I have a 16 yr old Jack Russell who I’ve had since he was 2 mos old. He’s been the best mouser and protector. He can no longer hear, smell or see, but he’s still faithful ❤️

Ive had one dog who obviously saw colors. He would sit and watch tv, while his brother never did and i dont think he could. The other one would get a ball , among identical balls in different colors. He would fetch the red one if we asked . Or the blue one. If he is seeing shades of grey, then he learned to associate a particular shade of grey with a word. Still just as impressive, if not moreso.

He is a pure bred Border Collie going back 7 generations at least. Excellent sense of smell and sound, I reckon his sight is just as good but just doesn't rely upon it as much as the other senses. If i throw two identical tennis balls he will always bring back the one I rubbed in my arm pits first :-)

5:00 My Hound 'Buddy' can spot another dog at 200 yards ... that can't be blurred vision?

@@BobbyDoggyy He isn't used to other dogs because he was kept in a cage when young and never socialised. So when we are out, walking the fields, I see his sudden change in posture. I look around and ponder and then see in the distance someone with another hound. With a fluke wind it could be scent I suppose? I think Dogs ears and scent alert us to use our eyes and defensive sense. That's how come we make such good friends 🙂

I'd like to know how they tested the teaspoon of sugar thing.

I'd like to know how they discovered any of this. All they can do is study the structures of their eye and compare them with what those structures do in humans. They could well have evolved to mechanism where the same rods or cones do different jobs. When they can actually see out of a dogs eyes then we will know for sure. If a dog can catch a tiny treat in its mouth, it's visual acuity if pretty darn good.
