Solo Wild Camping On A Viking Hill. (Sherwood Forest)

This week i was traveling back from the Peak District and i decided to swing into Sherwood Forest to see the Major Oak. I wanted to camp right in Sherwood Forest itself but there are so many tracks and have heard the Land is owned by a Posh estate and they aren't the friendliest so i thought best to find an alternative spot.
I had so much planned for this camp but i ended up waking up very ill in the middle of the night with a Norovirus which made me sick every half an hour for about 15 hours.
Sorry for the lack of content in the video. sometimes you win... sometimes you just get ill. haha.

Hey Craig, no wories about the video, it was still a good watch. Having stumbled across your videos from Simon a Bloke in the Woods, I love the insipration, to the point where I bought a cheap 1 man tent and spent the weekend in my backgarden without going back in doors, even when it dropped to -3 on Saturday night up near Diss. My Mrs thinks its a bit mad in that weather but I had a lot of enjoyment having the excuse of trying out some of the techniques I've picked up from watching your videos. Keep up the great work and I'll keep an eye out for you next time I'm sailing down the Orwell! ;)

Feel like I’m hogging the comments a bit but the Major oak had supports on the branches when I was a kid. I’m 63 this month. That’s one old tree, if only it could talk.
I live in the United States in ohio near a town called logan. Theres a cemetery that has an oak tree that is huge. You cannot begin to wrap your arms around it and theres limbs that go way out and touch the ground. Some of the limbs mush be almost 2 foot in diameter. I often wish it too could talk I know hands down it would defiantly have my full undivided attention 😃.

You should check out the tree at doveridge church, about 30miles west of Nottingham. Said to be the tree robin and maid Marion were married under.

I have one of those forest fundamentals pouches. Keep my fire making gear in it. Give it a coat of wax once in a while to keep it waterproof, nice little bit of kit

Great Video sorry you were unwell, I feel Thynghowe has a sacred burial ground up on the hill that was used for ritual as well as a main meeting place for the clans to get together. I think there maybe more than three graves. The sickness and headaches you felt were coming from the energy there, you seem like a sensitive soul that can pick up on these things.

Cracking video craig, up my neck of the woods lol, Sherwood forest is a cracking place, if you go back, up near the visitor centre, across the road is a cracking shop, does amazing leatherwork ,custom stuff too, plus cool other stuff in there, definitely worth a look, you'd love it, the bivi hammock is a sweet quick rig, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig 🙏 🌿

Good to see that even though you had an open fire, you cleared it up and left no trace! Must admit not a fan of using open fires, unless on my own land. As for the Major Oak, I'm 60 now and when a kid remember the protective barrier not being there and was able to get inside the major oak and have that experience. Great video.

What you've done with Sherwood is really cool. Another TH-camr Spicy110 did something similar but the next person had to hide it and post a video so someone else could find it. It's called "The Spicy Hunt". If you get Sherwood back it would be cool to see you do it, it's really good for people to find smaller channels. Hopefully you're feeling better than you did in the video 👍
