    Love it! I remember as a 10yr old going for a very fast ride in this car around the local timber yard, including a knight rider style slide turn, when it came to Blenheim NZ on the tour. I have a Polaroid photo somewhere taken sitting in it also. From memory the driver could only take rides in about 10min bursts because the engine was getting too hot. Riding in that car is a childhood memory I will never forget! Thanks for posting the video. I always wondered what became of that particular car.

      I wonder if this car is actually street-legal in NZ? They have very strict regulations on custom cars, and most of the American hot-rod type cars would fail certification in NZ.
      I guess it is mostly interior that make up KITT, but I expect the California plates are not legal in NZ, and this car also has no front plate, which is also illegal in NZ - you have to have front AND rear plates. I guess being a show car, it does not require 'Official' licensing, so long as you truck it place to place, and only drive it on private roads and no public ones.

    Id like to see the later version that had Super Pursuit Mode. With the added aero.

    • @StormsparkPegasus
      @StormsparkPegasus 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'd have to find a hobbyist made replica then. None of the super pursuit mode cars (the static one, or the engineless transforming one) survive, since they were all built out of train derailment cars that were required to be crushed after the show ended.

    I saw KITT, when I was 9 years old back then, and although I was not able to have a photo taken with KITT, because my parent’s couldn’t afford it. I remember seeing the car and also saw a lot of kids in a line so I asked my mum, if I could go and have a photo taken with KiTT, my mum asked me if she had to pay money to have photo taken? I said I don’t know, I will go and ask. I went and asked the person in the office and asked the man behind the counter and he said I had to pay and that is $80. I thanked him and told my mum and she said no, sorry as she not have much money. I was sad, but I got over it. I have it as a memory, and that is worth more than a photograph

    • @audreyseddon9749
      @audreyseddon9749 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That kind of policy is common, especially for conventions and such, to have to pay extra money (above and beyond the ticket price) just to speak to a celebrity or have your photo taken with them. The only time I ever paid was for what I knew would be a once in a lifetime event, because the person was likely to never visit again.

    • @markusjuenemann

      @@HyRax_Aus If you look closely, you can recognize the font used on the keycaps. The VIC-20s font is different from the font used on the C64. It's a bit more "square-ish", if you know what i mean. But it's good to know, I'm not the only one who has recognized this... 😂

Transforming KITT into something he's not is like, um, I don't know, like, um, some major studio / theme park conglomerate taking a sci-fi franchise and changing it into something it never was. 🥴

      It’s decent except for that center console. That’s easy enough to correct. There is a guy in Italy with perhaps the best two-screen S1/2 dashes. He could whip up a show-accurate panel like it was nothing.
