Last week my brother and his wife were bumped from an overbooked Emerates flight from UK to Australia. They were put up in a 5 star hotel and flew 16 hours later. They also received 2 free return flights to Europe to use in 48 months. Excellent compensation.
On the topic of benefits within alliances on other airlines: I'm FlyingBlue Gold and when flying Delta I do get the benefit of choosing free extra legroom seats by choosing exit row seats (granted, no Comfort+). I'm curious as to what other benefits Star Alliance or Oneworld offer over Skyteam that extend to all their alliance airlines? (since that's often highlighted as a drawback of ST)
Hi Dan... and Alex loved the podcast have been following from the first episode... and love this episode... anyways a few days ago I just got on a flight from Jakarta to KL on MH where as on every flight I take I would research on the aircraft that would operate... to my surprise the flight I was on was operated by a 737-800 that was involved in an incident 2 yrs ago... I was wondering if yall have been in an aircraft which operated back after an incident and what are your thoughts & feelings on them ?
Delta Air Lines said Tuesday it has entered into a partnership with startup Riyadh Air with the goal of operating flights between the United States and Saudi Arabia. Riyadh Air, which plans to begin passenger flights next summer, is backed by Saudi Arabia's sovereign-wealth fund and is part of the country's plan to diversify its oil-based economy and boost tourism. Atlanta-based Delta and Riyadh did not give a timetable for beginning flights or financial details around their partnership. Their CEOs said neither airline is taking an ownership stake in the other.
Just like our student pilot eventually has to fly solo, you have to learn how to host the podcast without your co-host. Amazing job, dan. Still, can't wait for alex to come back with a vengeance next week...

What does this mean for the "rumor" of them joining star alliance (as they announced a number of codeshares with *A members in the last weeks)?
