I think a thing designers miss sometimes on cards like Grimm's is that restrictions multiply. So "at your location" and "fails by 2 or more" on the same card is more restrictive than the sum of how restrictive each would be separately.
Sled dog should permit you to search your deck for another one to put into your hand when you play it.
Or possibly exhaust to do that, yeah.

Grimm's Fairy Tales: Pay 2 to have 4 secrets in your hand slot
Sorrry Travis, but you're absolutely barking up the wrong tree putting Sled Dogs in the worst list. Sure you may not like them, but you're not the kind of player they are designed for. They're a card for synergy/combo Timmy types. I think it's possible to list around 50 cards that are worse than Sled Dogs at a minimum.
However, excellent rant, golden stuff. You're wonderfully unhinged.
Dogs are good, but not as your main weapon. I used them to outstanding effect in a Leo Anderson deck with a Springfield sniper rifle in EotE. Dogs were more for movement than fighting, but, were great in saving some bullets if the enemies were already on me but easy to dispatch. Try them more for movement and I think you'll really enjoy them. Also, big shout out to Calling in Favors. Put a wounded dog back in hand to play a dog from the deck for free. Huge value.
I have laughed so hard because of Travis' rant on Sled Dogs. My day is made.
The the next variation of customizable cards will be like the suggestion for Grimms Fairy Tales, you can spend xp to delete certain words from the card.

Grimms fairy tales is good for Preston, and useful for ll Daisy with a low sanity/willpower ally.
Preston has little hand slot competition (at lv0), likely to fail by 2 unless spending money (which won’t be every single test), and most horror protection involves allies (which conflicts with Lola/delilah).
ll Daisy doesn’t want all action tomes, trying to build for a big turn like that is a trap. She tacks holy rosaries onto all her tomes. If you’re worried about someone going insane (ie Tony mark silas Rita) then fairy tales isn’t a bad choice, you’ll be following them around anyway.
Hyper physical shotcaster works as a one of in my true solo Trish deck, as it helps her to kill the elite enemies you kinda need to kill that show up in scenarios

I would like to submit an honorable mention for Hold Up from the new expansion. I really think this one is a complete miss sadly. It's hard to save any money on this, especially since it costs a resource, unless you invest in the test with skill cards which is really inefficient. In fact you could even lose money on this. It doesn't even do a damage from the attack. Also the card art is just plain ugly.
Edit: Another bad thing I've just noticed is that if you succeed the test by a small amount, you probably still have to play the item since it doesn't say that you "may" play it. Playing the item essentially replaces the whole test. So you really should play this with the money for the item anyway. I'm not sure what the situation would be if you don't have the resources for it, I guess you just lose the action and 1 resource.
It is another thing to use with old shotgun
I think it’s real job is to let you buy your new weapon with a monster on you. Act of desperation does this better, but if you don’t have access to survivor cards. (I agree though it’s still probably going to be bad)
guided by the unseen is basically sensei's divining top in terms of wasting time :P
Grimm's Fairy Tales is basically "What if Peter Sylvester was a book and also bad?"

Hyperphysical Shotcaster was the first card I thought of for my Worst Player Cards list.
The fact that every class is good and bad at different things is the most interesting part about this game.
So imagine printing a card that just said nah, use any stat for any type of test.
I think for me this point has sorta become player dependent. If I was in charge, I would’ve never allowed the multitude of Seeker damage cards to exist but they do so Seekers dealing damage easily via a neutral card doesn’t really matter.
Ha! Tomm and I just covered the shotcaster today in our dream eaters reflection. I’m telling ya, it’s the relic trait.
Lol! The only time I actually found sled dogs useful was in a rather recent run with them in a Patrice Hathaway deck. I just had to have the resources available, and the natural churn helped me get them out.
If you can get 2 or more out (ideally 3, if not 4) they are good.
Every other time I have tried playing them I found them a challenge to make any reasonable use of.

No Justin. Grimm's doesn't stop you from ever failing again. It just causes you to fail by 1 a bunch of times.
About Ariadne's Twine: I noticed that there are a lot of cards in The Feast of Hemlock Vale that use offerings and not a lot that uses charges or secrets. Part of me thinks that this is their way to have those cards dodge being able to be abused with cards like Ariadne's Twine. (Until we get a card like it for offerings lol.)

First off, Switchblade wasn't entirely useless in Wini. Combined with the Switchblade from the Core, it makes an excellent proxy for Easy Mark (1).
Second, hard agree on Guided by the Unseen. It's not a bad card, it's just tedious.
Third, Hyperphysical Shotcaster is, along with Ariadne's Twine, truly a "Thing that should not be." As you pointed out, it doesn't fit in the game, either thematically or mechanically. Even without referencing its upgrade sheet, it was horrible. On the bright side, unlike the Brokenomicon, it's unique, so the Yithians will take it in City of Archives. They're welcome to it.
Hyperphysical Shotcaster suffers from the same problem as Lola Hayes. It's neutral, so it has to be balanced around every possible interaction, is harder to track than it's worth, and isn't fun outside of memes. Post taboo Lola seems better, though.
I just build a Jenny Barnes deck (three character campaign) with Sled Dogs, Calling in favors, Charisma (as first buy) and of course Leo De Luca (using a restricted force pool, not all cards released), thus the dogs allow me to tutor for Luca, while with four dogs in deck Calling in favors rarely fizzles and at least provides a next dog.
I only ever succeed once & fell the power play 4SledDog in LeoAnderson Deck😅
zoo yorik is fun, got easy access to rod of animalism and doggies with short supply can use the raven to tutor at discount with calling in favour

I think sled dog is interesting. I think if more cards interacted with creatures you might see them become good. As is though I do agree that it is lackluster and not worth the 4 card slots
I also think if there was an upgraded version that cost 1 less and searched for other sled dogs they would become a lot more reliable

In addition to Switchblade being terrible it also annoys me because new players seem to like the look of it… I always have to explain why it’s bad.. not sure if it’s the art or the name but folks new to the game think the card will be good.. oh no no noooo 🤣
Hyperphysical Shotcaster seems literally ripped off from the video game Control. It *almost* fits the expansion's theme...
It is certainly a reference. Both games have a kind of underground conspiracy vibe to them so I can see where they felt the indulgence could be justified

Sled Dog is only good if you're playing some stupid infinite deck and you just need to put in filler cards that only count as one card with Dream Enhancing Serum.

Grimm's Fairy Tales is a Wendy card because you don't feel bad when you have to discard it for her ability. (Jokes aside, its not even good for that.)

Well for me the worst player card in the game will always be In The Thick of It.
It simply shouldn't exist. Getting two trauma is neglible for 3 extra xp, and being Neutral means that you can take it in every deck. There's literally no reason not to take it, and I hate it. Every time I start building a deck, I am like "Oh I need to upgrade to this x card ASAP. Oh there's ITTOI. Should I take it? Why not?"
It sucks. Cards like Delve Too Deep, or Arcane Research, or Down the Rabbit hole have some caveats. This doesn't. It hurts man.
And I still play it on 80% of my decks!
