My hair was extremely itchy even before I got my locs and I even had to go to a dermatologist to figure out why, now that I’ve got my starter locks I’m only a week in and my god is the itchiness killing me
My Family Fixed This - Naturally: 1. Wash your hair with Sulfur 8 shampoo, using a silicone scalp massager. 2. Let it dry naturally. Be sure to blot the excess water with a brand new towel or one that you have never used on your hair / body before. 3. That night, SMOTHER your entire head with Vaseline - wrap it in a scarf and sleep that way. Why? The easiest, most 'natural' way to kill the yeast / candida and anything else that is living on your scalp which is what is probably happening - in a matter of minutes - is to simply smother it - NO OXYGEN means no ability to breathe, thrive, grow or survive. 4. The next morning, mix bentonite clay, apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil (whatever ration you want...it really does not matter) into a bowl (do not use a metal spoon when mixing clay - use plastic or wood only). SMOTHER your scalp with the clay, let it dry then just sit under the shower and let it rinse off until the water runs clear. You may need to do this a few times to get all of the Vaseline off of your scalp and hair - but you'll see that you've just 'killed' the yeast when not one hair follicle itches. Repeat weekly, or as often as you need to and be sure to hot wash with white vinegar and baking soda all of the bedding, towels, clothing and anything else that it may be living on. (fyi never mix bleach and vinegar). We tried this - and it literally solved the problem overnight. If there is a new issue we just repeat the process. Good luck everyone, and God Bless!
When I started my locks, I was told not to wash my hair on my own. I couldn’t wait until my next retwist appt. I put a stocking cap on and washed my hair. Luckily the twist weren’t disturbed and my scalp felt pure relief!
I wash my hair, two weeks of my starter loc I just washed it. Three months later I’m still loc, Locs unravel its part of the process I can’t walk around with itchy or smelly hair.
Thank you for this video I’ve had my hair locked for 3 days now, I’ve never suffered from an itchy scalp before and I washed my hair every two weeks and used Olive oil daily. My natural hair grew pretty long but I always wanted my hair locked. But since it’s been locked my scalp has been driving me mad. And obviously been told not to wash it I honestly thought I’m not going to get through the next couple of weeks with this itchy scalp so I’m soooo glad I’ve come across this video I’ve just grabbed my spray bottle and Olive oil so I can stop patting my head like a mad woman.
My loctician told me to wash mine. I didn’t have this problem. By the time i got itchy it was time to go get them retwisted. My 1st year i was very consistent with my retwist. I got them done every 3-4 weeks. Now since I am over 2 years in i get my hair retwisted every 3 months and i love it. Great video and i love your Locs they are stunning.
Oh you had a good loctician! That’s what’s up, because I’ve heard so many other people who didn’t 😩 lol Thank you so much for the compliments, Queen 🤗🌹🌹🌹
I'm glad I found this because I been wanting to loc up for awhile but my scalp has eczema on it and it itches like hell if I don't wash it at minimum once every 2 weeks. Thank you🙌🏾
Thank you I’m so glad you gave me this tip I’m locked 4 months in just got my hair retwisted she gave me a light washes cause my hair is locking! But I thought it was the product I texted her she asked me too used alittle water 💦 too but no oil it feels so better thanks 😊 for the tips I appreciate it! I thought she used a different product? But she said no well thanks 😊 how much water 💦 once I used it can I do this all the time when it itches ? Idk 🤷♀️
After we put the oils on our scalp, what's next? Do we just let it absorb it and that's it? If our scalp still itches the next day should we clean our scalp by spraying water and repeat the whole process?

I think because when you are loc especially starter locs you're not using conditioner. I noticed that I'm low prosperity so I am used to my hair is dry. Thank God I'm interlocked day 9. But the itching is reaaaaaallllll. She told me lemon water. And oils.
I have bn locked for 2 years. I have sisterlocs & your locs are gorgeous!! Anywho, I am STRUGGLING! I’m allergic to so many products and I have sensitive skin/scalp. So I can’t put the typical oils on my scalp. I agree with you with the tea tree oils being strong.. I found out I’m allergic to that. I’m also allergic to anything with shea, so the products in the locs kit, I cannot use. I wanted to know what type of shampoo do you recommend? I know I can cure my scalp, but I don’t know how just yet. It’s dry/itchy/flaking. Help please! 😳😩
Oh no problem 🙂 I hope you get to enjoy the early stage of your loc journey. The low maintenance of it alone is enough to love it. Lol Welcome to the Loc Community! 😉🌹
thank youuu i’ve been looking everywhere for this video !! i have eczema and i’ve always struggled with itchiness on my scalp, locking it only made it worse.
Two strand twists; here’s the detailed video if you’re interested → th-cam.com/video/YnOl1bON3hY/w-d-xo.html I have a LOC FAQ in the description of all my vids in case you have other questions too 🙂👍🏽
I appreciate this cause… I’m 2 months into my journey and this past week my scalp has been ON ONE with the itching. Did a hot oil treatment and still struggled. I started my day, today, after watching this last night, and spritzed my hair, massaged that in. Then took my tea tree oil blend (there’s rosemary in it as well) and massaged that in. I’m not used to massaging my scalp. I didn’t really need to as a loose natural. But I’m learning how differently I have to treat my scalp with locs.
Your hair is amazing !! I went yesterday to get starter locks . What a waste of money I told her micro dreadlocks I didn't see a part in my hair the twists were medium I took it all out .
Oh nooo! I’m sorry to hear that 😩 that was one of the main reasons I started my set on my own because of fear that the stylists wouldn’t execute my vision like I wanted Lol I hope you have a better experience next time around, whether with another loctician or on your own. 😉🌹

@@lovethestage it should be noted that Candida is a yeast that can grow just fine without oxygen.

Oh yeah, using the stocking cap is a great technique! I know you were glad you didn’t listen. 😉🌹
Whats a stocking cap?
@@blackican1mp958 💀 it's a thin stretchy see through cap that goes on your head for washing/drying
A stocking cap is similar to a wig cap just longer
Dang it. I wish I'd thought of that.

Your hair is goals! I figured out that my hair likes water and to be washed every 2-3 weeks and so far so good. I always call my hair a plant 😂.
Thank you!! And yes, we NEED water! I don’t see how people do it Lol 😉🪴🌹

No conditioner. Conditioner job is to detangle

I love your hair it is very nice

I’ll have to try this oil because peppermint and tea tree oil doesn’t really stop the itching for me.
I love this mixture. I hope it can help you too 😉🌹
@Ivanna-Grace Parry right exactly! I did try rosemary and it definitelyyy helps with itching. 👍🏾
