Emmy Award-winning actress Laura Wright will join me live in The Locher Room on Thursday, July 22 at 3 p.m. EST / 12 p.m. PST to celebrate her 30 year career working in daytime television. Laura made her television debut as Ally Rescott on the ABC daytime drama Loving on June 25, 1991. Laura played that role on Loving up until the debut of The City in 1995. She played the role of Ally on The City until the show's demise in March of 1997. On August 1, 1997, Laura joined the cast of Guiding Light in the role of Cassie Layne Winslow, a role she played for eight years before moving to Port Charles and General Hospital. Laura took over the role of Carly Corinthos in November 2005 and has never left playing the role for the past 16 years. In 2011, Laura earned a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress.

Laura knew my brothers well. She went to high school with them and was friends with them. I was younger, but I remember her big break and all of them being so excited to turn on the TV to see her. We were shocked that someone from where we grew up had made it big! Who knew she’d still be acting today, after all these years! Congrats on thirty years, Laura. God Bless!

Laura was wistful as Ally on Loving. She’s balls to wall as Carly on General Hospital. Although, for me she’ll always be Cassie Layne Winslow from Guiding Light. She was enchanting as Cassie and could cry at the drop of a hat. You could tell from the interview how much she grew up on Guiding Light and how much the show and cast meant to her. Great interview Alan. Keep up the good work.

I might not like Carly very much, but I love Laura's portrayal of her because a great actor & actress can make you feel extreme emotions towards their characters, and she consistently delivers everyday. Kudos on 30 years Laura Wright! ❤
To the thing I could not have put it any better myself Laura wright is a class-a actress and she and Maurice benard are the perfect match whether they are hating each other or loving each other they are amazing together and that is why I am a Carson fan forever💙

I was so happy she had kind things to say about Wendy Moniz (Dinah). She was one of my favorites, so stunningly beautiful and a wonderful actress. I had heard she was difficult to work with. Thank you, Laura Wright, for being gracious.
This was a great interview. LW is so real and down to earth. I didn’t think I would love another actress playing Carly after TB left the role, but LW made me love “Carly” even more. She made the role her own, she’ll be playing it for 16 years come November. Yes LW have plenty of fans loving her as “Carly”, more so than the “Haters”.

It's a shame that Jenny B didn't get a chance to figure out what she wanted to do with the role before "fans" got her. fired - so unfair. Laura is amazing though!
@@quincycooper79 Jennifer Bransford. She was hired to portray Carly right after Tamara Braun who was extremely popular in the role. Unfortunately, fans missed TB so much that the physical differences between the actresses and the fact that JB did not "hit the ground running" proved to be too much for the impatient fanbase so GH fired her after only 3 weeks in the role.
I loved Laura when she played opposite Wendy's Dinah, who left in '99, and loved her opposite Gina's Dinah who arrived in 2004. All the best at what they do.
Laura is such a sweet person. I’ve gotten to meet her in person. She is such a sweet and fun person.
I love her story about seeing Lisa Peluso and Susan Lucci and others and wanting to meet and take pictures with the cast😊

Thanks for this interview. Laura does a great job playing Carly on GH but I can't say I'm a big Carly fan. But I really like Laura Wright. I love how she goes over her 30 year career on daytime and how she saw each new chapter, or show, as a new opportunity for new faces, new places. That's how I try to view changes in life. Live and learn and new faces, new places and Laura has the same perspective as that.
I think I saw Laura's first episode on GH. Wasn't she on a train that just crashed?

Cool Laura is a big Knots Landing fan like me. That was my all time favorite nighttime soap! I'm a huge Donna Mills fan and all the other regulars on Knots are great too.

Knots Landing was the best nighttime soap. I still miss it everyday. Laura must have fangirled out when she was on GH with Donna Mills .
@@seannynj Definitely. And now I could watch it On Demand in HD like I do most shows. Do you like the Dynasty Reboot? I didn't get into it the first season but I started watching it in season 2. It's pretty good.

I really enjoyed watching this interview and it's been up for over a year now! I was more of a CBS Daytime Dramas watcher in comparison to ABC, and to hear her say that she actually chose to stay at "Guiding Light" is wonderful to hear for me. I never really cared for the fact that she seemingly left GL for GH since "General Hospital" was direct competition for "Guiding Light" in most markets here in America. GL was also a wonderful Soap Opera. Loyalty is VERY important to me and I always respected and became a HUGE Gina Tognoni fan because she could have left "Guiding Light" and gladly stayed put. I remember sensing back in 2005 Laura's reasoning behind leaving GL encompassed 'job security' but I had absolutely no idea that she actually wanted to stay in New York and at the P&G Shows until contract negotiations fell through back then. WOW! She actually said no to "General Hospital," and I had no idea until now. She did some wonderful work at GL as well.

I didn't know Laura Wright before she started playing Carly, and Carly, to me, is quite literally the most detestable soap character I've ever laid eyes on, but I love watching Laura Wright so much in her portrayal of her. One of the most dynamic daytime actresses I've ever seen, and her ability to be "sad" as Carly, is, the best.

Gosh, I really like😂 Laura. I never cared for her as Carly; in fact, I kind of despised her character, and by association, you wonder if the actress, behind the role, is the same, and it’s hard to separate the two, even though I know it’s illogical. what is it about soap operas that make the audience believe, though they know it’s not reality, but you can’t help yourself, and you believe that the character and the actresses are one in the same. I am so glad to see that Laura is nothing like Carly, and she is the most delightful and joyous person. She has the enthusiasm of a young girl, just starting out, in life, and it’s so beautiful to see because most of us let life and people beat that enthusiasm out of us. Her story of going from obscurity to accidental actress is as charming as Laura. I would’ve never called myself a fan, especially not of either, Laura or Carly, but I am now a fan of Laura. What an extraordinary human being, and this is the second interview, in a row, I have watched with Laura, and she is raw and beautifully honest. I know my thinking, was flawed, as I explained prior, but it is really awesome to get to know the actress behind the character, and between these two interviews, I’ve really fallen in love with Laura Sisk. Congratulations, on your extraordinary 30 years in daytime, Laura!🌟🎁☀️🥰
