    Thank you for showing your hydrangeas, it's great to see them side by side.

      It was my pleasure. I hope the audio wasn’t too bad. I’m brand new at this and had no idea I could fix the audio when I uploaded that. I’m learning every day. I’ve bought some new varieties and hope to make a similar video but with better audio this time lol.

      I agree! I just bought four little lime punch. In a 4.5 size pot. I have never had any experience with pinnacle hydrangeas. So this is really good to see.

      @@kiemc1855 oh I’ve had my eye on the little lime punch. That bright red color looks so unique. As soon as I come across one at a garden center, I’ll be adding it to the collection! I bought a firelight tidbit as a tiny plant by mail, last year and it’s grown so much. You’ll be pleasantly surprised this time next year at how great your panicles are doing.

    I had such a hard time deciding which hydrangea to get - I was torn between strawberry vanilla, sundae and berry white. I ended up with firelight and strawberry sundae but from this video which is soooo great, it’s the s. vanilla that I was really looking for. Of course plant size was something else i had to factor in. Just need a bigger garden 😂

      I have a tiny garden too and I’ve packed it to the brim. The way I’ve been able to get around the fact that S. Vanilla gets so wide is that I’ve turned the bushes into mini multi-trunked “trees” so that they kind of are up in the air and I could underplant them with other plants. I feel like I get the best of both worlds that way (hydrangeas AND perennials). I’m planning on making videos on how to limb them up and support them.. if we can’t make our gardens bigger, we need to start going vertically lol

    Thank you for a concise comparison of Hydrangeas. Great video. I am nervous about caring for a Hydrangea Strawberry Vanilla tree I bought. Some leaves are turning yellow, and one panicula has browned. I cut it and removed the yellow leaves. So, I'm open to suggestions because I don't know what I'm doing even if I'm correctly watering. 😮🥺❤🙏

    • @Garden-Oasis
      @Garden-Oasis  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Firstly, thanks for watching! 😊 secondly, don’t worry, panicle hydrangeas are really, really hard to kill. It sounds like your hydrangeas are newly planted so haven’t had a chance to reach out for water sources. The browning flowers are a dead giveaway that it’s not getting enough water. So when water is scarce, it will sacrifice the blooms in order to keep the leaves and stems alive. Also the yellowing leaves indicate not enough water. It will sacrifice leaves on the lower or inner part of the plant in order to keep the outer leaves (the ones that get the most sun and are most useful to it, alive). Water more and make sure that when you do water, you’re really giving it a good drink. That’ll allow you to be good for a couple days before you need to water again. Just check on it every once in a while and if the ground looks dry, give it another deep watering. The frequency will
      Depend on how hot it is. This is only necessary the first year (sometimes the second) by the third year, it will have rooted in enough that it won’t need help at all. Hope that made sense 😊. Check back if you need more advice, I’d love to help. Good luck!👍

      @@Garden-Oasis Oh, thank you 🙇. Everything you said is understood. Now, I can water more and refrain from checking on it every hour. Yes, I'm a worrier. 🥺🤗💝🙏

    I have lime light, panicle, and quick fire, I forgot to lable them, now, they are growing big, don't have clue,,

    • @Garden-Oasis
      @Garden-Oasis  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Both limelight and quick fire are panicle hydrangeas. So I’m not sure why the tag for the one you bought just said panicle. Maybe it’s the old “pee gee” variety which was the original panicle hydrangea.
      If you’re having trouble telling which one is which, you can tell them apart by their flower shape and color. The pee gee opens white. The limelight opens a green color, then turns white after a while. And quick fire is distinguished by the shape of the flower. It looks like butterflies dancing around something. Whereas the other two have denser flowers like you see in the video. Hope that helps 🤗

    Hi there, which zone arw you in. Does vanilla strawberry turn dark pink to strawberry pink in september october time frame. I am in zone 5 and find most of my hydrangeas turn brown in september instead of becoming shades of pink or red.

    • @Garden-Oasis
      @Garden-Oasis  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m in zone 7a and yes, they turn pink but not dark pink. The more north you go, the pinker they’re supposed to get. I’m surprised yours turn brown in zone 5. Your zone is supposed to get gloriously dark pink shades. Do you have them in the shade or full sun?

    Is the vanilla strawberry flops? Which is sturdier vs or pinky winky? Planning to buy in tree form

    • @Garden-Oasis
      @Garden-Oasis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, vanilla strawberry has a really bad flopping issue. I have to tie/stake mine up to keep it upright. It’s just the huge dense flowers, when they get wet, they hold a lot of water and the stems have trouble keeping them up. Pinky Winky doesn’t flop at all. The flowers are more open and smaller so the rain doesn’t phase it. Hope that helped! Thanks for watching 😊

      I bought fire quick tree form few months ago but i find Vanilla S blooms look prettier than quick fire.

    • @Garden-Oasis
      @Garden-Oasis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@helenatan1030 I have the quick fire, strawberry vanilla and pinky winky in tree from. Vanilla strawberry flops into an umbrella shape when in tree from. Bothe the quick fire and the pinky winky stay upright in tree from. If you like the blooms of the strawberry vanilla, might I suggest the Quick Fire Fab? It has big dense blooms like the strawberry vanilla but with thicker stems so doesn’t flip as much. They still will flop a bit though, just not as much as the strawberry vanilla.

    They are backs, not flowers.

    • @Garden-Oasis
      @Garden-Oasis  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@JoseMartinez-df2db actually if you want to get technical, they are “panicles”. That’s where the name panicle hydrangea comes from. The panicles are composed of both flowers and bracts. But most people don’t know what a bract is, so I used the word “flower”, so people would understand. The point of the video wasn’t flower anatomy 😅

    • @Garden-Oasis
      @Garden-Oasis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn’t mention it because all but the strawberry sundae, will get large, if you let them. It’s all in how you prune them. Even the strawberry sundae (which is the only dwarf in this video) I’ve trained into a hydrangea tower that’s 6ft tall at the moment. Here’s a short I made of it:
