One other thing you may consider to make it easier to install lid and metal ring when feeder is completely full is to take a piece of all thread rod to use to spam mouth of barrel just below where lock ring goes around the drum. I use 1/4 inch rod and 1/4 inch fender washers both inside and out. Use 4 nuts so you can “ pinch “ drum sides to help it maintain shape and keep from spreading with the feed weight making it harder to install the lid when full of feed weight.

So with everything that's been going on I have decided to go ahead and sell the bus and I'm going to get a vehicle that I could pull a cargo trailer that I'm going to convert or if I find a Class B RV cheap I may get it but I'm leaning more toward getting a four wheel drive I just pull a converted cargo trailer. I hope all this will be done by June , it all goes well God willing I hope to be visiting South Florida Deerfield Beach in October for my 50th high school reunion. I'll get in touch with you before coming down that way so we could hook up and maybe go fishing or something.
