I don't know why people hate the bass here. The song always had the subtle grungy "crunchy" vibe to it. That's exactly what the bass is adding to this performance imo. It all really comes together at the end with that even grungier crunchy guitar solo.

but dude, their musical style deserves a distorted bass with specific notes, like Candy Claws for me, it sounds massive, wild, simple and beautiful at the same time
Yeah. The base was supposed to be distorted during the chorus. That was not a literal accident. It does sound bad enough to be described as an accident though. The base line might just be amplified for some reason on this recording. The base player definitely went a little nuts for a while. This is not how they want their base to sound. Nobody would. It also may have sounded fine live but didn't come through on the recording.
