      @@Freakinreviews As a back, and sometimes side, sleeper, I wouldn't know whether I could recommend a specific pillow for a front sleeper either. I think people with lower back problems tend to be more comfortable on their back or side. The only time I've tried sleeping face down it either made my back hurt or I felt like I couldn't breathe and had to turn over to prevent a panic attack.

    • @ThatSoddingGamer
      @ThatSoddingGamer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      If you can't breath sleeping on your front you're doing it wrong. You don't just lay there like a board, facedown. You put your head to the side, propped up (arm either above the pillow holding your head up on the crook of your arm, a bit like sleeping at a desk, or below, where you rest the side of your head on the mound). My sleeping position is a bit like a crawl. Imagine you're crawling under razor wire or something, except you've stopped moving and you know, you're on your bed. It's a 3/4 down position pretty much.
      Now, people with breathing problems of some form or another probably won't do well sleeping on their front, and perhaps people who are especially overweight. I'm pretty heavy, but I still sleep on my front.
      I've never had luck sleeping on my back, just FYI. I've basically never done it in my memory, perhaps excepting one or two rare occasions where I went to lay down and was just utterly exhausted. Usually it felt like blood was pooling in the back of my head or something, and that I was going to get a headache. It's not so bad now, but that's how it used to be. Even though that feeling isn't so prevalent anymore I feel far more relaxed when I go from resting on my back to laying down on my front.
      I had surgery once and it forced me to sleep on my back. I didn't really get any sleep for the first week and a half or so after that. I dozed off for a few hours here and there, but a full night's rest? Nope. I also occasionally put a recliner all the way back when I'm tired, but even then I don't really sleep. It's more of a relaxing light doze and I immediately come awake if I hear someone moving about, or trying to get my attention (verbally or poking me).
      So yeah, back sleeping is anathema to me as much as front sleeping is to some of you.

    • @TheEmbersFromAshes
      @TheEmbersFromAshes 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@ThatSoddingGamer I didn't say I couldn't breathe, said I felt like I couldn't breathe. Having the weight of my torso pressing my chest and ribs into the mattress made it feel like my lungs weren't expanding enough. I did have my head turned to the side. It's more of an anxiety issue for me than a physical thing, aside from the bad back thing anyway.

    • @tomr1056

      I slept on my front for 50 years and then it just didn't work anymore! I woke up with a VERY stiff back for weeks and after treatment and advice I tried to change to side sleeping, which strangely worked very well for the first 4 or 5 nights and then didn't! Now, a few weeks later I am still sleeping on my side but wake up early with a bad back (although not as bad as front sleeping became). I am working on it! Back sleeping with something under the knees?! I justdon't sleep on my back.. we shall see !!

    In the end the Tempur-Pedic will win out, believe me. The foam that is used in the BeautyRest, while good at first, is actually not a "true" memory foam. A lot of companies will say pillows like that are memory foam when in reality they are some other form of a foam type pillow... with continued daily use, it likely would wear down by month 2 or 3, whereas the Tempur-Pedic one will last for years, even if it flattens ever so slightly. This coming from the guy who's mom has 4 different types including the older style Tempur-Pedic lol...

    I actually did some research into the best pillow and many doctors in the sleep studies are recommending that people have more than one pillow. One compared it to shoes, they said you have different shoes for different days, one for mowing the lawn, one for basketball, cleats for soccer, maybe a fancy pair for date night. The same way you might want to have a softer or harder pillow on different days.
    The interesting thing about the firm/soft comparison is that they usually say the very firm ones are for side sleepers since they have to hold your head maybe 4 inches depending on how wide your shoulders are.
    I actually really like the miracle bamboo pillow because it is so thick and firm that it keeps my fat head up when I lay on my side. It DID take a while for it to soften up a bit and become really comfortable, but it is nice to have something that wears in instead of wearing out.
    I also keep a couple down pillows from costco on hand because they are very very soft and good for stomach sleeping.
    But my favorite is the sobakawa pillow. I think mine was the beans72 from amazon because the reviews said it has the most sobakawa, but there is an As Seen On TV version that's worth checking out.

Can't believe what a bargain it was compared to the ones tested in the video!

    I know you published this video a while back but I just came across it today. I have to say that I unfortunately purchased the Tempurpedic pillow about 7 years ago. It cost me $150 and did not provide any cooling properties. As you stated it is very hard but over the coarse of time it only seems to get worse. Not only does it get harder and hotter but it begins to form ridges (bumps) over the entire pillow. With in the first year these ridges were already forming. I use it now under my legs when I’m lying in bed because it is so hard it never went flat. I never tried the Beautyrest memory foam pillow but I might since it looks like it’s something that I might prefer. Thanks and looking forward to more side by side comparison videos.

I wasn’t looking for a pillow but passed through that aisle & it caught my eye. The cool touch is what made me buy it. I like that as well as the soft memory feel. I don’t recall any odor at first. I have yet to put a pillowcase on it for the reason you addressed. I’m mostly a side sleeper, occasionally a back one & never on my stomach. I chuckled when you pointed to the tags having to go. I've had the pillow a couple of nights now and I felt immediate relief after the first use. I highly, highly recommend this pillow to side sleepers. To me, it offers the right kind of support without being too stiff. It also doesn't stink like many other memory pillows do. I'm about 5'10" and got the medium height pillow. I can't recommend it enough.

    I have a much older Tempur Pedic pillow that I bought 10 years ago when I bought my TempurPedic mattress. It is an unconventional shape, flat on one side and wavy on the other, with a low roll on one edge and higher roll on the other. My pillow has definitely developed a small dent on the higher roll edge that I prefer. I have also found that the pillow and mattress, which are made of the same material, start hard, but as they absorb my body heat soften up.

    thanks for confirming it, i have had that beautyrest pillow for 3 years now and i bought it for around $12 in my country and then my baby son (he had 2 years) took it from me saying "mine, this is mine" and as every father, one will give in. been looking for this exact same pillow everywhere with no luck and tried looking for some similar to it, even some expensive tempur pedic pillow and none worked for me.

    I picked up a memory foam pillow off Amazon for around $40 that I really like. It has 3 layers and you can take out the middle to lower it depending on what helps you get comfortable. I don't know the name of it offhand, but I'm sure if you were to run a search you could find it. I like it because I have a waterbed which you'll sink into a bit, so being able to lower the pillow itself definitely helps.

    Well good sir, I just happen to be in the market for a new pillow, the Miracle Bamboo Pillow, I bought a year and a half ago served well, but its becoming much to soft, and no longer supports my head (side sleeper) as well as it once did. And that Beautyrest pillow, is looking dapper.

  • @Juli414
    @Juli414 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I used to use the generic firm pillows, but they were still too soft. About 5 years ago I bought a Tempur-pedic, not the cooling one, for $99. I LOVE that puppy. I do back, side and a bit of front sleeping over the course of the night. It's thick enough that my neck stays aligned. For side and front sleep, I don't have my whole face on it, only from about the temple on back, the rest of my face is hanging off the edge. I know some people like soft pillows, for me, I prefer the support, and don't WANT to sink down. Yes, the cost is more than the generic pillows, but I'm still using it, as opposed to having to get a new one every couple of years because it lost its integrity.

    Yep, Tempurpedic does lose its...umpfh. We bought the bed... we are spooners... middle after 8 months just as drippy as a box spring... they replaced... happened again went to the Latex bed. Haven't regretted it since. They have the pillows you can add or subtract the filling to and so far my hubby (by far the pickiest for beds and pillows) like these pillows the best, and believe me we've invested in hundreds of dollars worth of pillows. Now about to try the purple harmony... I'm the one interested in that. Always enjoy your reviews, thanks a ton! Smiles and blessings...

    I got a comfort revolution pillow years ago from Costco. It has a cooling gel side I think I paid around $80.00 Canadian for it. It is one of the best pillows I have purchased, it is nice and soft and it still looks brand new, the trick is to get a pillow protector for it. I also have a pillow you fill with water it's pretty neat, I think you should do a video comparing a water pillow to a foam one to a cheap Wal-Mart pillow and why not toss in the purple pillow you have as well.

    I have a Tempur-pedic TEMPUR-ProForm Luxury King Pillow high profile, it was about 80 at the time. I was very hesitant on buying it because I only have ever had cheap pillows. I have had it for about 8 months now and I love it. The best way to describe it is that it's firm and soft and oh so comfortable. My only complaint is I wish it was thicker which isn't a huge deal because I slept with 2 pillows all my life. I keep a old cheap flatten pillow under it to give me the height I want, part of reason is I have broad shoulders and sleep on my side.

    I have the tempur cool breeze like 10 pound pillows. The first year I had them I couldn't sleep with them and they spent like 6 months in my closet and as decorative pillows and I thought I wasted $300. Fast forward two years and they are the best cooling and most comfortable pillows I've ever had. I promise in a year the beauty rest will be a soft couch cushion and the Tempur will be just getting nice and broke in.

    So I have the Tempur-Pedic pillow and I loved it at first but it has been 3 months now. Since I'm a side sleeper (that has their head at the end of the pillow) it tends to flatten and soften very easy now but if you sleep on your back in the middle of the pillow it works just as good the day I bought it. I still sleep with it and I have had many stiff pillows from Sleep Number and Tempur-Pedic.

    I use the tempur original contour pillow to this day, it is pricey at 134 bucks, but it is a HEAVY pillow that is very comfortable. It flattens, but tends to stop in just the right position. When I say heavy? It will shake a queen mattress if dropped from 2 feet.
