Haha those are all the book club ones! You are ahead of the game, as always 😊 I’m excited for all of them. I thought the pile turned out a bit weird but now that I’m looking at the stack, it looks pretty good!
Loved A Man Called Ove and 1984 when I rad it in school (time for a reread). And I's love to read Parable of the Sower. "Long" fits perfectly with your Big Book Summer read! The Hunger Games is dystopian - so, yes, that is considered sci fi :) It's also outstanding! You haven't read it yet? I really want to read This Is How You Lose the Time War - I love time travel! Enjoy them all!

I haven’t read The Hunger games! I have see the first movie, maybe the second one, but I would really like to read it at some point.

I found Parable of the Sower in a free little library a while back. I feel like it’s going to be a 5 star read, so naturally I’ve been postponing picking it up. I’m glad your reading this book as part of your book club as it’s going to motivate me to read it as well

That's a great list. 1984 is one of those books that I'm glad I've read but I don't think I could read it again. It's hard hitting and challenging- in a good way!

I'm planning on reading "A Man Called Ove" for July. Also, I had wanted to read "The Wager" in June, but it did not happen, so I am carrying that one over to July. I will be listening to "A Prayer for Own Meany" in July on audiobook in July - several of us are buddy reading it with Pat @BookChatWithPat

I think dystopian is considered a sub-genre of scifi, so The Hunger Games would definitely have worked. But I‘ve had This Is how How You Loose The Time War (never sure with this title either) on my radar for quite some time, so I‘m looking forward to hearing your thoughts 😊
Yes, I checked in goodreads after filming and it does say Science fiction on there, so I could have picked that! But I needed some audiobooks anyway, so I think the Time War one will be good for this month! I’ve started it and am very confused so far, but I’ll report back eventually! 😊💜

Thunder in JULY? Me living in California... what is water 😂 Now it makes sense why it's so green there! A recommendation for Sci-Fi is the murderbot diaries for Audiobook for the future! I heard it's pretty good 👀 Hunger Games is considered dystopian, I believe! I can't wait to see what you think about 1984!! I'm going to read that after I'm done with my library loans 😂
Haha oh yes, there is almost always rain on the horizon here! It can get dry during the summer, but mostly there’s rain 😂 There’s a classic Swedish summer anthem called Summer is short and the lyrics go (roughly) “Summer is short, most of it rains away, but it’s here now, so enjoy it, the sun’s shining today” 😂 It was on the radio as I drove to the cabin and any Swede will know the lyrics!
Anyway!!! I don’t have murderbot on any audiobook app unfortunately! Yes, THG would have been sci fi, but my silly little brain doesn’t know things like that! 😁 I’m looking forward to see what I and YOU actually think of 1984! 😂 You’d better get to it or I’ll send you to JAIL by saying ellenmade book club book club pick three times in a row!

I read Parable of the Sower the beginning of June along with two other Octavia E Butler books. I really like their writing. I hope your reads go well.

@ellenmadebookclub I think it is just a duology. The other two were Wild Seed (very good but made me so angry, not sure if I will continue that series anytime soon) and Fledgling. I read Kindred the month before. I am late to the party but can completely understand the hype. You'll have to hold your boyfriend to it and get that three course dinner!
@@tibbarasden Yes you’re right, it’s a duology! Kindred is definitely next on my list. It is hard reading the things that make us angry. It feels important but there has to be some balance as well, to keep us going.

Love how you made your boyfriend leave before you moved on in the video, I feel that 😂😂 And fully support the decision to not add another long book, summer is not the time for that! Also I just noticed that it said on the cover of Parable of the Sower that it pairs well with 1984 and I don’t know if that was intentional but that works out really well, haha.
I’m definitely excited for the July book club picks and otherwise I’m just feeling like mood reading! But I still want to do the TBR jar so who knows what my July TBR will look like 😬😆

Thank you for your support! I feel like I have long books as it is. I’ve noticed that too on Parable of the Sower, I’m not sure they meant “read these at the same time for happy summer” but we’ll see how it goes!
I felt the same with a tbr for this month, but you could always do a pile of possibilities pick, just for fun. I don’t know why it’s so much fun picking words out of a jar, it just is!

@@ellenmadebookclub haha I totally get it and yeah the language part doesn’t make it any easier!! My husband and I have been married for almost 6 years and there’s no way I would record in front of him, I don’t even want him to hear me from the other room 😂😂 Yeah you picked some great, light-hearted summer books haha! And that’s very true, I had to do at least a couple tbr jar prompts but I like the pile of possibilities 😊
