We have been loving it. For sure introduced some new challenges but it has also added some nice amenities and best of all makes it possible for the whole family to go.
Awesome episode and looks like you're having a great time with that trailer setup. It's so amazing how just a small change can really enhance the experience and shows that you don't need that much as well.
@swidahooverlanding2867 No. the Cathedral loop can be a little busy. It’s what we did the last 5 miles or so. Everything else we saw almost no one. I think two rigs in 3 days
I’ve got the same ikamper tent, and (like you) being a side sleeper, found the mattress a bit too thin. I found an awesome 4” aftermarket self inflating mattress called the Qomotop Double. They are about half the price of the Exped Mattresses, and very good quality. I’ve had mine for about 3 years now. You would need two of them for your tent. There’s another TH-camr “Rhino Offroad” that did a review video about them. He also has your same iKamper Tent, and his video would answer any questions you might have about the mattress. I love the trailer. It’s a great addition to your kit!
@@BackroadExploration That’s the beauty of it. If you get a cheap $10.00 air pump, (the type that plugs into a cigarette lighter) you can suck all the air out of them, stack them on top of each other, and still close the tent up. I have the iKamper Mini. My tent only needs one of the Double mattresses. I’m able to close up the tent with the mattress, a double sleeping bag, and two full size pillows. I’m pretty sure Rhino Offroad does the same. Check out his videos. He did two of them that I watched back when I first bought my tent. The mattress is very good quality, and it’s almost as good as my mattress at home. But I do add a little air to it, even after it’s finished filling up. I do it with the same cheap air pump.
@@BackroadExploration Rhino Offroad did two videos about the Qomotop. The first is a “how to.” The 2nd is a 6 month review. He also did a 3rd video about how to place all your bedding into the tent when closing it up. He uses the original mattresses for that video, but the Qomotop mattresses are even thinner, and work even better. It’s incredible to actually be able to leave all the bedding in the tent when you close it up. Saves a ton of valuable real-estate in the vehicle.
The boys slept in the GX. We could perhaps fit all 6 but it would be really night and with MK nursing Lauren needs room to maneuver. I plan to get a small quick deploy ground tent for the boys. I technically have one but don’t love it so I want to get something else.
Loved it! Good for you guys adjusting to the growing family. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that area between the I-70 and Cathedral Valley.
It’s one of the most beautiful places in the swell in my opinion.
Excellent family adventure. The trailer is going to be a game-changer.
Thanks! It’s been so nice so far.
Super cool. Making memories. That trailer is sweet.
Thanks! It’s been a great addition to our setup.
The camper is looking awesome. Seems like just what you needed. This was a fantastic video.
It’s pretty awesome. I’m excited about it!
Looks like that trailer is working out great for your family! Such a great area to explore.

A weekend with the family exploring is basically all I need.
Start the kids young. Let 'em eat dirt. Good for you, dad!
Love seeing them explore and enjoy nature.
Looks like a beautiful area to explore. Thanks for sharing! George.
The overlooks on this trip were some of the best I ever ever seen!

@@BackroadExploration Nice! Sounds like the place for me to go. I'll keep it in mind. Thanks!

Thanks for the insight I’m going to check it out. Do you leave it in the tent or will it not close?

That’s great!
You’re gunna love your new tent with those mattresses. 👍🏼
Wow, those views never get old, do they? Did all 6 of you fit in the camper or did the boys have the ground tent?

Jared, are you in saratoga springs? Lets go trail together sometime. I'm just north of the lake.
