Always been funny to me how critics of her can point to her getting bailed out by Sol as being lucky and without agency, while not acknowledging how unlucky and out of her control it was she was in that position to begin with.
Literally, I ultimately think it's a wash personally and don't count it for or against her. But honestly if anything, I think it's even more impressive that she was able to craft enough of a relationship with Sol to get the advantage given to her in the first place (she said in her post-season interview that they bonded really strongly at the merge and Sol said that's why he gave it to her).
I can see why people think she got bailed out. It was critical at that point to take out a Tuku given their numbers and if Rachel is the only non-Tuku then obviously give it to her. Of course Sol also got lucky for finding the advantage in the first place. That said, Rachel did more than enough to justify her win, even if she wouldn't have been there if she hadn't gotten "lucky" in the first place. She capitalized on her luck very very well
I love Rachel's journey because it's so varied. She's an underdog and an overdog. She got unlucky then lucky. She's sneaky but knows when to be performative. She watched Kyle dominate Immunities and then later smashed the Challenges. She didn't control the people and the votes the way she wanted in a difficult season but she forged a harder, more unique path for herself. And that Final 6 TC is legendary.
I agree! It’s easy to point to her good luck, but she certainly had bad luck too. And of course she took control of a lot of her game. Not a lot of winners can say they had social connections, record immunity wins, and strategic moves.

I will say, I was not a big fan of Rachel's winning game when it first happened. But I think a big part of that was how hyped up and overblown and overly focused on it was in the edit, making the outcome predictable and a little underwhelming. I still have some qualms with her game and wouldn't put her as a top tier winner. But massive credit for helping me see the major strengths she had that I didn't give her enough credit for at first. I still think her winning game is a little overrated but I definitely think higher of her now than I first did. Great job as always!
@nelsdanburg5407 I think her winning game is a top tier game. Think about it. More than most winners, she's done everything in the game. Been on the bottom, been on the top. Leveraged herself in both situations. Both sought after and used advantages in the best way possible. Had a great relationship with every single player in the game. Not only won a record number of individual immunities, but in most group immunities, she was the driving force for most of their victories. Changed the game with her SITD approach. I don't know many other winners who excelled in almost every area of the game like Rachel did.
She was the best player in a lackluster cast of players when someone like Andy becomes a threat in the game it shows how weak the strategy is during that season
Rachel is just such a meh winner. Felt like a fancier version of Ben’s win. Still not sure why the whole cast thought her idol play was like god coming down from the heavens. Like yes all the guns are pointed at you and you duck, good job? I loved her as a character tho, and she definitely seems like a nice person.
One thing I didn’t like about this season was that they got the best player out every vote in the merge so it was left with 3 not so good players that didn’t deserve it
@@xP3ngu1nz Actually no people always viewed her as a threat very early on in the merge then she escaped it a little. However Caroline was always gunning to get her out at 5
@ what i was saying was that until the caroline vote, she was never the biggest threat out of the people left, sierra, sol, gabe, rome, tiyana, kyle, caroline and even andy were bigger threats at the time
Definitely more Mike than Ben. Ben used idols exclusively from the F7 and had very little control over who went home going forward (with the exception of lauren, but everyone knew he was voting for her anyways). Mike used one idol + won immunity from the Final 9 on, while still having a pretty significant say in who went home (tyler, dan, sierra, rodney). Rachel won immunity + used an idol once from the final 8 onwards, and was in the loop/in control for all the votes for that period except for caroline. I think the level of control and the reliance on immunities over idols makes her much more similar to Mike (and more impressive overall) than Ben imo If we’re talking pre-merge/early merge exclusively, Mike and Ben probably have her beat though
Always been funny to me how critics of her can point to her getting bailed out by Sol as being lucky and without agency, while not acknowledging how unlucky and out of her control it was she was in that position to begin with.

@@adamskyline4500 Rachel did not waste her shot in the dark. Did we watch the same season?
She needed to detect if she were the real target, and if she was, she was going to play her idol. Arguably the smartest use of shot in the dark yet.
Do Kyle plz

Just me, or is the thumbnail blurry?
Just you. It's a 4k thumbnail.
Only 40 minutes, don’t make that face boring Rachel
4:02 - that speech was pathetic.
She was the best player in a lackluster cast of players when someone like Andy becomes a threat in the game it shows how weak the strategy is during that season
5 minutes for the intro is crazy
? After the season promo cold open, I am talking about episode 1 in no time.
Nothing like Ben as a player.
One thing I didn’t like about this season was that they got the best player out every vote in the merge so it was left with 3 not so good players that didn’t deserve it
Rachel was literally looked at as the biggest threat most of the game and won lol
@@tmm4195 she was only considered as the threat after caroline got out
@@xP3ngu1nz Actually no people always viewed her as a threat very early on in the merge then she escaped it a little. However Caroline was always gunning to get her out at 5
@xP3ngu1nz this is not true. She was literally named the biggest threat in Episode 7 when Tiyana went home, and literally every episode after.
@ what i was saying was that until the caroline vote, she was never the biggest threat out of the people left, sierra, sol, gabe, rome, tiyana, kyle, caroline and even andy were bigger threats at the time
rachel was lucky that's it.
I just gotta say it, she’s Ben Driebergen in a dress. Got saved by production and was out of the loop for a lot that went down.
No way, she had a great social game surely
Definitely more Mike than Ben. Ben used idols exclusively from the F7 and had very little control over who went home going forward (with the exception of lauren, but everyone knew he was voting for her anyways). Mike used one idol + won immunity from the Final 9 on, while still having a pretty significant say in who went home (tyler, dan, sierra, rodney). Rachel won immunity + used an idol once from the final 8 onwards, and was in the loop/in control for all the votes for that period except for caroline. I think the level of control and the reliance on immunities over idols makes her much more similar to Mike (and more impressive overall) than Ben imo
If we’re talking pre-merge/early merge exclusively, Mike and Ben probably have her beat though
Yeah, Rachel is more Mike than Ben.
Ben WISHES he had 1/4 of Rachel's social, strategic and physical game lmao
@@cassiaferreira3205Ben and Rachel were both saved by production. Remember that.
Trump supporter vibes by the narrator within the first few minutes…
