LOL...That bike had THE FEEL .If u don't ride it, u won't know. Best of them all, had 25 bikes all of these years.Bought 2 VF 500 last year, after 40 years , if that tells u anything..Lust leave it plain, dont touch anything.V4 is a mess, and u don' t wanna deal with it.

I had one long ago. It was old and weary and would have needed lots of fixing. But still, it was surprisingly nice and fun to ride.

Yeah, nice handling bike and very smooth engine…good for crusing around and driving faster on tigther roads.
I just ran engine first time in 6 months yesterday when changing oil, oil filter and coolant. Fired up almost immediately (once I figured how much choke it needs). Run very well immediately, just needed bit idle speed adjustment.
I’ll make another acceleration test later this summer with 520 chain and sprockets, it is now using…

@@jonibeebeesplaytime I know what you mean about learning just how much choke it needs on any particular cold startup. I usually pump the choke twice and then leave it 3/4 and start. Works 90% of the time to start right up. Other times, if the weather is pretty warm, it can get a little bit fussy. Love the old bike.

Pretty good numbers for a mid 80’s 500cc bike.

Yeah, it is one of the higher tuned engines of its time. Valve clearance adjustment is due now, so I didnt want to rev it pass 10 000 rpm this time. I’ll adjust valves and clean carbs during winter. I’m also planning to make 520 conversion. I’ll test acceleration again next sunmer, lets see if it improves at all…
By the there is typo on my video, 0-100 km/h and 0-100 km/h, should be 0-100 km/h and 0-120 km/h.
      Thanks for watching and commenting!

Do you have 82k kilometers racked up? Is that right?

      Yes, correct...almost 84 000km now.

@@jonibeebeesplaytime That's awesome, way too many of these bikes didn't make it past 10k miles because of poor maintenance. I'm on my second engine, the original dropped a valve at 13k miles. Current engine has about 29k miles on it and runs like new. I put all new valves and springs in this one about 9k miles ago when I installed it. I bought my bike new back in 1984 and I'm STILL riding it. Best of luck to you.

@@jrodrims27new rods and springs?!? That is SO exciting! Any chance you can share part numbers/sources? I want to keep my first bike running forever as long as possible. I’m new to motorcycles but I had so much fun cleaning and replacing orings on this v4…now I’m hooked. Brake lines and tires are in the mail!
