I feel like the service is still missing real games. Most of the ones I see have a simplistic art-style, and are supposed to be calming, with a story story that tries as hard as it can to be deep. One or two of these is fine, but my goodness... From what I've seen it looks like that describes half the games on there. Even the iPhone is powerful enough to display some great graphics, but instead we get 'What the Golf' graphics on most of the games... Possibly for budget reasons. (Not to say 'What the Golf' is bad though. It's pretty cool.) My main point is that I feel like Apple Arcade is stuck in a rut. Most games that come to the service seem to be trying to follow in the footsteps of what came before instead of being something different. If you don't believe me, then go through the games list, and count the number of games with a 'Steven Universe', or 'What the Golf' art-style. Or you can even try the hard-mode of that challenge, and include pixel art. Then you'll be really hard-pressed to find many games that doesn't fall into those three art-styles. I kinda feel like Apple just needs to go on Steam, find out what the popular games are, and pay the devs to port them to iOS. Then we could get some real good games.
The association of art style with "real" games and the use of the term "real games" are not things I care about. We can talk about the scale of games sure. In which case I think Apple Arcade does have fewer of those than it needs but it has them. Fantasian being the standout. Oceanhorn 2 and The Pathless are there too. Baldo is brand new. Monster Hunter Stories is a whole, huge rpg. World of Demons from Atlus. So scale is there. Don't miss out because they don't look like you expect them to. When I hear "real games" I hear a coded term for hyper realist art and ENORMOUS games in one of 3 very overdone genres. That's boring to me. It doesn't allow game developers and artists to explore and make something unique. This isn't even about Apple Arcade anymore. This is just me responding to a term I hear a lot and don't love.

Honestly, I probably should've taken more time to re-read and edit my original comment. So I'll dedicate this one to clarifying what I meant, or at least had in my head when writing that. So when it comes to the art-style, what I meant was that I'm just kinda tired of seeing the same three or four different art-styles for 90% of the games on the platform. But because those art-styles are so common, it also makes me wonder if it's Apple is possibly going for a certain over-all theme to the Apple Arcade games, instead of just basing their choices on quality of the game. That, or if the developers that work on games for Apple Arcade are just not willing to go off the beaten path and make something different looking. Alright, so next up is the whole 'real game' thing. I knew after I made that comment that I shouldn't have used that term. But here's the deal. I don't think almost anyone actually means games like Call of Duty, or Madden NFL, or whatever other 'mainstream' games you're probably thinking of. XD I know I don't. When I say 'real' game, I'm talking about games that I can 'feel' the quality from. For example, something like Angry Birds might be fun, but I wouldn't really call it a 'real game'. It's just a quick little game to play while you're bored. Fun of course, but not one of those games you'd play as your main game. Actually, I think that's the best way to describe it. If a game can be the main game you play for however long, I'd classify it as a real game. If not, then it's not. That obviously changes depending on the person, but you get the idea. So yeah, I want more Apple Arcade games that are fit to be my main game for at least a bit. I mean, considering how many times Bathesda has re-released Skyrim, I can only imagine that Tim Cook himself is paying them not to put it on Apple Arcade. I don't see any other reason it wouldn't be there. D:

I really love your giant Airpod, where did you find it? I just finished up my free month of Apple One that includes Arcade and will be keeping it. Cannot wait for my new iPad to arrive so I can try some of the M1 optimized games. Great vid. Cheers.
All I want to do is play Apple Arcade games with an Xbox or PS5 controller on my new M1 iMac. I started my 3 month free trial and so far I have only been able to successfully play The Oregon Trail with a controller. Cat Quest II, Sayonara Wild Hearts, and Sasquatch all either did not recognize a controller, or had controls that made the game unplayable and did not allow you to remap to a controller. If I can't get more games to work, its a bust for me and I can't endorse subscribing. Has anyone else had this issue or able to solve it?

world of demons is one of the best games ive played. it has 2 of my fav things. samurai's and demons/zombies

Never. I played all of sayonara wild hearts with an Xbox controller on iPad.
After your subscription, will you still be able to play download apps from the Apple Arcade?
No. The ones you have don't work either. That's why it's a subscription.
