@@andrewmcarthur3843 yeah it’s pretty well hidden unless you’re in that valley it’s a really pretty location too to film specially, with the drone as you saw
Prior to this track layout, WB trains crossed the river at Warner. Coal trains went into Cranbrook, switched around then headed north over the same bridge as this grain train. The switch off the Cranbrook Sub routing trains to Cranbrook is a power switch controlled by the RTC
Another great video. I was a little confused when you said a loaded grain train would head south on the Cranbrook Sub. I thought it was a east-west line. Maybe you're referring to the part south of Fort Steele.
@@TonyVRailfanning The Cranbrook sub runs west from Crowsnest to the border at Eastport Idaho. Used to only run to Cranbrook then it was the Nelson sub running Cranbrook west to Nelson. There’s a junction at Curzon, just west of Yahk, that heads south to Eastport. That was known as the Kingsgate sub. Years ago that portion of the Nelson sub from Cranbrook to Curzon became known as the Moyie sub. Then the Kingsgate sub got rolled into the Moyie sub. Then the Moyie sub became part of the Cranbrook sub for operational purposes.

Thank you very much for introducing us also to this rather unknown territory for people from abroad, Tony! 😀

Great memory for me Tony. I was allowed to take the throttle on an Eastbound train from Cranbrook to Fort Steele.

Good one, Tony! I've been in that area a few times and camped near Fort Steele twice. Really nice to see it from the air.

@@My70mach1 sounds like that original layout was rather complicated and a bit strange having to go to Cranbrook first

@@MJohnny05 cranbrook sub starts at just south of that Fabro horseshoe and goes south at Fort Steele. Thanks for watching
@@TonyVRailfanning No, it starts at Crowsnest, 7 miles east of Fabro.
@@cna435 looking at a map it’s more south than it is east of that location but yes, you’re correct. It’s where the crowsnest ends.

East end Colvalli used to be the junction with the Windermere Sub up till the early to mid 70s

It should be noted that the siding, and the surrounding area, is spelled Colvalli, not "coal valley".
