The redline is when the fuel delivery reaches it's limit but the air pressure continues building, which improves atomization and thus maintains power, however it does not necessarily developes "more" power! It is pointless higher fuel consumption, and engine heating! When those little horizontal bars on the HUD reach their sixth line, that's the ideal shifting time!
That's not necessarily right either... The peak in the horsepower curve is the ideal place to change... in some motors that is quite well before redline... Hence why some cars produce better lap times when you short shift.
