- Looking at the Winchester .30-30, you see exactly one of those cartridges that stand the test of time. It has been around since 1895, and it is still in heavy use today. In fact, it hasn't even changed that much through the years. Like the saying goes if it ain't broken, don`t repair it. For our round, this means, as long as it is effective, there is no need for change.
With its power level, there is recoil that is quite manageable making this cartridge both easy and a joy to shoot. The ammo is affordable, and you can find it practically everywhere. Even during the ammo shortage, you can get a few boxes of .30-30.

The Marlin level action either in 22 - 30-30, and of course the 45-70 . Just a note the Barkley family in the 1970-1980 tv series always used Marlins were most used Winchesters

I have two 30-30 lever actions a 71 Marlin 336 and a Mossberg 464 SPX. I ditched the collapsing 6 position stock and replaced it with a Boyds Straight handle black textured stock. Both great Rifles. I'm definitely surprised you didn't list the 336 but you did list the 464 because it has been discontinued since December 29 2021. Rossi has the new R95 in 30-30 two models a 16'' trapper model and a 20'' traditional length.
The old marlins are awesome. Ruger is also using all marlins machinery. Ruger is very reputable. It was very hard to find 30-30 ammo during the shortage. It's still not plentiful. Other than these few things the rest of the video is pretty accurate. I'm sure it's like this to get comments, so here we are.
The new Marlin 336 made by Ruger is excellent.

Have a Winchester model 94, circa 1965. Bought it when I was 18 years old.
The 30-30 is still very big in our area here in PA. Really with the laural, grape vines and multi flowral roses 50 yards is a long shot. A 30-30 works very well.
30/30 puts antlers on the wall
I have the henry marlin and winchester and I have to say the henry is the smoothest and my favorite but I enjoy all 3.
One good thing about lever actions still and now days, seems like its the very few new rifles still can buy now days with iron sight on them still.

Hadn’t Marlin already released the 336 Classic by the time this video was uploaded? Yes they had. In fact I already owned one. So who paid for this video? The machine gun belt of cartridges surely wasn’t 30-30…
Nor was the M1 Carbine.

There are many companies making lever action rifles. Will Savage come eventually come back with the 99.
Mossburg makes a fantastic 30-30
It does look like a nice gun. Think the extra safety on them is ridiculous. But do understand on why Winchester, Marlin, Mossberg etc... puts them on now days, cause some morons are just careless on loading and unloading them.
Back in the day Sears sold a great lever action.
Probably many more companies made them then Sears. But back then Sears was Sears. Almost bought an lever action one time in 30-30 from Montgomery Wards think it was. Think it was Marlin made them for Montgomery Wards to sell.

Savage 99 in 30-30 is a great gun! You would have to find it used but they are Sweat.
Your comment on Ruger was not needed. They make outstanding guns. And quite possibly the toughest revolvers around.
Until you can't get ammo for it, no firearm is obsolete.

This video seems to be concentrating on new guns that are readily available- so I have no issue with it. Marlins are not up to speed yet on production. I have not yet seen a video demonstrating decent accuracy with the shabby looking R95, so I wouldn't have recommended that one either.
So, I'm totally in awe of how stupid this episode is. Don't include Marlin lever action? The 336 model is the best lever gun made. What in the actual hell is the point of this? And no 30-30 is going accurately over 150 yards
Pretty sure marlin went out of business this last year
Remington bought marlin, Remington went out of business while making crappy Marlins, Ruger bought Marlin and started releasing them this last year and they appear to be pretty good
@jonny4641 Maybe they will have decent guns again. I knew something happened, but wasn't sure exactly.
Actually, Savage 99's are way better.
Not to mention he included the Mossberg, which isn't made anymore and was plagued with problems. The new Marlins look really good.
And I’m pretty sure 30-30 was impossible to find during the last ammo shortage, not sure why this guy thought it was still easy to find

The 30-30 is obsolete. It came out in 1895 - 128 years ago!!!! It's over the hill, Time to move on!
You must have a different definition of obsolete than.. literally everyone.
Yet it out performs the 300 Blackout in every possible way.
