This was really helpful. My loctician told me not to wash or do anything with my twists aside from wrap my head before bed. My scalp feels so dry, and i can see the flakes/dandruff. From watching other loc journey videos on youtube, not enough people include having itchy scalps like what I'm experiencing. I'm only a week into it now, but definitely don't want to deal with an itchy head for another 4 weeks until my retwist appointment. I'll try this and hope it works for me.
@@zakmo9455 I couldn't be happier with the process! After testing out different oils, I found that hemp seed oil and Vitamin E oil have helped the most with reducing the dryness & flakiness of my scalp. My locs are long enough to put into ponytail and a pineapple style now. Thanks for asking!
Thank you do much for sharing. ❤️ Great advice and content. I just started my loc journey one week ago. I have always wanted locs. Decided to begin locs after cutting two feet of hair off. Now that my TWA is growing out it’s a great time to start locs.
@@CamcorderBanks how long do they take cause it’s been around 2 months and they don’t even look like they’re close to locking. And my head been itching so much I just might scratch my roots out
Good question. I would not recommend you use locking gel to moisturize your hair. Only use it when your retwisting. Instead, use rose water to soften, moisturize and train your coils.
Hey I got a question for starter Locs what should I tell the barber twist them going to the back or get them twisted downward angle I’m tryna get them Waka Flocka dreads lol
Don’t look at it as an “ugly stage” it’s more of your hair experiencing a developmental/growth period. Your hair is adjusted to loc form. As for itching try to find some light natural oils to use on your scalp or aloe Vera
Yes. It really does effect your loc journey. Try to avoid scratching it by using oils. And if you have to scratch, use a silk du-rag and scratch only a little.
Will you be taking the next step and starting your locs journey?
I started Friday
I washed my hair good b4 i went to get it started but my head is itchy asf rn

Try using mielle oil or other oils for your scalp. Put a bit in your palms and rub on your head

Really helped cuz I'm intching like crazy
I just tap on my head 😔 and now I feel dumb🥺
Does it itch bad bro In the beginning?
Good question. It itches bad when you don’t oil your scalp. When it’s dry, you will have itching situations happening.
Camcorder Banks Ight thanks bro
Hey I got a question for starter Locs what should I tell the barber twist them going to the back or get them twisted downward angle I’m tryna get them Waka Flocka dreads lol
That’s a good question. Both are good techniques. But I prefer to have them going to the back
The itch is real man, oh man
Exactly. Lol.
whats your opinion on wild growth hair oil
It’s very helpful to use. It can be pretty heavy. So you have to watch the amount you use.
When you put on the durag, is it ok to tie it tight to the head? Or should it be loose?
Neither. It shouldn’t be in between. Don’t make it too tight. And it shouldn’t be loose either. It’s should be snug enough to stay on.
I use a sponge to twist my locs, every morning is that gonna help?
All various ways for getting locs are helpful. If you use the sponge method, it will be helpful to START your locs.
i used the sponge to start my locs to grow my hair i was doing it for about 4 months til my hair was long enough to get comb twist
What kind of brims you wear with what?
+David Pearson I wear New Era 47 hats.
I’m in The Ugly stage now and my hair is itching like crazy I don’t like that.

_ not eco gel
Im on my 3rd month rn
Welcome to the club. Keep the journey going🙌🏾
I use my hand to itch my starter locs you think it will effect it locing up?
Yes. It really does effect your loc journey. Try to avoid scratching it by using oils. And if you have to scratch, use a silk du-rag and scratch only a little.
Camcorder Banks thank u I,
just ordered sum oil
So is it still going to locs up rn or I have to get Another retwist then stop itching it?
Your hail will still loc up. It just prolongs that journey. Just try your best not to scratch too much.
is it fine if some of your hair is still an afro because i missed some and the rest is dreads
_ Good question. I’d recommend getting your stylist to twist it so they can begin locking evenly
appreciate the videos but yo get to the point
