You can say that again! 😑 Worked at a vet clinic for years, and I've gotta say, there should be some kind of testing a person should have to pass before ownership.. one person told me not to show any kind of affection to her puppy since it was "being groomed to be aggressive".. 😡
And I thought Border Collies were intense. These dogs definitely need an environment where they can run off steam and be mentally stimulated. I can see where they would be perfect for military.
@@anniew.4467 a lot of these dogs in the video reminded me of my heelers, they do the almost exact same things. Since you own three how good are they at dodging? I'm thinking of trying one to work with cattle, horses and guarding the homestead from predator animal's in tandem with my Heeler, and one of my heelers job's is to break up bull fights which can have sudden direction changes. Also are these dogs prone to wandering? I don't have dog fence's nor do I kennel as I already mention they have guard duty which is hard to do lock up, which is one of the reasons of having a heeler instead of border collie because of their tendencies of going to work without you, I don't need my animals being unnecessary harassed by the dog that's suppose to be protecting them.
yeah! But they are beautiful dogs! Love the breed. Would want one when I am able to. Gonna have to learn more about dog training though. But then again, I grew up with the breed and last one we had from the shelter was not this intense.... I think that when they are bred to be a military dog or work dog they are more intense. But I think you have the lower energy ones too.. NOT SURE; But if it's like that, I'd go for a lower energy one myself.
My maliraptor is a sweet girl but she has particular taste in people and im still trying to figure her out on that one. Ive never had a dog that will look back into your eyes like they are having a conversation with you. They are without a doubt the best and most unique breed i've had the pleasure of owning. Truly remarkable!!
@@e.2862 No it is not play. Allowing the dog to snap and bite at the air is a very clear warning for the handler to take control or back off. The handler clearly has no idea how to take control. The Belgium will do what's natural after giving plenty of warnings, and bite. He will bite hard and quick at first as a mother does to a pup. If the handler does not take control even then the Belgium will not hesitate to rip the handler a new one. Belguims are unforgiving when it comes to routine and pack order. If you mess up either one they will quickly become destructive.
That lady tapping her dog on the nose with her finger is going to lose her whole freaking hand if she keeps antagonizing him. No dog will tolerate that for long no matter what the breed.
I really didn't like that either, what's the point even? You playing with her or purposefully aggravating her? If she thinks that's playing she's very ignorant or maybe she thinks that's training her somehow, either way it's very unnecessary.
tbh she wasn't "wrong" per-se for booping his snoot, though I get that doing it like this just for the purpouse of being annoying is wrong, your dog should be OK with you touching him/her anywhere. If your dog gets this defensive just for a boop you should tell him off right away. Can't have a dog that's agressive towards the owner. If you took that dog to the groomer and they start snipping around his private parts they're losing an arm and you can't have that. Teach your dog right.
Guys, relax. The dog is playing. Some Mals (dogs in general) pull their flew and nose back or "smile" when excited. There's a lot more to an aggressive dog than just showing teeth.
I’ve never seen anything quite like this breed. They’re like compact German Shepherds that either have severe ADHD or are on an unlimited supply of crack. I absolutely love it, and I’m considering getting one way, way in future, but for now I’ll just sit back and watch them jump fences and run circles around anything that moves.
I don't know much about the Belgian Malinois, but it's clear that they're a very unique breed. I've been a Pit Bulldog man my whole life and I see a lot of Bulldog drives, characteristics, personality and physical ability in the Belgian Malinois. I know that this breed must owe everything to the people who maintain it, so, well done to you Malinois folk. The Belgian Malinois has now added a 3rd breed to the list of which I'd happily partner with.
Malis are one of the funnest breeds to train. I wouldn't say... difficult, but it is trying, and beyond grueling depending on what field you want them in. Can say with great certainty, they are NOT a good house pet. Can they be? sure, most if not all dogs can. People seem to think that huskies have energy, they have never played/trained with a mali. I worked with a couple who trained them to be bomb dogs and they were absolutely wonderful but impossible to keep up with in my case, and my first hurdle was to get used to the Mali Smile which scares the piss out of a lot of people. They are definitely intense dogs, more of a working dog than most. Funny story, that couple I was working with sold my favorite (Lestat, the calmest of the bunch) to a friend because he had the gentlest temperament. Come to find out down the line that they breed him with a husky and uhh. Well, if any dog deserves the name and title, Destructo Dog was born. Up to this point, they have trained it quite well but it sleeps in a double pen, since he has proven to be able to gnaw through metal given enough time. Destroyed entire doors, peeled up floors, broke IN to the house through the cellar which was his original kennel space by climbing ontop of the cooler to jump up and chew through the floorboards directly into the master bedroom. This is all a dog that has been going through training its whole life, and it listens and adheres to every command given to it almost flawlessly but needs stimulation outside of work and play times. They love him to death, and he has costed them over $70k in home repairs and new dog equipment (kennels, leads, collars, toys, even just straight up barrels and other home-depot prefabs to try and make it's personal space bigger)... at only 4 years old.
@John Williams Regarding basic obedience training Malinois can be sensitive to certain techniques that may create setbacks while achieving your goals with them. They’ll teach the handler more about themselves in that keeping a patient, calm demeanor is the only way to go, my two cents. Good times. 👍
I have a daily fun of arguing with my mali-gsd mix 😁🤣. Not the breed for the beginners, but if you manage to tame the beast, they'll give their life for you .
I have a Belgian malinois, she does like to bite sometimes, but she is the best thing I ever had, she really loves spending time with you and loves cuddles❤❤❤
I would say most of the people in these videos have no business owning the Malinois. These dogs should only be sold to educated owners. They are not stickers on your refrigerator.
I agree that most ppl don't fully understand what breeds their buying. My male and female labs had 2 litters i trained my male for waterfowl while i picked a my female up from some ppl that didn't understand what attention labs need, she still doesn't listen 100% what I would like her to but that bitch will hold you in the car in the driveway if she doesn't know you so i looked into how alot of these Malinois are handled and this has helped tremendously I have no fear of letting the kids play in the yard while I'm busy as long as she's out. One thing though a well trained lab woulda damn near drowned itself trying to get the tennis ball at the bottom of the pool but i have great respect for the Malinois breed and hands down the best trainable dogs.

Malinois are some of the smartest animals around and it was fun trying to keep up with him. Around the family, awesome. Only thing was, if I went to spank or spat my son on the butt for doing something wrong, I hit dog. Nero was very protective of my son.
I took in a Giant Schnauzer Malinios Mix female as an emergency foster 3 years ago. She was 7 months old and I was already the 5th household. I thought until then to know everything about dogs because I always had dogs (including Rhodesian Ridgeback). I was very quickly taught better. She has everything from both breeds - but the Malinois is dominant in her. We grew together- I don't want to miss her- but it was/is an adventurous way... I never had such an intelligent will to please dog- challenging me every minute. I love her- but it is a lot of work. Don't want to bring that, find a retriever ....
I raised Rotts and they were a great love. More laid back and more of an independent worker. These are really intence and need the atmosphere they were intended for. I would be honest and say that this is too much dog for me at this time in my life. At 14 I would have kept up with this canine.

You can say that again! 😑 Worked at a vet clinic for years, and I've gotta say, there should be some kind of testing a person should have to pass before ownership.. one person told me not to show any kind of affection to her puppy since it was "being groomed to be aggressive".. 😡
Half these ppl are complete morons.
Anyone insane enough to give a Malinois coffee is deserving of what ever havoc it can make while on that caffeine high.
Caffeine is very bad for dogs.

Agreed! I have a Belgian malnois, but my parents don’t trust Rottweilers. Who am i, trusting even pit bulls (obedience trained)

And I thought Border Collies were intense. These dogs definitely need an environment where they can run off steam and be mentally stimulated. I can see where they would be perfect for military.
@@anniew.4467 They behave like a large Heeler.
@@anniew.4467 How much do you know about Heelers?
In fact, now they use it in police instead of German Shepherd because they're faster, stronger, cost less and have a better instinct of hunting ^^
I think I got a Golden Retriever dressed up as a Malinois. She’s so sweet and nice to everyone and other dogs.
Love my Mal (even though he drives me completely bonkers!).
Pretty sure tapping a Malinouis on the nose to provoke him isnt in the training manual.
Some people shouodnt have dogs.
What do you mean training manual?
That's called a Danger Boop. Don't try it if you're not a professional. 😂
there is no training manual.
it is just play

Malinois are unique very Smart and they Love action .

Mali dog is a hyperactive dog, so if you are a dog owner who just wants to sit around, this breed is not for you.
@Epi King
Underrated comment!
Epi King I didn’t know about these dogs until today. Wow I’m amazed!
@@NODAK9 How different are they from pitbulls?
@John Williams
Regarding basic obedience training Malinois can be sensitive to certain techniques that may create setbacks while achieving your goals with them. They’ll teach the handler more about themselves in that keeping a patient, calm demeanor is the only way to go, my two cents. Good times. 👍

Awww I have a Maligator and he is all of the above hahahaha
And they wonder why their Mal digs a hole under their house and rips out the plumbing...smh
@@patrioticconstitutionalist735 labs are so popular every one wants them!
@@lyt_w8t they are great dogs, but just like any breed it depends on the training they get that makes good dogs.

Other dogs smile but these dogs laugh with their mouths wide open! Very proud of their pearly whites. And what is that little chatter all about? It is so cute and adorable. I pray to God they dont ever get abused abandoned and exploited. Please protect this breed. they are not novelty dogs. Pitties were a fad then abused and abandoned. they seem to be real fun loving too in spite of their remarkable training. God bless and protect them from the real evil. HUMANS!

LOYAL AND PROTECTIVE
I miss my partner. We rode together and worked for 11 years and yes, he was spoiled, smart and had his own personality. Balloons didnt stand a chance and neither did a Honey Bun.

Freakin beautiful and so smart so agile. Such great dogs like the Rottie shot I use to raise love them too
I raised Rotts and they were a great love. More laid back and more of an independent worker. These are really intence and need the atmosphere they were intended for. I would be honest and say that this is too much dog for me at this time in my life. At 14 I would have kept up with this canine.

Running deer with dogs is illegal in most states 😳
Petra MCCafferty why?
I'm glad we dont know where the deer running was. They are allowed to run them off the property though. This type dog can learn the difference, QUICKLY.
And you'd be a complete POS to let your dog chase wildlife. A total douche.
A good way to get your dog shot.
It's also dangerous for your dog. Even a young deer is strong enough to one-shot disfigure a dog with a backfeet kick
