Really love this movie, I like how it focuses less on cringe humour and really raises the stakes. Apart from the over the top action tf3 is my favourite just below tf1

Seeing this in theatres in the summer of 2011 was an unforgettable experience. I did watch Age of Extinction and The Last Knight, but I didn’t like both of those movies. You should watch and react to the prequel movie Bumblebee next because everyone loved that movie.

As a native Chicagoan, it did my heart proud seeing you wear a Chicago Bulls t-shirt while watching this movie. A large majority of the filming was done here; and I was fortunate enough to be working nearby at several of the Downtown locations.
I was 10 years old and my grandpa took me downtown to watch the city get blown up. I saw Optimus and Bumble bee in person
Grandparents are in the marina towers and we were looking at the final fight scenes lots of blanks going off and sparks. Somewhere lies the camera we used the whole weekend
I never understood these type of comments, then sweet girl was filmed down my street. Pretty dope.
It hits different when the carnage is happening in your city. I was genuinely feeling uncomfortable seeing all the buildings in downtown getting destroyed and felp epic when they were flying with the suits from Sears Tower.
Even tho there are still a lot of movies filmed in Chicago, it's not even near the amount of the ones filmed in NYC or LA. I imagine the people living in NYC and LA probably getting numb when always these cities are the targets in most action movies, but it kind of makes it more impactful for other people when you see your city destroyed.
Peter Cullen has gone on record saying his favorite moment in the franchise was when Optimus got to meet Buzz Aldrin.
"Revenge of The Fallen" was sadly the victim of the 2008 writers strike....most films in 2009 had half to zero finished script. This one was a massive improvement. As a lifelong Transformers fan since '84 the next two are different but very good.

This came out in 2011 avengers 2012. I heard that avengers took a lot of inspiration from dark of the moon. From the shops and army to the portal plot
It was satisfying to have Leonard Nimoy voice Sentinel Prime, especially with the bit of foreshadowing when Wheelie mentioned this is the one where Spock goes nuts.
And having him quote himself with "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few"
@@Carnyx72 There is a report that Leonard Nemoy actually wanted them in himself, knowing it would make total sense. I hated Sentinel Prime, but in a good way. He is the best villain of these films.

The reason Optimus was so aggressive towards Shockwave was because in the comics, Shockwave killed a multitude of Autobots, including his GF Elita-1
Also the Optimus v Megatron “fight” made somewhere sense, think about it, Megs was battle damaged from the last movie, he never fully recovered hence the hole in his head, and he wasn’t expecting Optimus to kill him when he offered the truce. In the comics they give a much better ending where Optimus accepts his truce and Megs takes the Decepticons back to Cybertron
Dark of the Moon is arguably the best Bayverse movie, I really like it.

If you ever want to see Transformers content with well written plot and compelling, diverse characters I recommend watching the TV show Transformers Prime.
Beast wars also works but has worse cgi. The writing is excellent though.
Don't forget Animated.
Leonard Nimoy has a long association with Transformers. He voices Galvatron in the original G1 Transformers film. And he was great at it.

Since you're watching older movies with great action I highly recommend the Nicholas Cage Ghost Rider movies which is a Marvel character.

I was absolutely shocked at Sentinel Prime’s betrayal the first time I saw this
The ending was changed bc of an early leak thanks to Amazon which is why it felt so abrupt. The og ending would have Optimus and Megatron have a sick 2v1 against Sentinel ending with Optimus using Sentinel’s rust cannon against him. After the fight, Prime and Megatron would’ve had some dialogue before Megatron calling off the Decepticons and leaving to try rebuild whatever was left of Cybertron (Cybertron wouldn’t have collapsed in this version of the story).
The movie's ending was actually gonna be completely different originally. But they changed it when the novelization of the movie with that ending got leaked.
Megatron would've teamed up with Optimus against Sentinel, stating that he's tired of fighting and wants the war to end.
They use their combined power to defeat Sentinel and end the fight.
But Cybertron's transport is completed and Megatron makes a truce. The Autobots stay on earth and the Decepticons return to Cybertron in order to rebuild it.
Fr, Michael Bay was furious or at least upset that this was the case. At least the ending still kinda makes sense if you think about it, like even Optimus knows himself, "How could you ever trust a Decepticon?" lol. But yeah that original ending this film was intended to contain would've been much better, not just for the audience, but for Rotten Tomatoes.
There are conflicting reports on why Megan Fox didn't return for #3. The official story is that on the set of #2, she got very annoyed at director Michael Bay acting like a tyrant on set, which is apparently a common trend with his movies, by the way. She was quoted as saying ''He was marching around, giving orders like Hitler.'' Steven Spielberg who was an executive producer, learned of this whose father served in WWII and himself directed Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan, got Megan fired from #3. The unofficial story based on Fox's account is she did in fact make that comparison to Bay, but Spielberg didn't have her removed. Instead, the comment caused a rift between her and the cast and crew, which caused Fox to withdraw from #3 on her own will.
On the special features for the third film, which is only on the Blu-Ray 3D edition, Bay commentated that Megan did attend a script reading for #3 but without going into context, didn't reprise the role for whatever reason. He did wish her the best in future roles, though. The two ended up working together on the most recent live action TMNT movies. Bay was a producer on those projects, not the director. Although many assume her being in those films at all is enough proof there's no bad blood between them. The only other thing I saw Fox in was Jennifer's Body, an awful and campy horror film that pulled all the cheesy punches imaginable. Couldn't even finish it.
People may hate on most of the Transformers movies but I feel as though all of them are great in the own aspects
I loved watching this with my cousins during sleepovers. We didn't care about the plot at all, we just wanted to see giant robots fighting each other.
Was this film perfect? No, none of them were. Did it have its flaws? Of course, they all did. But in my eyes, this was the best film in the Transformers franchise, and my personal favorite. This movie did a really good job of making you really fear the Decepticons.

I remember being so stoked when Optimus showed back up and said "We take the battle to them". The heartbreak tease made this such a banger film ! Also all the soundtracks by I think Steve Jablonsky are so good.
I remember i loved this when it came out even if I was a little dissapointed megan wasnt in it. And I did think there was a little too long fight/explosion scenes at some parts. But its still such a nostalgic feeling watching it back. I remember I wanted my own bee for so long after this haha🤍

Optimus has really amazing character progression, a good and honorable leader in 1 to executing sentinel and killing megatron when there's a chance for peace, which would've prevented a lot of future problems
Believe it or not, that wasn't actually how TF DOTM was supposed to end.
Like the comic and novel adaptations for Transformers Dark of the Moon the ending to them had shown some pages and text of Megatron attempting to declare a truce with Optimus Prime, either him accepting the truce then working together to defeat and kill Sentinel Prime or he declines the truce but decides to spare Megatron's life anyway. That was meant to be the real ending to this movie than the one that we actually got which would've been even better for the audience and could've probably made a better rating on Rotten Tomatoes. But there was a system error leaking the novel or comic adaptations on Amazon without reason or explanation on why this happened a couple of months before this movie was even released leaking and spoiling the ending to the public and it was made worldwide on several Transformers related websites. This made Michael Bay furious or at least upset because he was so willing to release this movie with a truly great ending of Megatron and Optimus Prime debating about the truce or accepting the truce and then battling together to defeat Sentinel Prime. For better detail about what I'm saying, watch one of Theorymus' videos explaining why the ending was a bit too convenient or controversial for some of the Transformers fans and/or public.

I like this movie. I kind of lost interest in the franchise a little later on in the series but the 1st 4 or 5 movies I enjoyed. Seeing Tyrese really makes me want to watch the Fast & Furious franchise though. I would love if Seb watched those movies.
In the book Optimus and Megatron actually teamed up to fight Sentinel.
This movie was basically Infinity War for Transformers and it was popular like Infinity War back in 2011

They actually filmed the wingsuit sequence with IMAX cameras, meaning they jumped those huge heavy cameras out of a plane to film those dudes flying.

Believe me, when I first saw the death of Ironhide, I was heartbroken. He was my favorite Autobot, second the Optimus Prime.
People won't admit it, but it was a very fun movie for its time. Ironhide's & Starscream's death sucked, but they had really good plot twists.
