- BMC's Mumbai Coastal Road Project Arch String Girder (Bridge) was successfully installed on April 26. After a lot of anticipation finally, Mumbai Coastal Road Project and Bandra-Worli Sea Link got connected successfully. Earlier, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) allocated Rs 3200 crore for its ambitious Mumbai Coastal Road project in its 2022-23 budget. As per BMC data, the coastal road project got the highest share of budget allocation by BMC for the year 2022-23 at 17 per cent. This will benefit commuters, especially during peak hours in the morning and the evening when there's heavy traffic. Speaking to ANI, General Manager Planning of Hindustan Construction Company, Pawan Padiyar said, “The Bandra-Worli Sea Link was also constructed by Hindustan Construction Company, one of the iconic project in Mumbai. We are glad this time also we have constructed this iconic bridge for costal road. It is also adjacent to Bandra-Worli Sea Link. It is changing the aesthetics of Mumbai.” He further informed about the materials that were used in constructing this massive bridge.

Structure looks patchy odd.. doesn't look that great... another cable bridge or cable bridge like structure would have complimented the existing bridge.

What part of Coastal road is complete ? Seems like only South Mumbai & its adjoining areas, and even Bandra are the only places where Infra projects are being completed super fast . And the best projects that can be compared to some of the World's best are coming up only in those areas .

It's an eyesore that is completely out of place as it doesn't merge with the design language of the sea link.
The elegant concrete blocks that form the curved girder are abruptly disrupted by this local train station footover bridge. 🤦
Defaced the nice looking bridge by adding this. At least should have kept it looking the same with the BKC structure.
I believe the initial rendered design was similar to the main bridge. However, the design had to be changed due to protests from local fishing communities.

This engineer is more interested in saving cost. He has no future vision like the British had while making Bombay. British built roads and bridges that lasted for 200 years but this engineer has vision not more than 25 years that's as long as he retires. The country go to damn he's not bothered

Coastal road till Kandivali is not seeing any progress , there was a talk that coastal road will be extended upto Virar , but progress is v slow . Can state government speed up funding for key infrastructure projects in Mumbai . Even Borivali - Thane tunnel project hasn't taken off as yet

The population living in south Mumbai is far lower than the suburbs. The plight of western suburbs is really bad. Instead of the coastal road starting from Marine lines, it should have started at Borivali/Kandivali to Bandra.
The major traffic is between Borivali to Santacruz. Most offices have shifted to BKC

Why isn't the state government doing nothing to build a similar road/ bridge over the Vasai Creek connecting Naigaon to Bhyandar parallel to the existing Western Railways bridge. Everybody is bothered about worli sealink , New Mumbai sealink etc. What about the plight of us residents of Naigaon Vasai Virar ? We still have to endure travelling on the W.E.H , until one reaches Kashimira.

I do agree with you. I do recollect some development government officials did go to Panju Island obviously to collect data and discuss issues which could develop the Island as well as connect to the mainland on either side I.e. Naigaon-Panju-Bhayandar, But were rebuffed, claiming it,
read as Development would wipe off its Identity. That Ferry service serves no purpose, except to a miniscule population.

Everyone in India is taking credit for this type of infrastructure being built but the real people behind are South Koreans, Japanese, and L&T company which has many European working in it.

What kind of person you are, will to do such kind of projects is required first, then execution, atleast both state ans central govt has shown tremendous willingness to do such things and Indian companies like L&T have taken such a lead in these areas.

@@enthuneverdies I am an engineer who worked long time ago with a large company where all equipment came from Germany but nothing has changed even now. As this engineer of the bridge said, the bridge will need fixing after 25 years because they did not use stainless steel but many British made railway bridges are still intact. I smell corruption in this.
