I paid $349 for the 13 inch magic keyboard. While i think the price point is a bit high, I’m happy with the keyboard - it’s a great addition to the iPad. I had the prior version of the magic keyboard…i feel the overall upgrades to the new one are significant
I bought the Magic Keyboard for my 13” M4 and really like it. I previously had the Logitech combo on my 12.9 M1 and it was good, but felt flimsy and often closed the app or locked the iPad if I was trying to type on my lap, so it became a habit to just remove the keyboard and not use it that much (my husband inherited it when I upgraded and doesn’t like using the keyboard). The Magic Keyboard is much sturdier and actually use it a lot more than I thought I would. I have the black version and have not been bothered with fingerprints, etc. It cleans up really easily. I do agree that it would be nice to have a lightweight, slim protective case for the iPad.
I will certainly say the Magic Keyboard for my M4 13" is an improvement over the older one I used with my M1 12.9". I am adding a Burton Goods Leather protective case for my new M4's Magic Keyboard. Yes, all these accessories really drive the overall cost up. It is our own choice whether to go deeply into the wallet. There are less expensive alternatives. So having different products to fit our needs and budget is always good!
I personally wish apple would make a version of the magic keyboard which offers protection in the sides like a case, kinda like the logitech combo folio, and I am willing to pay the price of extra weight for this!
I agree 100% with the cost of that keyboard and what you pay for the iPad Pro M4 or any of them they should make one for better protection. Protect your investment!
@@Anonymous01416 yeah! And it doesn’t help that the keyboard is expensive, and purchasing both the keyboard and the iPad is itself close to the price of a new MacBook, minus the macOS! Apple has seriously nerfed the capabilities of the iPad due to iPadOS , and the least they could do is atleast offer better value for accessories, although apple really doesnt do anything cheaper! 🥹🥹

I’m curious how you could do a thorough review of the new Magic Keyboard without mentioning its major flaw: Tapping the iPad’s touch screen, even lightly, makes the entire combination lean away from you, because the pass-through hinge _doesn’t touch the desk or surface_ on which you are working. Foolish Apple designers neglected this important detail. Why neglect to have the hinge actually make contact with your desk…especially since this is still a touch-screen tablet and the tippy combination of iPad & keyboard is so top heavy?? Major mistake.
I’ve heard people mention this and I’ve almost never had this issue. And this is coming from someone who uses the MK on not only flat desks, but also on my lap, bed, and other uneven surfaces. Sure if you apply extra force it’ll tip over, but from my normal daily usage I never have this issue.
@@cheryls4526 The TH-cam author says it's not a problem for him. In my lap or any other uneven, non-hard surface, it definitely feels tippy and improperly balanced. There's just no excuse for Apple's designers not noticing this top-heave problem and failing to address/fix it prior to release (for $300+!)
Thanks for this video! I would pay the crazy price for it because I'm an artist and I draw on the ipad pro, so getting this makes into a laptop as well without me needing to buy a whole new laptop. It's more versatile for me this way.
Great video - informative and good pace. I think the new Magic keyboard is THE reason to move to the 2024 M4 iPad Pro. I moved from an M1 iPad Pro and the previous Magic Keyboard. This is MUCH Better; particularly for the Trackpad.
I got the white version and the main thing that annoys me is the light bleed from around the keys. I can see it through the sides of the keys as I use it on my knee all the time, so I am finding that annoying. On the 13” black one I had before (I swapped for the 11”) the key letters just lit up like any other keyboard, so for me, this light bleed thing is something I am getting used to with the white keyboard. The worst area being the top row of function keys. They seem to be brighter than the letter keys. However, the “Storm Trooper” look of my black iPad and white keyboard is just so goooood. 😂 Thanks for the video 👍🏻
I was hesitant about purchasing it, especially with the price of the iPad Pro, and then spending another $350. But now that I have it, I really love it! This makes your iPad function like a laptop for work-related tasks, and then you can detach it and use it for entertainment. I really like the feel of it-it’s sturdy and high-quality.
I think it's worh it but I think it should come with a detachable case. For that price it won't add much cost anyway, it just really lacks protection option when I wanna take it off and use it. Tried a couple of third party ones. PITAKA and CoverBuddy, the Magic Keyboard won't fully shut
These are premium stuff…!!! I don’t think I can afford it but I loved watching this video. It’s been a while to comment on your video. Anyways nice shirt sir

Some nice improvements for sure on the new keyboard. I don’t use a keyboard with my iPad. I use my MacBook Pro for any serious work. I wouldn’t pay $349 for the 13 inch keyboard.
It’s great if you want to use it in laptop mode (except for iPadOS). But the moment you want to use your iPad as, you know, a tablet, it becomes useless. Then you have to detach your iPad, which is now unprotected. Solution: make the keyboard detachable, with Bluetooth connectivity. And allow users to run macOS in a virtual machine if they decide to. Perfect all-in-one device.
Thanks for sharing your experience! May I ask, what is it that you enjoy most about the Magic Keyboard specifically over the previous 3rd party options you used?
@@DionMediadefinitely the premium feel and not haven to charge an extra device. I definitely like the trackpad better on the Magic Keyboard better than 3rd party’s.
The price is terrible, with that said I just ordered an 11” M4 Pro and I’ll end up getting it. I’m sure Aliexpress has a $35 knock off that would be similar. But trusting a $1,200 iPad to be secure and not fall off isn’t worth it lol. I’ll probably check for some non Ali Express alternatives though. $299 is a lot of damn money, even if it is nice.
If you draw on iPad, the Magic Keyboard is a huge miss from Apple. There used to be a "Folio Keyboard" that was "enough" keyboard AND I could fold it completely to the back of the device to use the iPad for drawing. No "Magic Keyboard" for me. Apple - provide a Folio Case please!
The system would make more sense if the Ipad was in a robust magnetic case, so that when you detach it from the stand it is protected. But detaching it and needing to put it in a case, then get it out again and put it back on the stand? Repeat 20-30 times a day? Nope. This is perhaps for people who constantly have it on a keyboard stand. But then why not buy a macbook/laptop with an OS that supports laptop use cases? After all, this is a tablet…
Too bad Apple doesn’t offer a smart keyboard folio. This one isn’t as stable and takes up too much space. With the iPad’s touch screen, I have no need for a touch pad that adds weight to the arrangement.
Man it looks good of course but even at 200 I would have considered it overpriced EVEN with Apple tax but 349-399 is insane. You can almost buy a decent laptop or console for the price of a…keyboard Almost a quarter of the price of the whole iPad !! And it is not even a perfect case (for instance this and the folio does not secure the pen like alternatives). Yes other solutions are worse (there is nothing like the official one) but 5 to 10 times less expensive. If you really use it of course and want these features buy it but that’s still a lot lot overpriced.
Do you think the Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro is worth it?
Nop. That is why i did nit buy a magic keyboard
this new iPad Pro M4 is just absolutely amazing it’s good for watchin PORN as well 😃
No, the Logitech combo touch is better
@@carpediemearth agree
Not worth it if you draw on your iPad. Folio Keyboard case was way better.

Its 399€ in Germany, meaning $435 😅

No
Apple makes Watch bands that works 10 years. Also Apple - changes the keyboard of the iPad completely and breaks compatibility every few years.
Is the new Magic Keyuboard backwards compatible with an M1 iPad Pro?
What is that perfume bottle you got in the background? It's intriguing

Hey Dion, why does your name sound so Dutch?

If a protective glass is pasted on the tablet, will it not interfere with the keyboard when closing ?
No, it’s fine. I have a screen protector on mine with the keyboard, and it still fits perfectly.

I disagree, this is not the best keyboard option. Get the logitech one, you can disconnect it easily and its much more portable and way cheaper.
