    I don't like the USB ports in the Jeep Wrangler and the wires handing all over the place are messy so I added a hidden USB box in my glove box to power my tablet and phone and hide all the wires.

    Nice Casey- My JLURD is still getting the turbo replaced in Utah. So close to Moab but so far. I will be driving the 720 miles with the rental to pick it up on Oct 23 and bringing it back to Oregon. Ill let you know how all this goes next week. I hope your turbo stays happy and doesn’t crap out like mine did after 6000 miles.

    Thanks a lot for sharing - I did not realize the aux switches can be used for wiring inside the jeep. It was not clear how you pulled your wires from the glove box through the dash but I will try to figure it out.

    Casey 250, how many wires can you tuck behind the trims? How many did you tuck? Can you link to some automotive grade usb cables that you used and their lengths?

  • @shawnc9584
    @shawnc9584 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is awesome! Do you know if you can run the USB extensions down under the dash where the 67 designs bar mount is versus back along the windshield without too much effort?

    • @Casey250
      @Casey250  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can. You can remove the stereo very easy. But once the 67 designs bar is on its kind of annoying to do.

    Hey Casey, another great video. You made this so easy to follow, even those of us who are electrically challenged should be able to add this mod. A question I have is why do you need a tablet in the jeep for navigation. I see you have the 8.4” screen in your jeep.. Why don’t you just use an app like GAIA on the screen in the jeep. Your tablet looks really bulky to have bouncing around on that mount when you are off roading. I AM ADDICTED, KEEP THOSE VIDEOS COMING !

    • @Casey250
      @Casey250  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know gaia is on screen with apple car play and not android yet but its something ive thought about. Id need to do some testing to see how it works, automotive screens usually arent as responsive to touch as tablets either. I wouldn't want wires hanging around so maybe its possible to put a small tablet in the center console... But then itd need GPS and not sure how well it would do in there.

    • @skiperw
      @skiperw 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Casey 250 Casey: yup, I think you are right about android. I have it for my apple set up and it works great. Love the map layering available on the screen. Hope you can get it on android real soon.

    • @TaterFarmer154
      @TaterFarmer154 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the iOS Gaia app and you do lose some functionality on the 8.4” screen. Example, whatever map layer is up on the phone is on the Jeep screen and has to be changed via the phone.

    Hey Casey, I've been wondering how this has been working out for you on the trails/ if your accessoiries ever got any charge ? ;)
    Found this to be a superb idea and so I ordered those exact components off the bay. Ended up soldering the USB box directly onto the cable as the cig-plugs (both male and female) inbetween were such bad quality, that Ithey hardly ever managed to make any contact or stay together in my driveway, much less on the road or trail ;)
    That being said, the hub in the glovebox now works like a charm though and solves one of the JLs most basic shortcomings in this day and connected age.

    • @Casey250
      @Casey250  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya, it has been fine, idid switch to a more compact version with usb only as i needed more glove box space.

    Why not use one of the AUX switches and change the settings in the uConnect to turn on with key? Guessing you have lots of potential future addons to use them...;)

    • @Casey250

    it's called Tesa Tape - I would wrap some around the 12v socket to keep the plug in place - www.amazon.com/Tesas-Advanced-Harness-51036-Mercedes/dp/B01I2MLN2Q/ref=pd_lpo_60_t_0/143-0546891-5530906

    Question the jeep JL and Gladiator only come with 4 Auxiliary Switches can you hook up more them one item to each wire. do you know I have pod lights that have a Amber backlight that I have them on as soon as jeep is running and I just picked up the set of Oracle LED Grill Light Kit I wanted to hook them up to the same wire I have the Pod light backlight don't know if I can?

    • @Casey250
      @Casey250  ปีที่แล้ว

      Based on what you said there, id say you can as long as nothing exceeds the total amps available for the circuit and the wiring gauges are the right size.
