It’s interesting how knife companies make intelligent and foolish choices in the same knife. The great decision was making this knife with the material choices they did, design, and going tip up on the carry option. The foolish? MT was spot on. Get rid of the lanyards hole and make that brilliant looking pocket clip deep carry, end mounted, and reversible. It would look better and would interest and sell to more people.

I'm kinda new to the whole knife game... and all I can find is the US version that seems to have sold for (when available) around $400. Is this a similar price point? Asking because I did see this rike se selling for $1500 somewhere... what am I missing? Are they just selling for more because they are sold out or...?

The quality of Chinese-made products depends almost entirely on how much you are willing to pay, and how much the manufacturer values you as a customer. Apple-Foxconn is a prime example of this. Looking at the price of this Socom Bravo, and also who manufactures it (Rike Knife), it's no surprise that the quality is top notch.

I prefer tip up but it’s just a preference thing. There’s no big reason. I guess an argument could be made that it keeps the blade up against the side of your pants so it won’t open. But the thing is, it’s just what I’m used to, so it’s what I carry.

That clip position change was huge! "Mega Improvement" as you said is correct.

Can manufacturers go ahead and lose these lanyard holes by the way? Pls give us deeper carry..

I do as well might I suggest watching the torture test by micros tech on TH-cam they actually shoot this blade and run it through it 2x4 chopping it in half chopping copper wire panties nails and are still able to shave paper with it the torture test was just unbelievable two or three times on steel and the tip just chipped a little bit and that was it I've never seen a folding knife go through such torture in my life the most I've ever seen a folder go through was an Emerson CQC 7 extra heavy duty and I believe this knife is even stronger than that

I used to work for a firearms manufacturer, corporate asked us to peel off any "made in china" stickers off of any parts. To which the customer wasn't aware of, thinking that their product was "assembled" in the USA, when all we did was peel off a sticker. It's all capitalistic marketing schemes, quality definitely matters but at a certain point it's pretty arbitrary.

Microtech has to deal with a lot of fraudulent products made in China. If producing a line by a manufacturer in China eliminates or reduces that fraud, and allows them quality control of the products that come from there, it’s a smart move.

    • @BuffaloNickel9
      @BuffaloNickel9 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

I don't know how having one of Microtech's knife models made IN China would reduce fraud one bit my friend? The Chinese are never going to stop cloning Microtechs unfortunately- This almost guarantees there will be good replicas...
Now the Rike factory in China has the blueprint, you think the counterfeiters aren't going to get their hands on it?
Of course! not only that....they may make the knockoff in the same Factory now, or across the street with the exact blueprint and specs...
As Soon as you manufacture products in China, you can count on it being knocked off immediately- this only makes it faster and more convenient in my opinion...

But these days it's far easier to just dismiss things in such a manner than it is to face certain realities. Simple fact - the Chinese counterfeit everything from clothes to small consumer goods to toys to electronics & yes knives & much much more.
Try reading up on the counterfeit goods problems with Amazon for instance. Now where do those come from? The answer is China. It's a literal widely known fact that China has a gigantic counterfeiting problem add to that industrial espionage and the stealing of various forms of data related to both products, vital intelligence, design data & the list goes on.
All of this can be easily verified with a little reading. How about you try using your brain next time before showing your ignorance and throwing around baseless accusations.

I just got the black DLC signature series version and I'm disappointed. Two glaring reasons... 1, the lockbar is rather sharp, making it not so fidget friendly. I'm a knife junkie who collects knives not for the tool aspect, but for the craftsmanship, action, fidgetability, and feeling in hand.
2... the detent is very weak, to the point of being able to shake it open easily with the flick of the wrist. I took it apart and tuned it myself but the problem remains.

Its basically the same price as the normal Socom Elite and that doesn't have the extra milling on the blade or the finish and its an aluminum liner lock not a ti frame lock with CF. It would easily cost 2-3x as much if it was made in house by Microtech. There was customs made before think the last one I saw was $1500 so there you go a US version of basically the same knife.
