  • These are the icon E-Torx sockets, they are tolerable for the price after using a coupon but I would probably find another brand. They seem nice but the chamfers are inconsistent and not like on the website photos. I do talk a bit about the nature of E-Torx fasteners.

Pick up the shallow set at Home Depot!!!! I always hear about them in tight spots where a shallow and a universal joint could barley get to them! Only 30$ and it’s like 4-24 in 1/4 3/8 and 1/2 drives

Hmmmm, interesting, very interesting, those are deep well? I've never seen a external torsion (e-torx) head bolt so tall that required a deep well socket before. . . . . . .I still have an old Craftsman set (old Sears Craftsman), hardly ever used them (had them for years and years. I've used them so rarely that they still look new).

Etorx bolts are on GM power seats. I had to break out a bunch of wrenches and sockets before I found something that would fit.

What brand was the black socket that actually fit the fastener?

Went to my local HF yesterday and the inventory was bleak. Not just the panic items like rubber gloves and masks but also hand tools and other items they never run low on. Wasn't expecting that.

Same here; I was there a couple weeks ago, and my store was stocked about as well as a doomed K-Mart.
And it annoys me that after all these years (My store has a 2-digit store number), they have yet to move/expand/renovate the place. I'm not expecting anything flashy, but it's too small (especially with the new selection of better tools), in a scruffy part of town, and in a sketchy, pothole-ridden, shopping center. Besides Harbor Freight, the anchor tenant is, I kid you not, Popeye's Chicken.

Do you have the Etorx plus? And the torx plus, I came across some of those and the regular torx and Etorx do not fit them

      try vise-grips!
Yes, it is annoying have several variation of drive types like torx, torx plus, security torx, and a few others. Like Phillips, JIS Philips, European Phillips, pozidrive "look like Phillips", Reed prince, security Phillips, and more. VERY annoying!

Are all of the Icon sets like that with the chamfer? That's disappointing for being their premium brand. I'd return them, but if you need them now I'm not sure it'd be easy to get a replacement. It took me forever to get orders from their site. I think COVID has messed with their supply and distribution.

I still don't get why those Etorx are deep, at least in cars there are not very useful specially with some ecotec timing belt use Etorx that are very close to the chassis.

Electrical cable drums. E-torx bolts are recessed so water tight caps can be use to stop sea water rusting bolts.

if the icon were really tougher than the regular pittsburg, you'd expect the same lifetime warranty instead of 90 day
