Thank you so much Tom Knudsen, glad it comes though because I really do care!! We've all struggle to fully love ourselves, but I know I have found these exercises helpful and hope they can help others too!
Thank you for all of your meditations and information! I've been meditating for the last 3yrs or so, and the progress hasn't been easy, but it was so worth it. After helping a good friend and supporting her for a long period of time, I rested for a few days and thought I'm recharged. Needless to say, that I felt more critical towards myself at that time. Yesterday eve it just blew up in my face when after helping my family all day long, I suddenly started crying. I knew I wasn't taking care of myself. So, today I took the day off to do what matters to me, to give myself some self-love once again. It will always be a work in progress, but I'm getting better at it each day. Your content has helped me a lot on this journey, thank you so much ♥
Good for you, carving out the time for self-care. SO important. And thank you for including me/my meditations in your journey - it's great hearing the feedback AND to have you as part of the KoW community :)
Actually, i think this is one of the best videos I've seen on YT. How did you come to make this video and reach out to others? You have a very warm and kind way of speaking and your confidence is very attractive.
Charlie Chase thank is so very kind of you! Thank you and sorry for the delay. I started making my videos for my students and then I found so many people who had questions on meditation and concepts that meditation deals with that I just kept making them for anyone really. Glad it could help, and I DO take requests so feel free to let me know if you have any questions :)
Hey there BintonB. The idea behind describing the sensation is just to notice how it physically feels in our bodies without getting wrapped up in the emotion. So we try to notice and describe the physical element. So, for example, when I feel anxious my chest feels tight, i might describe it as swirling in the centre of my chest, followed by a pulsing, it feels orange to me and tightness really is the overwhelming sensation. When we focus on a feeling as sensation it removes some of our feelings about the feeling and can make it easier to cope with. Does that help?
Kernel of Wisdom Mindfulness Meditation Thanks for retrieving my question. So if I was feeling angry toward someones I could say my forehead is pulsing and red which is a frustrating situation. How would it help lessen my emotions?
Good question BintonB. Basically, this practice separates the physical sensation of your emotions from the FEELINGS you have about your emotions. Essentially, it answers the question - what is the difference between pain and suffering? Pain is "what is" it is a sensation that is happening, suffering is the emotion we add to pain and it is often a lot trickier than the pain itself. We tend to be attached to positive feelings and quiet averse to negative feelings and so by seeing that the feeling itself is just a sensation - neither good nor bad in itself - we realize that it is US who makes something feel "bad" or "good" and that realization often relieves some of the suffering. Does that help it make more sense?
Kernel of Wisdom Mindfulness Meditation Yeah, I think I understand it a bit better. Essentially you're making yourself numb to any pain by not associating any emotions to a positive/negative situation.
A little like that, but without "numbing" necessarily needing to be an intention. It feels a little more like "separating" the pain from the suffering, the actual sensation from the feelings about the sensation, which makes each less powerful.
+Jànai Santiago body scans (th-cam.com/video/OnScbRiRpeM/w-d-xo.html or th-cam.com/video/I99XUAfWm4U/w-d-xo.html) can really help enhance empathy which tends to help us feel more warm and connected toward others. Meditations to do with compassion such as Metta (th-cam.com/video/EBrnHl7gp-o/w-d-xo.html) or this one (th-cam.com/video/PzYGO-6Dh-s/w-d-xo.html) can also help. In general, it depends on what you think might be limiting your ability to give kindness to others though. This can take quite a bit of meditation and self reflection since it is a relatively broad subject, so meditations of all sorts can help you explore the question even further. For example, some people have a lot of hurt or anger because others have treated them badly in the past and those feelings make it hard to be kind so they might need to focus on self-compassion and healing (i.e., th-cam.com/video/jCpAxnEJuJY/w-d-xo.html or th-cam.com/video/1abgQPyq8p8/w-d-xo.html. Others have a fear that people won't take them seriously if they are too nice and so they might want to work on fear and hesitation or feelings of lacking (i.e., th-cam.com/video/LyjITGYrSkw/w-d-xo.html). Some people may need to forgive others (th-cam.com/video/RWi0BnO0QvU/w-d-xo.html) or work on feelings of jealousy (th-cam.com/video/-4tTA_9c-Oo/w-d-xo.html). Some people just get distracted and need to work on listening better (i.e., th-cam.com/video/TU6cCVu-wWo/w-d-xo.html). Does that help at all?
The thing that makes this video so great is how loving and compassionate you are. It really shows that you care, and that's inspiring. Thank you!

Can you elaborate on the 13:15 section. I do not understand the describing sensation part
