  • Test at the edge of Mainflingen time signal transmitter coverage area. WVA-430E (the left) always gets synchronized , LCW-M100 (the right one) does rarely.
Unfortunately Casio does not publish sensitivity of their watches.

My guess is one is made of chromed resin and other is titanium or steel which interferes with waves more

You have to hold down bottom right button and press top right twice. I believe it's a test for radio frequencies. J4 seems to be the 40kHz Japan station, J6 the 60kHz one, L is for London, G is for Germany, and U is for US. To get out of the menu you have to press the light button twice until the display says NG

I used to have a LCW M170 (same module as the one to the right) and I live some hundreds of km outside the area of reach of the German and British atomic clocks. The watch was able to receive signal in the night if I was wearing it, but not if I had left it on the table next to the bed or during the day.

It varies greatly between Casio models for some reason. Not sure if they use different antenna's or position them differently or that it's purely a matter of the material used for the case. My GM-W5610 needs to be close to a window and facing it to get a signal for instance but I also have a baby-G-Steel (MSG-W100G) that doesn't really care where it is or in what position, it always picks up the signal on the first attempt.

I have LCW-M100DSE and have no problem with signal received at all. Long vawe signals are best at night so try to do tests at night when they should be done.

Interesting. I just purchased a watch with unit 5161 similar to the one on the right. Could the two watches be operating on different bandwidths?

I have WV-59J with module 3053 and it does not receive as well as my older Casio. I did a similar side by side during the day. Casio also seems to be lazier about doing their inhibition compensation on wave ceptors. Much larger error per day without syncing.

I never get an error on my watch. Maybe try ctrl alt delete

Anyone knows where I could buy the left one (WVA -430 E).? This is the only watch I have owned that I ever lost (it actually got stolen) and getting a used one , even if it does not work would be greatly appreciated.

Plastic case vs steel case perhaps?

WVA-430E is partly plastic , I do not remember LCW-M100 ( I returned it back to Amazon) but it might be the reason for better sensitivity
