How can it be noticed? Sorry if that may be a stupid question, I love ballet, but I'm not an expert. Are soft pointe shoes a bad thing? But if the answer is yes, she still did an amazing and outstanding job. 😲
Sarah Möller I'm also not an expert lol but there's a thick block of material inside the top of the shoes (the part they stand on when they go up on their toes), so a soft pointe shoe means it's worn down and it could damage her feet or mess up the dance and she could injure herself. Ik most ballet dancers (and especially dancers at the royal ballet) go through up to like 4 pairs just per show bc they wear down so quickly
Sarah Möller softer the pointe shoes become, bigger the strength and effort your feet will do. Pointe shoes need to be smashed and broken a bit before dancing, as they come really really hard when they are new and you can’t dance with them, but the moment they become too soft, you can easily get injured. You can tell how soft a pointe shoe is seeing the bends and angles the foot and ankle do during dancing, but in my opinion her shoes don’t look too soft.

I've noticed a lot of ROHs principal dancers prefer their shoes to be on the edge. Somewhere on TH-cam there is a video of Yasmine Nagadi explaining how she prepares her pointes and it involves ripping out the sole and trimming what's left with a craft knife! I think there are various reasons why this might be so. One, most of the dancers with the destroyed shoes are relatively petite - I didn't notice Zenaida's shoes looking tired. Smaller feet are stronger. Longer feet need more support. Secondly, ROH dancers have 150 performances a year, the Bolshoi, I dare say, more, which must strengthen their feet. And thirdly, I believe there is a general dislike in the company for the sound of a hard shoe hitting the stage during performances. Done :)

She is just so, so good in this role! Everything. Technique, placement, feet, extension, musicality, beauty, and soul. Being there in the audience to watch would be ideal. Failing that, I'm so glad for TH-cam. I can re- watch the variations and look at only a single element, like placement. Then I can go back and look at something else. One of my favorite elements in this video is the staging. The "sups" (dancers in the background) add so much to the energy and believability of the story. I think they are generally highly underappreciated by some ballet audiences (but let's be frank: when Osipova is dancing, it's almost impossible not to watch her). For me, more than anyone -- even the principals -- the sups are what makes a story ballet like Giselle come alive. It's all about the genuine-looking emotion behind their facial expressions, the super- subtle but effective way they call attention to the ballerina as she moves through their field of vision, and more simply, their commitment to their roles, no matter how small. The fact is that every single dancer in this "background" cast could credibly dance Giselle's principal roles anywhere in the world. Yet instead of sulking and "phoning it in," the background dancers fully commit to their supporting roles. That, dance friends, is professionalism.
ballet is the most beautiful form of dance & i wish i was as fit as I was when i was doing ballet!! nowadays, i just incorporate it into fitness if i can. A wonderful performance, such great talent!!

i keep rewinding 1:21 *THAT'S SO BEAUTIFUL*
I know this is like 5 years old, but it still remains one of my favorite videos on TH-cam. I have been dancing since I was 3 and I aspire to be a professional dancer like Natalia. I know I will never be as good as her, but she is such an inspiration and she makes me feel like I may be able to be a professional in the future. ❤️❤️
Her spins we're out of the world sooo amazing
1:06 Something about her spin feels magical. Her spin right there is just absolutely perfect and elegant (i rewatch this many time because of this part too 🥰)
I can visualize all of her hard work behind this.
Angel last mission love bring me here.. this is soo good!!
Me too
This really shows how much facial expressions truly add to a dance. It adds so much more character 🥹🥹
素人でもわかるこのバレエダンサーの凄さが、、
ほんとにキレイで美しいバレエです!
この人のバレエが一番好きかもしれない...。
She is smileing thru pain 🥺
I love her performance she is a hard working balerina 😀♥️💓🥰
the way that dress flows with her makes the piece look even more magical
She is so elegant!
This is beautiful she is beautiful I am awestruck you could see her beauty from the way she danced
My favorite Giselle. Love how the skirt twirls and falls down.
The pure PAIN that must be hidden behind that smile. I cannot even imagine.
ballet is the most beautiful form of dance & i wish i was as fit as I was when i was doing ballet!! nowadays, i just incorporate it into fitness if i can. A wonderful performance, such great talent!!
I still replay this every time I'm mad, sad, or happy. This has become my comfort art form.
Shes like an angel
Beatiful! My daughter asked me to write thanks for the ballet!
I would like to see the whole ballet Giselle with Natalia, she is so special, she plays a Giselle so innocent and pathetic, all this story becomes real with her.
I’ve never seen this variation done so fast! I knew Osipova was an amazing dancer, but wow!
This is by far my favorite version of this dance. Just the beautiful mix of grace and childness of the dancer is just so amazing 👏👏👏
The most rewatchable ballet
1:22のスカートがふわりと降りるところスローモーションみたいに綺麗だった!
She really looks like a princess to me😍
She is not a Princess...she is a peasant girl.
Natalia osipovas variation of Giselle is probably the best I’ve ever seen. She is clean, light and fresh. Even when performing some of the most difficult steps she looks astoundingly graceful. Well done Natalia !
This is me cry. She's so beautiful
バレエを見る時、楽しんで見ようって
つい意識してしまうけど、
これはなにも意識しなくても純粋に見ていて楽しかったです!
I didn't know anything about ballet, but I'm obsessed to the story of giselle cause reading a japanesse novel, and then i'm watching the full version on youtube. But, believe me. This one is sooooo beautiful! I'm keeping back here just to compare her with other, but... she's still win the most beautiful giselle I ever seen (in my eyes of course)
