Apologies, but that lady is beauuuutiful!!! Love radiates from her!!! Even more when she smiles! It’s like the sun came out! I wish her many more years of health to share her God given gift with us all. I never heard of her until yesterday but now I am a fan and will help spread her energy to those who will appreciate it!
Thanks so much for sharing. I was privileged to hear her play two solo recitals at Carnagie Hall in the early 1990s. The greatest pianist of this century. What a wonderful recording! So grateful!
She is the living evidence of the components of genius. The open excitement of an eternal teenager allied to mature awareness of her skill, her power and responsibilities to her composers and her audience, allied to a lifetimes accumulation of interpretative and musical gifts that have taken to a level at which one only marvel at and be grateful for
@@dancingkangaroo1036 I would say that personal vanity is the LAST thing she has- she wears little if any makeup; she has made no attempt to disguise her hair as it has grayed; she always wears plain, comfortable- fitting black clothes onstage. She's clearly interested in the work and only the work. In other words she does everything she can to NOT draw attention to her- just the music. She's wonderful.

God, she plays Prokofiev piano concerto no 3 and no 1 absolutely stunning. But why she doesn't plays no 2 ??? I think that concerto is really worth playing too
K C Prokofiev Piano concerto2 has got to be one of the most beautiful pieces ever composed ,the second movement is heartbreakingly soulful, has Argerich never played this in public?
@@sarahjones-jf4pr she's been known to hate playing solo, so I wonder if the long cadenza in the first movement is what keeps her from playing it. It's much longer than say the Rach 3 cadenza. I get the sense she doesn't like to be the center of attention for that long

Martha wants to be left alone and does not like questions. I fully understand her, she want to relax and think about something else. Her ears need peace.
A short, 2-minute discussion of Prokofiev would have been more appropriate. This extended interview on camera was painful. These world class artists were being so kind to the interviewer despite the circumstances.
She want to sleep and relax herself thinking about anything, but they continuing to boring her... That's really unpleasant, they can't shut up and leave her in peace.
She does actually have plenty to do on her mobile. She receives a gazillion WhatsApp messages and emails a day, and, contrary to popular belief, she actually reads every single one of them. Whether she replies or not is altogether another matter... :)
SProkofieff O! I’m not doubting how busy Martha is or how much work she can get done on her phone. Even I, a non-celebrity, need to spend an hour or more a day responding to emails or msgs on my phone. But I wouldn’t do it during an ‘interview’ or a convo with a small group of people unless i was feeling especially antisocial that day or if i wasn’t too fond of the interviewer.
Omg you people need to chill, this is one video of her being on her phone and you guys are going off about how she's addicted to her phone and whatnot. You can't tell that from just one video.
I love Marha Argerich but I have noticed that she tends to get annoyed with people very easily. She also seems to be a bit anti social and moody! I still love her playing very much.
This was spectacularly uninteresting. The Singaporean guy was prying, giggling and asking shallow questions. The conductor seemed delighted to do some PR but had nothing thrilling to say. Argerich looked half pissed, half defensive. Please leave artists alone. Film your children or your pets, they won't mind. And you'll possibly get even more likes. 🤪
I agree! You rarely see Martha enjoying an interview. She likes to have good conversations, but interviews are mostly - exactly as you said - shallow. She does not like that and I can't blame her!
I beg to differ. I always find it interesting to see famous people in 'normal' everyday situations, however blasé or boring they might be, showing they're human just like you and me. I have met some of them in such situations myself, including Georg Solti.
I have records of solo music she made in her early career, it is such a shame she hawks around the world banging out these tired 19th c. concertos to mindless adulation. I agree that it is where the money is.
This is what it means to be a classical musician and a true artist.. These pieces constantly change and grow with the artist. ..one can always go deeper and find more truth, more ease, other expressions... The music is a living, breathing work....
if Martha had had a smartphone as a child we likely would not be enjoying her genius today.
Martha is really the oldest teenager alive.😂😂😂

Martha Argerich is my favorite pianist. She is the very essence and embodiment of Greatness.
Her humility is fantastic. Such a master.

Liszt's first Piano Concerto is indeed unplayable without the triangle, check the second movement if you're curious why
