor was from the battle with the bandits.
As they are death as ordained by fate, I don't think it's fair to say that those like Gangplank "got away". It simply means it wasn't their time yet. Similarly those of the Shadow Isles didn't "get one over" Lamb and Wolf, they're just delaying the inevitable.
That's the whole point of the Still Here cinematic, Lamb and Wolf weren't physically there against Tryndamere, they were a representation of his struggle to stay alive against the raiders, since the red eyes meant he was using his Ultimate which allows him to stay alive for a while by making his health unable to go below a certain amount through sheer rage. That's why it all faded when Ashe came to his rescue

I still think they're one of the cutest champions in League. I mean, sure, they represent death, but there's something just adorable in their (potential) origin story of them literally being made to be each other's forever friend and Wolf's childish behavior. All of their "Lamb, tell me a story" interactions always make me go awww.
What is also interesting about Kindred, right now she is the only character in game who have voicelines when being "gray screened"(dead): The lines about "Pale man", "awakening from slumber", "asking about what it is to meet end". My guess is that it was made to show that they are beyond concept of "Death", more like being temporarily chased away.

There is another story for Kindred, a little bit longer but I think it's well worth the read. If you liked what you read here so much you're gonna love this one aswell. It's kind of a bummer because it's kind of hidden in their page so a lot of people miss it, but I think it's the best of the three there is. It's called "A Good Death", I understand you wouldn't make another video just reacting to that one story though, but I'd at least like to hear your opinion on it somewhere sometime, cheers!

20:28 You say its untrue that none are no match for wolf bcs of what tryndamere did in the cinematic, but tryndamere merely survived death (partly due to the darkin blood corsing his veins.) Even he will eventually die. None are an exception. Everyone will meet Kindred. Doesn't even matter if they're from the shadow isles or a diety/god-like being like Aurelion Sol, either.

In legend of runeterra, they tell that doesn't have only one death, but they are many and the tale that forgotten will be eaten by Etherfiend that mean even death may die if they are forgotten, so that why fading icon talk to prey that, you must know me little one, you must. that can tell that he almost forgotten, he want to stay longer and that can tell "death have fear", kindred story is a legend that across runeterra, so they doesn't worry much for now, but the day that all will be forget will come like when Etherfiend tell kindred that "they need not know... yet" that mean one day that day will came, but not now that their tales have remember across runeterra
When she says “if it draws breath it meets us” and you reply with “not everyone” I mean,they eventually will die… all of them. Even if it means reality will end eventually there will be no1 left but Kindred so they will claim everyone in the end , which is kind of the point since Kindred quote “so he would always have a friend” has a nice meaning here that even when last soul in reality is claimed Wolf and Lamb will still stay together and always have a friend.

On top of that we don’t get that from their voice lines since they are full aware that eventually they will claim everyone and how would it even work? also its a pretty well known fact that kindred isnt death itself, the etherfiend and mask mother for example are cards that confirm that when these spirits of deaths are forgotten they are taken by the etherfiend

If an embodiment of death like Kindred is forgotten they are consumed by the Etherfiend and new ones are made by the Mask Mother. The Fading Icon is the kindred from the Shadow Isles who is being forgotten because of all the Viego stuff and all the people becoming immortal ghosts.
You're right in first part, but not the second. Fading Icon was god of death in Shurima, they're forgotten because of Immortality of God-Warriors, who later banned every believe other than in their Emperor.
the poesy of kindred : you know death is the only outcome, accept it and lamb will claim you, no matter how hard it will be for your beloved ones, so you understand everything but you gave up on yours and everyone else's feelings. You don't feel it. Run from it or fight it, and wolf will come for you. Fear, anger, doubt, you feel everything but you don't understand. You struggle to the bitter end, fight for every breath and every second, but death is the only outcome. So is death, and so is kindred
The mask mother is the spirit that made the lamb and the wolf when the gray man severed himself. She made the kindred thay exists now

As some people have said, there are more death spirits that are less well known than kindred, the fading icon is one of these, and he’s the spirit of death for the shadow isles, so there’s almost nothing left to remember him, so the ether fiend is on the hunt for him (in the ether fiends full art you can see the fading icon hiding)
One Might think that lamb is gentle while wolf is cruel in their ways to deliver death, but wolf allows those who die to fight for their lives and the ones they love. Even if they lose to wolf, (Most Do) they can still remember their lives and accept death. But Lamb's death is swift and their death is somewhat cruel in thet they had no chance to fight for what they care about. It's just over when it's with her.
so basically the tryndamere and kindred stuff is like this:
in game tryndameres ult makes him unkillable and in the cinematic when the fight with kindred happens you can see his eyes glow red which indicates the usage of his ult so the idea is that he fights kindred everythime he ults(resists and rejects the death) which is astonishing to see in the cinematic
Kindred isn't real. They're the universes symbolism of death. A tale spread across cultures on Runeterra. Each with their own slightly different version (Kindred is just the most commonly believed depiction). In the Still Here cinematic Tryndamere wasn't actually fighting Kindred. He was fighting off all the soldiers in the opening scene. Kindred was the metaphor for his "struggle" which is why he fought Wolf. Lamb tested him a few times with her arrows to check if he would accept his fate and forfiet his will to win the fight against the soldiers. But ultimately vanished when Ashe arrived as her arrival solidified his triumph. Think of the fight as though it's Kindreds perspective. A sort of omni-dimensional being who though exists, does so on her own plane. Never truly interacting with the world we see but always present through the beliefs of everyone on Runeterra. Aka Santa.
A thing about kindred is that they are known in one form or another across the world.
They also reprisent if one excepts death, they will die swiftly from a arrow of the lamp.
Or they fight to survive, then the wolf hunts.
Thing is that the dutyfull demaciens belive in excepting fate, so they reviere the lamp, while in noxus the wolf is the only known form of the kindred.
Fitting for a region defined by ambion and eternal struggle for power.😊
You need to do this to our star forger Aurelion! His lines in Legends of Runeterra adds so much deep to his character! And the rework on his abilities on League of Legends advances his lore, signaling the Aspects are losing the control they have over him! I would love that SO SO SO SO MUUUUUUUCH! Love ya!
As a league player for years, I never really cared about kindred's lore until 'Still Here'. I read their story and dug deeper into what they are. Surely enough, I fell in love with them and now I'm trying to main them in game!
The reason why they compliment each other is because they are 2 parts of the same being (Death) they are actually one split in two, that way it/them will not be alone in its task. So they are actually a "Split" personality.
@20:49 You say that there are characters that cant die. By technicality you are right in that there are some things that cannot die in the sense that you and I understand. For instance Aatrox is a darkin who is cursed to not be able to die. part of his curse transferred to Tryndamere when Aatrox stabbed him preparing Tryndamere as the next vessel for Aatrox. Which is where his undying rage comes from. But just because Aatrox cannot die that does not mean he cannot meet his end. All things meet their end. Celestials, gods, aspects, and demons they all do not die in the sense that you and I die but they do meet their end and at their end they will all greet Kindred and have the choice of Lamb's arrow or Wolf's teeth. The line, Lamb: "Every life..." Wolf: "...ends with US.", shows how everything that lives at least in lore will end eventually and then all that will be left is Lamb and Wolf.
Also to answer some of your other questions posed. Kindred is death. The pale man who split himself in two was the precursor to Kindred but they are the same being. Kindred's origin begins with life itself for as long as there has been life there has been death. Kindred can die but just as you see in the cinematic with Lamb's bow. They just come right back. There is a line in game that references this, Wolf: "Is this what it feels like to end" Lamb: "I do not know, for this is not our end." Wolf: "Do others come back?" Lamb: "Those who do, wish they hadn't"
one of my favorite things about kindred, is the fiddlesticks voice line to them. he always says something about the fear of a character. and to Kindred he says: Pale Man. Making them remember their past and the feeling of loneliness they had. So I think their biggest fear is being lonely. q_q

This is my first time commenting on your videos so I need this to make sense.
The reason why The wolf is like childish when he talks is because he really wants to chase and hunt those who struggle against death. And the reason why the Lamb is like that because in a way she's more human (not literally) than the wolf.
I also recommend reading Finishing soates short story for Kindred, it's about the death of death and it has Mask Mother and Etherfiend in it.

I very much recommend looking into the stories of Azir, Nasus, Renekton, and Xerath and their interactions/trailers. They all have stories that tie together and its one of my favorites
you should check out Jax, Ahri and Lee Sin
they've got some pretty good champion themes as well as great interactions and lore
There is also a consistency in that the champions who are considered undead or having come back to life are simply not happy or good.
Sion is in shambles and breaking apart, Urgot is hanging on by a thread and suffering doing so, Aatrox wishes he could die, Naafiri resents her existence (until she stockholmed herself), Azir is desperately trying to cling to the past and bring it back, Xerath is mad with power due to literally only being made up of it in order to survive, Renekton has literally been driven mad (by Xerath), Nasus is lost, Lissandra is fighting off the Watcher's influence and is herself not good, Mordekaiser is evil, and so on so forth.
I believe the only good or content one in this category is Bard, who is not mortal anyway.
im pretty sure the Swain interaction is Kindred saying that he owes them everything but his hand, since it was already taken from him once, though it could be them saying that he owes them the rest of the world except for noxus, personally i think its the first one as it makes a bit more sense
Kindred being my next to favourite character, I'd really love if you went back and covered Jhin again! He's such an immaculately crafted character and we can always appreciate our drama queens 😌✨

11:56 interesting kindred kinda works best(combo) with ashe in Lor.... Its also worked with nasus(slay mechanic) but kinda cooler with ashe since the cinematics drop❤

It’s a documentary style series that goes into the production behind the scenes of Arcane/League of Legends. If you haven’t watched it, highly recommend.
I think that even for the entities which you think Kindred can't reach, they will eventually meet their end. It may take an incomprehensible amount of time, but nothing is truly eternal. Eventually things come undone. Whether it be the land, the stars, magic structures, or space itself, entropy finds its way.

Ashe who also appeared in the 2024 cinematic has a lot of updated lore, she got really good voice lines a couple years ago, it's a really good champion to react to.

Kindred is just an amazingly designed character kudos to the lore designer of Kindred. It's just a shame the power fantasy of them in League is just underwhelming, she deserves a rework.

If you interested in full lore of Kindred and silmilar to them Spirits you definetly should check *Finishing Soates* short story and *Fading Icon, Mask Mother, The Etherfiend, The Wings and The Wave, Astral Fox and Soulspinner* Voicelines from LoR. There is no video for that in TH-cam.. At least a good one, but you can do it even better in Wiki.

which one of them claims the kill of someone who's unaware they're about to die? they're not really accepting it but not fighting it either. like someone sneaks up on you from behind, shoots you in the head.
That would be Lamb, since it's technically a "peaceful" death. Wolf is gruesome deaths.

i'm confused about death, mainly bcs of Mordekaiser... like what is after death, why are there other masked, is there no peace for the dead?
There's nothing in death. You cross over and fade to nothing. Mord accepted death and crossed over thinking he would be rewarded for his valor and glory. But there was nothing, and so he created something through sheer willpower. Kindred doesn't really care as long as those that died do not return. They don't directly hunt anything, they are just the series of events that leads to death and nothingness. You would need to be very perceptive, or lucky, to see kindred when it's not yet your time. The other masks are just other spirits, beliefs that some1 somewhere has. Kindred will continue to exist as long as ppl associate death with them.

in technicality Tryndamere didnt really defy kindred, atleast not permanently. theyll be back for him at some point because what was really happening is Tryndamere was saved from the warriors that were about to kill him. the fight with kindred is kind of in his mind. physically he's fighting these warriors, then Ashe kills them just in time. kindred have to let him go.

Swain lost his arm in the Ionia campaign. Kindred want the rest.
The reason both lamb and wolf were attacking Trynd in the “Still Here” cinematic is because from our knowledge that wasn’t the first time they have met. Trynd’s ult activates when he is about to die, and functionally makes him immortal for a little while.
From the fact that during the cinematic Trynd didn’t look surprised at ALL when Kindred showed up and that both lamb and wolf were attacking, we can come to the conclusion that Kindred is fed up with Trynd’s immortality and Trynd is fed up with Kindred trying to take him.
This immortality is also the only reason Trynd could actually “fight” kindred. No normal being could fight back but Trynd is a slight exception because he gains immortality when he is about to die

Mask Mother is supposed to be the one who made all these death spirits, Kindred being only one of them. Before LoR did that, there was supposed to be only one death spirit who would look different depending on what you believed. I liked that better because it made Kindred special. Now its just one of many. And it completely destroys the idea that Kindred will be at the end of everything with Wolf killing Lamb in the end.
LoR generally has the preference to turn Champions a little bit less special. I dont like that direction.

There are more spirits of death, Kindred are the strongest beacuse they are believed in the most across Runeterra, The Everfiend is another spirit of death, but what is special about him is that he shows up when a spirit is forgotten, meaning he is the Grim Reapereer of Grim Reapers, so when Kindred will be completely forgotten, they will meet him.
im not totally convinced all of thats canon tbh. its hard to reconcile the fact "grey man" is still fully canon, along with the story to go with it, and also the idea that theres multiple death spirits that will come before and after kindred.
ill be honest, i think they just needed cards for a kindred deck so they slapped some together. at most i think the other death spirits are just other false manifestations of what other cultures think the kindred is.
the only two cards out of that whole series that i would consider legit is the etherfiend and the mother. mask mother is featured in a short story, and etherfiend doesent really conflict with anything we already knew about kindred.
the rest? i just dont even think theyer real.
@@wowitsfrostygames155 riot said that LoR will take priority to what is considered cannon, second only to Arcane, so pretty much everything we know outside of LoR should be taken with a grain of salt and fully trust the naratives LoR is pushing. While I agree that storylines like Aatrox vs Xolaani and the other darkins are just what ifs, I believe that stories that contribute in building the universe are cannon.

Also it was said at LoR release that everything in LoR is canon (exept cards with multiple choices), and lately they again said similar thing when they were talking about their shared canon. So yeah, you should be convinced, if you not then you're delulu.
