This definitely needs to happen. Include both the NES and Disk Drive versions of the first game along with GB Return of Samus, along with, I dunno, a Metroid reskin of "Egg" or "Octopus". Metroid's hot right now, it'd be real dumb for them to not capitalize on it.

One thing to note is that changing the language to Japanese for Zelda 1 & 2 actually gets you the Famicom Disk System version of the game, which to my knowledge, has never officially been released in the West before. These versions have some significant differences, like additional sound channels, tile animations, etc. You should definitely play each of them for a few minutes to get a feel for it.

Maybe I'm the only one in the whole world to think like that - but I just LOVE the fact that they put the ORIGINAL version of Link's Awakening on there!!
The color version changed too much of the original feeling for me. I think the black and white graphics are gorgeous given the technical restrictions of the time!
I will never forget the moment when I got that game as a child. It had been advertised as the biggest adventure on the game boy at that time, and I immediately started playing it after unwrapping it as a Christmas gift.
A few years later I even recorded the music from the game with a tiny built-in microphone from my walkman to a cassette before going on a school trip where there were no game boys allowed. So I listened to my tape, closed my eyes and felt like I was back on the strange island again ;-)

Glad to see positive reviews on this little device from Nintendo! Mostly I keep finding "Why waste your money on this thing?!?!" videos lately..
These are for a very niche market. Not for the masses. I grew up where these were the "GameBoys" back when I was in school! And I had a friend who had all of them, and I used to go over his house and play them all!
So when Nintendo released these little devices (again), I jumped on right away!! Yes they are mostly useless now days, but for an old man as myself, I love to collect them, just to collect them.

I'm SO happy they included the original B&W version of Link's Awakening. The GBC version is poorly colorized and is missing the screen warp glitch. If you want the GBC version it's the only version available on 3DS and Switch Online. I'm thrilled they finally released the *real* version of Link's Awakening for those of us who prefer it

Tbh if they hadnt put lost levels on the mario one I probably would have never given it a chance. It's actually quite an amazing game, taking the solid mechanics from the first game and making much more complex levels. I love both of these, hope they do more

There's easter eggs, when you start one of the 4 games by holding A you get full hearts in zelda 1, full hearts full magic in zelda 2, full hearts and sword L2 in link's awakening, and game type C for Vermin. The clock starts zelda1 at midnight and plays the whole game until saving Zelda 24h later, you can play in the clock too. Timer gets a 2nd mode too, where you have to kill all enemies.

I actually don't mind that they used the black and white Gameboy version. They still captured a great piece of Nostalgia for everyone who played the original gameboy without color. I'm pretty sure they were aiming for that feeling. Now imagine playing that version without the backlight, and having to rely on passing street lights while in a moving car. That's how we used to play it!

So many people saying It's hard to get their head around lack of Link's Awakening DX (Colour), but this is Original Link's Awakening, and fulfill's It's role as a show/musuem piece. I had a look at the internal hardware, and the stock internal flash memory is low - maybe they could have maybe fit it on as an alternate version to the Black & White Link's Awakening, but I even noticed slight stuttering in the emulation performance with vanilla Link's Awakening. I just don't think It's too much of a surprise given these various factors.

I always preferred the original black and white Link’s Awakening to the DX remaster. The DX version added too much gimmicky stuff to it, and the original black and white lended a lot to the dreamy atmosphere.
Do the Japan versions of the games have the original Japan soundtracks? They were somewhat different since they were FDS games and had extra sound channels.

It's unfortunate that they couldn't give us the original Zelda G&W game, but it wasn't possible without dual screens. As far as LCD games go, The Legend of Zelda G&W was one of the more elaborate ones and even had a little bit of a story. On a side note, don't forget the _Nintendo Mini Classics_ version of the G&W games, that came out in 1998, and were shaped like keychain sized tiny Game Boys.
