    This move is absolutely crucial! Which part of today’s video do you need to work on the most?

    an alternative "thought/feel" for your last point about not getting the right hip forward that worked for me. Is when I rotate the right hip back on the backswing, I think instead of turning my right hip forward and my left hip back, I think about keeping my right hip (trail hip) back and turn my left hip back as well. So it creates almost this see-saw feeling. Back swing, left hip stays still and right hip rotates back. Down swing, right hip stays still back and left hip rotates back. So pivoting on the left hip backswing and pivoting on the right hip downswing. Probably more of a feel vs real but that helped me not "fire" the right hip forward which would take up that space and throw my hands out hitting over the top.

    Excellent video Giles on how the right arm should work in the golf swing! I recognize that I an one of those who try to get the right shoulder deep in the backswing. I now know that I really don't have to do that! I will definitely use your suggestion of the right arm fold, keeping in front of me, and letting both arms drop as the body is rotating out of the way. Well Done As Always Giles!

    my best ball striking with my irons was focusing on that arm/elbow. I've let that slip over the months, and my striking/distance has suffered, is is a good reminder!

    this guy is awesome. I have been a high 90s golfer in the past 20 years (play average once a month) and since I've started following him I've been hitting mid 80s. A lot of great tips.

    This is a great video. So many coaches focus on the downswing but in reality this is often a backswing issue

    I’ve been working on something similar to this, I’ve found that from the top I feel as though I’m dragging the club toward the ball with the heel of my left hand, almost as though I’m covering the ball with my hands … focusing on this stops me spinning too much and I’ve stopped hitting it fat and get a consistent ball flight. Good video👍

    Another reason players can’t get their right elbow (or trail elbow) in front of the hip is sliding on the downswing. The only way to get the club to the ball when sliding is to release all the angles. My issue. Maybe a future video? Great content. Thank you.

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you get your arms down quick enough then sliding isn’t an issue. Often players slide because they have a bad backswing structure. Also a lot of amateurs think they slide when they don’t

    Giles. What do you advise a player who develops severe golfer’s elbow on their trail arm (right hander) ?

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Often caused by a groovy grip & poor impact conditions. Treat it with some rest and then analyse the swing to find the root cause
