Fun story. Back in 1996, my youngest brother was the activities director at St. Vincent College in Latrobe PA (just outside of Pittsburgh). In the late spring of ‘95, he booked an unknown Canadian artist to play their student center at St. Vincent the following February 2. The following week after booking her, Jagged Little Pill was released. When tickets went on sale, they were gobbled up in mere minutes. The Sunday before the concert, Alanis appeared at the Grammy awards doing this song acoustically. Fast-forward to that Friday, my brother calls me in the morning and asks if I want to work security for the show. Sure, why not, it would be fun I thought. Well, when I got there, plans changed. He met me in the hallway and said, change of scenery, you are now Alanis’s bodyguard for the day/night. Wherever she goes, you go. I met her shortly afterwards, maybe top three nicest people I’ve ever met in my life. To get really weird, I asked her if there was anything that she needed. She told me that the band liked to warm up before shows by playing ping-pong. In their dressing room, there was a ping-pong table and paddles, but no balls. I told her that there was a Kmart close by, I would run over there to get those for her. She replied, “wait, I’ll go with you “. So, I got to drive Alanis Morissette in my POS Ford Escort to the Kmart in Latrobe, PA, where we walked the aisles looking for ping-pong balls. Not one person noticed us. Another fun fact; Taylor Hawkins (RIP), the drummer for Foo Fighters, was her drummer on that tour. Fantastic show, one of the most insane crowds I’ve ever been involved with.
Dude, that's wild.. shopping with Alanis at Kmart for ping-pong balls. Who woulda thunk? Of course she wasn't that well known in the US just yet, and probably didn't really think twice about it.😅👍👍
Ale's bass is so tasty in this. You can clearly hear that her teacher and mentor is an outstanding jazz bassist. She could play any style she wants. I also love Pau's brush and snare work. These ladies are something else.
Alejandra plays on the same level as Flea. Think about it. And the truth is this is not the full extent of her many talents. She is also a remarkable sing (despite her own opinion about it). Maybe Alejandra is just slower to flourish than her older sisters, taking her time. I sure know what's that like.
@@carlossaraiva8213 " "Alejandra plays on the same level as Flea" ? That is quite a statement! On a recent interview Pau said this was the greatest break-up song. IDK if they were already working on a cover back then or just it prompted them doing this. The original studio version's musicians were Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction and Red Hot Chili Peppers)- guitar and Flea (Red Hot Chilli Pepers) - bass. The fact that Dany and Ale play their parts perfectly on this. Plus Dany covers Alanis' vocals quite well. The original drums were by Matt Laug, a well-known and respected session musician. Pau nails the drum parts even swapping out a drum stick for a brush and back without missing a beat. I can't tell you how impressed I am with this cover. It shows their versatility. TW is not a one-trick pony. They could be the backing band for anyone in any genre - which also means they can and likely will do collabs with many people once the word is out far and wide about how great they are as musicians.
Think they are "Killing It" Red!!! WAY WAY WAY to much TALENT in one room here!!!! There is absolutely nothing these Ladies cannot do! Dany's vocals and guitar, chefs Kiss! Ale's jazzy bass playing is top tier! And of course Pau, switching up between sticks and brushes flawlessly looking like an assassin on the Kit...simply put, WE are all blessed to live on this Rock with the Warning! Loved this Red, as always, you are the best.
There were two amazing female vocalists in the seventies that had my attention. Ann Wilson of Heart, who I saw the day Elvis died in 1977, and Annie Haslam of Renaissance an English prog rock band. They had similar sounds and range. Dany proves every time she steps up to the mic, she's a rock goddess. Semper Fi brother.
I have a copy of Dreamboat Annie on vinyl. I listened to it just this weekend and thought about Dany! Ann sang Led Zeppelin's *Stairway to Heaven* to the band when they were honored at the Kennedy Center years ago. Robert Plant shed a tear when he heard her. Find the video if you haven't seen it!
This is a powerful cover, showing that these young ladies can do just about anything. They started out doing covers and blossomed into full-fledged rock stars. They all shine on this, but Dany's vocals are amazing.
They had a tall order taking this on! Yeah, they killed it. Ale impresses with that jazzy, funky bass work. Pau is restrained and tasteful. Dany has a light touch with the guitar, but the vocal is fierce, full, and in your face. The transition with those high wails and tremolo guitar? I keep playing that over and over. This is scorned female angst at its finest. They made it their own. Nice reaction!
Hi Red. Dany blew me away when she did Lady Gaga in 2013. Started wondering how she would do with others, but The Warning don’t do covers anymore. I LOVE Alanis Morisette. When I got the notice that Dany was doing Alanis, I couldn’t get out of bed fast enough! I could not describe the thrill I felt knowing The Warning are fans of Alanis. And just like Alanis, Dany gave me chills!
Did you expect anything less? The girls SLAYED this song! I’m not an Alanis fan, but respect her music, I’ve watched this several times listening to Ale’s bass, Pau’s drums, Dany’s guitar and vocals. They are on point!

Well, one of their first songs ("Eternal Love"), has a certain country music feel to it. I feel like they could also venture into jazz and I would love to see that.🤞
Pau wrote what is essentially a country song for *Escape the Mind.* It's *Fade Away.* every now and then, you can hear Nashville calling in her voice. She sings one "Got you figured out" line in *Six Feet Deep* that is pure Nashville Country - in the middle of a very heavy rock song!

Yes I had this and still have this CD. It is also on my playlist. Dany just sounds brilliant on this. Pau pulling off some cool soft drumming and looking cool doing it. And Alé killing the bass so smoothly. This also seems like they recorded this last year as Paulina's hair is very short and has since grown it out long again. If I were them, I would record this for their next album and release it as a single.
THAT is how you do a cover. You elevate it and make it your own. They have this talent in dissecting a song and putting it back where the song needs to be. And this is becoming their forte as well as creating bangers. Thanks for the reaction Red. Btw, it’s Dany’s turn to do the F-bomb. Lol

Ale is really shining on this one. She makes it look easy. I wonder if they're going to slip this into their live set. Seems unlikely that they would work it up for one live in the studio gig. Or maybe it didn't take them that long to work it up. They're just saying "yeah, we can do that, too" 🤘😎⚡
