      Thanks brother! I find mostly Kanawha Black material, so it is nice to find some other types of material for a change. Good luck hunting!

    That Hopewell is an amazing find! Congrats! Man, the river was rough! I am sure the wake from the barges does not help matters any.

    • @OutdoorRetiree
      @OutdoorRetiree  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Swamp Fox! It sure was and the barges were fighting it too, although not as big of a problem for them. That was the first time I left the river early.

    Killer day mark!!! I loved that bank with the flint embedded in it!! That’s so cool!!!

    • @OutdoorRetiree
      @OutdoorRetiree  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it was! That is the first layer of flint that I have seen and it was cool. I've seen layers of fire rock, but never flint.

    That was a beautiful point. That looked like a killer spot that will keep dropping artifacts for years to come.

      Thanks! Yep, the banks are loaded and will give up some artifacts every time the river floods.

    I recently came across your channel and must say I love your content and the finds are really something, I live in South Africa and also retired. I recently picked up a worked piece of stone which turns out to be a scraper that dates back to the last ice age in SA 15000 to 35000 years ago.

    • @OutdoorRetiree
      @OutdoorRetiree  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Wow, your scraper is way older than what I’m finding. I’ve read articles about the possibility that humans were here as early as 22,000 years ago, but that is a rare find. In most cases, our oldest artifacts are 10K to 12K years old. Thanks for watching and I’m glad you like the content!

    That's a killer point! I met you a few weeks ago, I was on a kayak with an electric motor and and we sat at the launched and talked for a bit. I just hit that same spot again today but it was pretty cleaned up already. Glad to see your finding some killer stuff! Maybe I'll run into you again out there one of these days. Good luck next time you go out.

      @OutdoorRetiree  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, I remember you. It was good talking with you and I still have your number when I decide to make that trip to that farm near you. I’ll let you know before I head that way, in case you want to stop by. I’m out looking today and just found a nice point. Good luck to you too!

    Fantastic amazing history found. When the intro started I thought I had come across a Jame Bond movie! Best wishes from Lancashire, England.

      Thanks! Yeah, the water was too rough for a small boat. I had driven several hours, so I had to give it a try. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!

    I can't believe the amount of flint in that layer. That is wild, never would I have thought it was that distinctive. I think that's just amazing! I would like to see something like that in person in my lifetime.

    • @OutdoorRetiree
      @OutdoorRetiree  ปีที่แล้ว

      It was cool seeing that flint layer, so I had to film it so that I could show in my video. I usually see layers of fire rock and even they aren't as distinctive as that flint layer. That site must have had a lot of use to have flint like that on it.
