Rest and Ice packs helps a lot during a flair up. I had one yesterday and on a 1-10 level it was an 8. I rested, kept my legs raised on top of pillows, used biofreeze. After 2 hours my pain level was around a 6. I took an epsom salt cold bath in the evening. Within 12 hours my pain level was a 2. I had a PT a few years ago how had a staff for massages. At the end of PT exercise, stretches, they would used an ice pack and then end with a 10 minute massage. It helped a lot!
Good morning Alyssa from El Paso, Tx. Just to let you know that I follow your multiple advices given in several videos and my day turned from black to white and now I am at a point where can spend days with no pain at all. Mornings take a hot Tea of Green Tea, Cinnamon and Cloves plus an Omega 3-6-9 capsule and it has been making a world of a difference along with exercise, a healthy diete with things that help inflammation and loosing weight. I thank you because you have made so easy the transition of a life in pain to a almost no pain life. Hopping to meet you some day to thank you personally!
My knees, muscles, cramps in thigh, & feet - I've never had it this bad. In bed for 2 days. I've been gardening, but I don't get much done. I'm 65, and have ulcerative colitis. My nurse practitioner said she could not prescribe anything because it would effect my U. C. . I'm suffering through it. Thanks for the advice.
ive had Chronic pain for the last 5 years and just found out i have severe osteoarthrits in my hips. There is nothing other then laying down that helps. I have pain in my back, hips and knees (might not be related) Life is very tough. Im on the waiting list for a total hip replacement. Some days i just feel like giving up because i cannot keep doing this anymore.
i remember to take it a day at a time...truly. i tell myself to just make it through TODAY. then the next day...i say tgat again, over and over. i feel overwhelmed when i think past one day. i PRAY A LOT AND OFFER UP MY PAIN for someone who has it worse.
Oof…I feel like I’m having a all over flare the last couple of days. The hot tub helped this morning. Thank goodness we have it. Slow walk today and gentle flow yoga. Hoping it gets better soon.
Really good advice. I have learned the hard way to stop and rest until I am able to begin again without pain. I was one of those people that tended to continue exercising and it only made things worse. Then I start one of your gentle warm up videos and use ice if needed until the flare up subsides. I am usually able to stay off of meds of any kind unless the flare up is extreme. In my case, the flare up is usually IT band flare up which started after hip surgery. I am not sure if a knee sleeve will relieve this kind of pain, but the Ace Wrap may be helpful. I will be using massage as well. Thanks again for this excellent video. I am glad I came across it today. Thanks!!!
I have a flare up in my middle left side toe! It's been over 8wks and now my lft knee is flared along with my hip and buttock. I'm so frustrated now. I had both my knees partially replaced 2 yrs ago but this Toe is messing everything up. I'm a huge fitness fan. All types plus I just lost 45 pounds I gained after surgery on knees then a bowel resection due to severe Crohn's disease. I had recovered so well and was fixing to start the knees over toes guy workout then I stumped my toe. 😅 So glad I found your videos. Any advice is greatly appreciated as I am considering seeing another Dr or other professional that may be able to help me.
I'll try the pillow, gloves and socks. If I stand for more than 6 hours my feet hurt so bad. My husband did get me a massage gun for my back pain. I agree with the CBD. When the meloxicam dont work as well. I used the raw full spectrum CBN + CBD and the CBG + CBD oil. Thanks for the information.
Hi Doc, thanks for these tips. I've been dealing with knee pain and inflammation for 4 months now as result of wear and tear cartilage damage. I'm 43 but I work as a waitress standing up for up to 8 hours daily. I will be attending physical therapy soon after having gel shots that flared up my knee. I was looking into opening your guide but sends me to Facebook then it gets lost. Could you send me another link or another way to review your guide? Thanks again, Alejandra 😊
I’m 33 now and been dealing with pain for more than 12 years. My hips, knees and more hurts. I have RA all over. Fibro and more. I stay positive everyday. But being in pain 24/7 is exhausting
Dr wright (tahoma clinic) calls osteoarthritis b6 responsive arthritis. Mother in law's fingers straightened up, unswelled and pain went away after taking 100mg./day for a few days. Sometimes it takes more, sometimes less
Hi I start to have arthritis, i use to run but I stop because I have pain in the adductors , groin and even in the inner side and back of my leg . That is part of the flare up of my front and side artrhytis or is a tendon problem as says my Phyo than I start to see. My question is I have toe différents problems or this two problem are connected. Now when I walk 20 minutes or I augment the level of execice I have pain in the inner side of my leg and sometimes my pain for arthritis increase in the night. Thanks for the video?
Hi Alyssa I have osteoarthritis in my foot, should I carry on running on my treadmill even if I get a flare up every so often. I want to keep fit mentally and physically and I enjoy it. Daniel.
I'm active as I'm a window cleaner, so climbing ladders has probably caused the osteoarthritis in the first place, strength wise I have strong legs and calves, healthy weight, I'm very mobile but my feet let me down whether it is exercise or work, I battle on regardless though! Mentally I haven't dealt with it yet and am having trouble coming to terms with it at 41 years old.
You can find ways to plateau the symptoms and prevent the increased severity of symptoms! So yes, you can but it really depends on the person. It does require work but it is possible.

Do you have any particular video recommendations for gentle movement exercises after a flare up?

Good advice! I can vouch for the compression gloves! Putting them on gives almost instant relief, and 30 minutes at a time is enough.
Yep, glad you like it!
Your videos and hopeful message has been a godsend for me. Thank you !

Do u mean vitamin b 6
?
@@rit20095 yes. Also called pyridoxine.
@@rit20095 for difficult cases, you might need to add same amount of vitamin b 3 (niacin)
Dr you re great to these remedies for my arthritis t u
can you prevent flare ups forever if you are always listening to the body to not overdue any movements?
Thank you
Welcome!
I have rheumatoid arthritis and have flare-ups often. I wonder if I can follow this as well safely?
compression needs to be used even when exercising?
It doesn’t *need* to be used but can be very helpful!
I feel like l'm ALREADY resting my joint most of the time. Even one good day where l get my work done is enough to have me laid up for days.

Compression sleeves game changers
I think shapewear can help
I have rheumatoid arthritis and if I eat anything with oil, I’ll get a flare. Avoiding further oil helps the flare go down within a couple days…
Would an omelet be a bad idea for you too? Just wondering because I've just been diagnosed with RA and I love my omelets🙏🏼
Hi Alyssa
I have osteoarthritis in my foot, should I carry on running on my treadmill even if I get a flare up every so often.
I want to keep fit mentally and physically and I enjoy it. Daniel.
If you are experiencing flare ups it’s important to understand why it’s happening. Could be strength, could be balance, could be mobility, etc.
I find massaging my knees helps with Deep Prep II to massage and Stopain gel. Both used at physical therapist office.
Are there any supplements/vitamins that will help.?
A good Curcumin; UltraCur.. Also, be careful if you're eating grains, sugar, unhealthy oils.
I keep getting flare-ups in my neck and almost my whole body.
My knee has swollen up like a basketball twice in the last couple of weeks. Should I rest it for a couple of weeks?
Have you changed anything in the past couple of weeks or done anything new? It’s important to figure out why swelling is happening.
I can't find the ultimate arthritis diet attachment
Night shifts are always guaranteed to flare my pain.
can you live a normal life with osteoarthritis
You can find ways to plateau the symptoms and prevent the increased severity of symptoms! So yes, you can but it really depends on the person. It does require work but it is possible.
@@arthritisadventureIs there a specific video in your channel that helps us live such a life? And will it progress with age?
My life involves a lot of poking the bear❤😂
a hot shower with the water directed at my hip or bag or knee helps me too.
Thanks for sharing

Nothing helps😢😢😢😢😢
Your a nice woman x
Very instructive video. Maybe stop moving during the video as it is really distracting(even you are stressing gentle movement)
