    Jerry, GREAT VIDEO! Thanks! I followed your instructions, and the hammer reliably shoots my carry ammo. I adjusted the mainspring until it wasn't 100%, and then adjusted it until it was. BUT, under recoil of this 125Grain Underwood ammo, the trigger return spring fails to return to forward position every other shot! NOT reliable. Is there something I should do to make this completely return? The L-fram .44 is new and has had only 7 rounds, to my knowledge, through it. HELP!

    Hi Jerry, nice content. 1 question, would you recommend for the 929 or is it already "tuned"?

  • @cdw3423
    @cdw3423 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Is the reason you need certain ammunition because some primers may require more of an impact to ignite?

    • @hardtack8776
      @hardtack8776 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes,
      Some primers are harder than others.
      FYI - Winchester primers are notorious for being harder than the other major brands.
      If your gun will shoot them it will generally shoot the others.

      Back in the 70s-80s, cci got the job done and were priced good, verses some of the others, for what many of us looked for. Seems funny after all these years to hear federal,,, time changes many things. @@flinch9748 Thank you for the update. 🖖LLAP

    Jerry, Sir would I be able to change the cylinder from a 6 shot to a 7 shot by just changing the cylinder on my 686-6, Pro Series. Much thanks.

    I wish somebody had something like this about Ruger.

    • @grahamohea2424
      @grahamohea2424 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are aftermarket spring kits for Rugers and videos on TH-cam on how to install them. The internal mechanisms for a Ruger are completely different from a Smith (I personally prefer Ruger revolvers overall, but I find Smiths are easier to work on), so the instructions here won't work, but the basic idea is still the same: replace the hammer spring and trigger return spring. I had an SP-101 that had a horrible trigger when I first got it, but new springs and polishing up the internals has given it the best trigger of all of my wheelguns now. I've never had problems with light strikes either

  • @gunguy6530
    @gunguy6530 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    what type of primers are you using they would have to be soft, so not light strike is this correct as my 586 really struggles as we can not get federal primers now and limited supply and now we are getting reamed $180/1000

    Great information!
    The details such as some of the screws on the side plate are different than others.
    I could not find any information on this specific tip,not even on the S&W website when looking at the owners manual for my 357.
    I almost ruined my gun when I was putting the side plate back on Because I wasn’t sure which screws went where. There’s three screws and mine were different and the threads are very delicate if you get the order wrong.

    You Tube is full of **it. Back in the good old days of You Tube (2006-2012) One would see a lot more of really instructional firearms video. I saw one person machine a a replacement slide for some kind of automatic pistol and another person machined rare brass center fire cartridges.

      Entire legitimate gunsmithing channels have been deemed not educational.. hard to believe it's an American company.

    Can this be done with the 642 airweight?

    • @theparalexview785
      @theparalexview785 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Model 642 Airweight has a coil mainspring rather than the leaf spring shown in this video. The trigger return spring is a similar small coil spring.
      Wilson, Wolff and Apex all offer coil spring replacements for the 642. Mine has a lighter Wilson mainspring and Apex trigger return spring.

    Just an FYI, regular driver bits may be hollow ground but are still a bit wedge shaped.
    They don't fit screws the same and they don't offer the right sizes.
    You want proper gunsmithing drivers / bits, but skip the Chinese Wheeler engineering junk.
    Go with Chapman, Grace, or Brownells.
    Especially the Chapman, their driver bits are on another level.

    • @1014p
      @1014p 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Um none of the bits I use have this fit issue. Just regular harbor freight or Lowes product. It would be unusual to remove more metal like this when there is an actual standard dimension or patent design.

    • @TylerSnyder305
      @TylerSnyder305 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@1014p
      Standard dimension?
      I have not noticed any sort of standard.
      I have noticed such a variety of screw sizes, but maybe you just have to experience proper bits to notice the difference.
      With general purpose driver bits you won't get the variety of thicknesses or the variety of widths, both of these are important.

    Great video. Too bad it is poorly shot. The camera is too far away from the mechanism. As to me, I know what you’re doing, but for somebody who does not, it doesn’t help much.
    Thx anyway, you’re a master 👍👍
    But not in camera angle 😉😁.

    Take it to a gun smith? Ha ha if it isn’t a Glock, S&W, or AR with an interchangeable part. Don’t waste your time. Heck most can’t even answer simple issues one may have. Just go x amount an hour plus ammo… If its anything else they he and haw making it clear they are simple tasked. Thats at least my experience here.
