I realize (again) how truly distorted my view of what's expensive is, when it comes to keyboards.
I thought: "Wow, that's cheap.", when you said something below 150...
To me... a board is still not really that expensive below 300 and at this point i understand people spending 600+ or even more on builds.

I don't have a desk pad so I use layers of very thin packing foam cut to the keyboard dimensions. Have you ever done a video on eliminating the transfer of vibration from keyboard to desk?

If you are looking for silent switches I can highly recommend Outemu cream yellows (v1 or V2) or the newer jade yellows. They're dead silent and can be bought for like 15 cents a switch. The quality is like a Gazzew since they use the same molds.
Throw them in a cheap board like a GAS67 or better a GMK67. Great board to carry to work.

I have the keychron k4 v2, and I needed a silent keyboard for my videos. I did a lot of research into what components in a keyboard made the noise and I was surprised. Aside from clicky tactile switches, I was surprised to see that even linear switches made a LOT of noise. So I focused my attention on finding silent switches, there were a couple of contenders. Durock/alpaca, kalih box switches and one other I don't recall but durock dolphins ended up winning. I got 110 of them for $75 on Amazon and lubed them. They come pre lubed but are scratchy and lubing helped reduce this. My only complaint about them is, literally the only thing that makes them silent is a small silicone O ring thay is on the rails of the internal switch. So I thought, well I could just order those for my gateron reds, right? WRONG. I searched for hours and couldn't find anything about this small silicone gasket thingy for the rails and found nothing. I then attempted to swap them to my gateron reds and noticed that the durock dolphin switch rails had a small lip and my gateron reds didn't. So I installed them and moved on with my life. Only to fimd out I didn't like the 65 gram springs as my gateron reds were 40 gram. So I ordered 110 35 gram springs and I'm much happier but that's personal taste. I also foam modded my keychron k4 v2 case and it is basically silent. Oh and I added some foam to my space bar as it's hollow cavity echoed a lot! But now I'm super excited and pleased with my keychron k4 v2, I have to basically put my ear up to the keyboard to even hear the noise even when typing vigorously. My mic no longer picks it up and I've ordered kalih mute switches for my mouse and I'm praying they fit 😅. I'm using an evga x15 and I really like it but it's so loud compared to my keyboard now 😂

Love your vids and the chill style. Actually, your last silent keyb video caused me to buy a mecha that instantly got torn apart and moded towards absolute silence.
I bought some rebranded silent outemu switches from gamakay to put on my Mountain Everest max keyb, verry expensive gaming keyb lots of metal, cherry switches, dampening and it still felt cheap out of the box.
I foam-modded it because the rubber between the plate and PCB was just...meh,
tape-moded it also filled the bottom with as much foam as possible. + I glued in the absolute max possible amount of square nuts using double-sided tape, easily doubling the weight of the keyb to about 2.5 kg, clipped + lubed + band-aided all cherry stabilizers ....and re-lube all the outemu's, including the spring because spring ping af ... what a pain to do ... full-size keyboard 105 keys... easy 5 hours ... and a ton of weird looks from my gf .....but totally worth it. Added pbts caps its a different key now, silent as the varmilo keyb, and if someone tries to break in, I could also use it as a weapon. :D

I've been looking to buy a mechanical keyboard but I always hate how loud some of them are. And I don't have the money to splurge on some insanely thocky and silent keyboard. So this seems perfect for me. So quiet. Just what I want.

I was looking for keyboard that I didn’t have to do much to and didn’t have to spend a lot on. I literally threw some outemu silent cream yellows on a prebuilt board and is very quiet to the point I use it in the library.

if u cannot take it apart, then how do u remove or change new battery if the one installed can no longer be used? or if the battery has started to bloat? weird

I like my keyboard noisy, but in a workplace where I'm on zoom calls and my clackity clacking is interrupting everyone, a silent keyboard is what I want.

I tried searching up for the kailh prestiege silent switches but couldn't find them on Amazon. I guess it's only available from dedicated mechanical keyboard online shops or direct from Varmilo.

Well obviously the bottom comes off before the top rim because they would have had to been able to screw that on before putting it all together . . . . . .

How do I go about buying this keyboard? I’m having trouble understanding what to look for when I click the link in the description. Any help to guide me would be greatly appreciated :) I’m looking to upgrade my setup.

Keyboard: completely and utterly silent. Doesn't even register on the mic.
Hipyo: "I bet I can make this quieter!"

Hi from France, where it’s easy since it’s already 5pm here.
The keeb is impressively silent but probably not as enjoyable as a thocky one (yet the video make it looks like it feels kinda buttery). Anyway certainly great for the office.

Do you know any full-sized keyboards that will accept the Kailh PRestige Silent switches???? I haven't found anyone who has hot swapped for these switches and one person said they are a tight fit, but didn't mention what keyboard...

Suggestion: How it's made videos. Take apart something like a switch and explain what pieces give it certain properties
I have a Content Linear Brown, which I'm assuming is a knock off of a Gateron Linear Brown. I made the mistake of assuming linear meant silent. Now I have a silent in hand. My guess was the noise came from the switch bottoming out and/or the keycap hitting the switch, but the silent one doesn't appear to be of a different construction.
