Still playing this. The Legends team has done such a good job of bringing this back and running it professionally. Your experience will differ if you're on another server, but even then the game is just still so amazing. Something to keep in mind with choosing a server: you'll find that it's much better in the long run to pick a server run by a solid team than to just pick the server that sounds coolest. Some of the other servers have some super cool ideas implemented, new planets, better combat systems, but they're operated in a very amateur way. So just be careful which place you call home.
Eight years of crafting and collecting in-game items, billions of creds and even player memorials for people who had died in real life, all just wiped away in an instant. That BH grind took me 6 months because I couldn't find a Master BH to complete my training lol
I had no idea they still had servers. This was the first MMO I ever got and it would not work on my PC at the time. I remember I had the box for years waiting for a computer I could afford would work. I went to college and finally convinced my fam to help me get a modern PC and that is when SWTOR came out. I just missed this by a year or so.
Hell yeah it's still up! Until a couple if years ago I played SWGemu regularly, playing some of the other servers on occasion. Emu usually had between 1200 and 1800 online. Not sure if that was accounts or characters online as Emu allows, or at least did, two characters per account to be loged in at once, which made for an interesting way to play the game. Still, it's a vast world, galaxy, and you can go quite awhile without seeing any active human players depending on where you trek. It's a good game but its pretty complicated and slow. Great crafting. Game could be tedious though, even with macros.
Man I remember being so stoked for this to come out, even bugged my mom into getting me the collector's edition or w/e it was called for my birthday. Had no idea it was an MMO (or what even was an mmo) and coudn't get mom to shell out $15. Couldn't even do that for runescape's $5 either iirc xD
Hey Micky, you don't need to buy a starship, just go sign up with one of the pilot factions and they'll set you up with a free one! The Smuggler Alliance (*cough* pirates *cough*) pilot guild is located in the back room of the Mos Eisley cantina. Alternatively you can become an Imperial pilot by going to the Imperial HQ in Bestine, also on Tatooine.

If they have JTL in this version, can't you just join one of the three factions to get a free ship? Should be Imperial, Rebel, and Freelancer, but I forget where any of the recruiters are. Tbh I'm amazed I still remember anything for this game after how long its been.
I have so many memories of swg i played from 2004-2010, this version i excelled at, I was an alien shipwright the top of my server who became a spy or smuggler lurking for jedi. I killed many darkside jedi with pistol and stun baton. Killed a lot of bh after my bounty. Avoided medic, lightside jedi, they outhealed my dmg. Had an exceptional jabba fighter due to prenerf components, it had unmatched agility and capacities to equip heavy parts on light fighter and a shipwright alt to support its min/maxing.
Great game, great memories from early teens. I can't stress the greatness of that experience enough. I was a star wars kid and now I had my dream fullfilled.

My first mmorpg back in the early 2000's, the sandbox in this game was awesome, so many memories and friendships that have lasted to this day. I got into SWG Emu a couple of years ago and it's awesome that you can play the game the way it used to be before they changed it I did get quite bored after a while. I think it had to do with the fact so many buildings were abandoned and this game needs a decent flow of people and new players to keep the economy circulating. Still really cool that enthusiasts are keeping the game alive. Back than I used to fantasize about the future of mmos and what a SWG sequel or sequel of a sequel would be like, well fast forward to now and the mmorpg genre is almost dead imo. F2P ruined how mmo's are created and the success of WoW made almost all developers focus on theme park experiences.
You're right about that the theme park experience being the staple for MMOs now instead of the sandbox I think ashes of creations is the closest thing to being non theme park but if there is no death or decay to items and resources it puts more stress on the developers to bring new content in all the time because of the theme park nature of it. The devs are more focused on turning out content than they are at refining the game they have, you can see it here that in a sandbox scenario the developers have a more free time of developing the world versus developing content that will last you probably an hour or three before you ask. Anything else?
@@revan1202 It's like the sandbox aspect of mmorpg's has sort of separated into the current survival crafting games with co-op which are of course fun but I do miss that feeling of when I was figuring out all the stuff you could do in SWG and how it felt that you mattered to the economy and the playerbase in general. You weren't some hero on a predetermined path to save the world. No. You were just an average citizen in the Star Wars universe where you could truly forge your own path.

@@llab3903 ah some people may know the terms. I meant I was a game master for star wars galaxies (in game customer support). Help fix quests, reimburse items, punish player offenders in game (bans etc) things like that. There was so much love for the game.
7:50 Micky saying "Dagobah" activates my google assistant for some reason.
Loved the freedom of doing anything.
Wow, I didn’t except more Star Wars Galaxies
Unexpected but not unwelcome
Great game, great memories from early teens.
I can't stress the greatness of that experience enough.
I was a star wars kid and now I had my dream fullfilled.
The KOTOR music throughout is so nice to hear
Is this the strat of ANOTHEr Irish TH-camr doing yearly videos on one particular franchise? :O
That's good timing, I'm pretty sure CallMeKevin's "Fable but it's 20**" only has a couple of years left.
Here's to Star Wars Galaxies in 2026!
I played this last year for the first time since 2010. Almost hit max level on my commando. It's real fun I enjoy the mechanics but there just isn't enough people around for me to justify playing it as much as I do other mmos. BTW Micky you are forgetting to get buffed by a doctor and an entertainer before heading out.
Star Wars Galaxies: Speeders affect water when you fly over it.
Battlefield 2042: That's a legacy feature.
Thank to you I saw that swgemu finally replaced Basilisk. What a time to be alive!
8:28 your speeder was right there ahead of you when you forgot where it was.
A new swgemu server came up very recently and is quite hoppin rn. Very good times, lots of homies in Mos Eisley.
Absolute favorite game of ALL TIME for me! It did everything and was ahead of its time. I miss everything. Loved my shop on Tarquinas, loved crafting and selling everything from crates of Swoops to crates of Vasarian Brandy! REALLY hope SWG is remastered and made into a new game. Think of how many people it would reach! :)
I missed out playing all of these Star Wars games, I really need to start playing
The best mmo will never die.
It's 2023. Now we can start hounding you for more
A few XMAS ago the whole server killed a GIANT GRINCH
As a fellow Imperial on legends, and its almost 2023 lets link up Mick and group up for next vid!
Play more Star Wars Galaxies!
My First toon was a Ranger wow loved him. I got paid so much for finding stuff from other players. I miss this game so much.
thank you for doing this Video
This looks interesting, I will give it a try!
as soon as u said he looked like linus it cant be unseen
Just remember playing this only a year ago, got a mount from some dude i ran into (his house) in the middle of nowhere.. went.. somewhere.. miles on end.. nowhere.. kept traveling.. got lost.. uninstalled.. 10/10 would recommend
All the pop in takes me back.
To do Bespin, you need to complete the Hoth Instance and then talk to the Hoth Trooper in Auralia. Its a bit of a pain in the ass and the questline is...kind of meh but its content. Will def help if you want to do it!
Lmao that pink az speeder such a chad move
Great vid! Still holdin out for Glover!
Me: i'm playing star wars battlefront right now.
I would love to see that.
now i wanna play this game again, after 20 years... almost 20!!!
Me and my dad and brother used to play when it first came out waaayyy before you could just choose jedi old man grinded this game so hard and became a Jedi gonna re download for some good memories
