Ya gotta strip the wires when you scrap these days or it isn’t even worth it. That 2 lb cord - clip the brass pins off and save em up (be surprised at how quickly they rack up w/ a junk removal gig, most plug ends are brass in general, even the silvery looking ones, brass is 2nd best to copper), strip it with any other decently thick wire and save/toss the little ones, at $3.45 per lb in my area..you had an easy $5-7 in copper there.
Someone else already pointed out the missed chunk of aluminum but meh lol. All in all, you should’ve made an easy $12-14 here, and that’s lowballing the steel-shred price..not entirely worth the time but once in a while for some pocket change..save the best of the good stuff you find when junking!
I appreciate the feedback brother! Thanks for watching 🤝
Dryer motor looked aluminum when you cut into it. Definitely not worth taking apart vs just turning in as electric motor. Always scratch the copper to see if its actually copper or aluminum.
Yeah, it's definitely not worth it. Thank you for the feedback boss!
Scrapping doesn't pay as much as it used it sadly. Just stock pile up on your scrap metal until you can get a full trailer load or two.
Yeah, it's gotta make sense when making the trip!
That is the way I do it. You also have to know what you have and obviously you do. Shred steel is very low right now. At least copper aluminum are staying up there a little little bit.
Bro I lost an eye hammering stuff with out eye protection. Please dont ever do that again. Take it from a guy down to one eye.
Ouch, I hate to hear this. But I appreciate it. It will definitely help me think twice next time 😢🙏
Been wearing those wrangler cargo pants in construction for years. Definitely worth the money. Pockets come in handy
Good to know boss 🤝
U can make good money doing it bro but in volume all the scrap u get strip and put all motors in barrels until u get full barrel then harvest copper from them like I do .....there is good money in it if you do it right
I agree with you boss!
Dave here from Charlotte nc chin junk removal..am coming to Atlanta wood like to meet you bro
Pull up brotha!
At the beginning of the video, i was going to comment that you should do the math to see if it's even worth your time to do all this work. In the end, i found out. Dont waste your time bro 😂
Haha yep! 😂
You need to put in boxs.and
Billit.up so get good money. This is the sacrp rat 🐀 😤
I agree you gotta let it build up
I would be up for more videos like this there just something that grads my attention watching stuff getting took apart & smashed to kingdom come.
🇺🇲🦅⚖️
Haha yessir! Thanks for the comment ❤️
@@JackofHaulTrades
No doubt.
Anytime.
Love your channel bro !! Big love and respect from Baltimore Maryland ! Sparrows point to be exact
Thanks man! I just looked the place up 👌
Do you do a lot of fishing out there? 😂
Bro as much time it takes to comb through scrap I just always take it whole cause the time it takes isn’t worth the Pennie’s it pays and carhartt work pants not the jeans but the work pants in my opinion for the money are the best and I do lots of concrete and excavation work and they hold up really well and they are not much more than the Walmart pants
I'll look into some of these next! Thanks for the comment brotha! 🤝
@@JackofHaulTrades anytime brotha
Good educational video
Thanks for watching! 🫡
Hi Andre. I just started doing scrap videos and honestly just filmed a drier like the one in your video. I also had a motor from a washer that was the same as this one, I got cat fished by what I thought was copper also!!! I hit it with the grinder first though before harvesting and ya, white appliance motors are usually copper coated aluminum according to the guys at my yard..I'm learning too. My yard has a couple different way they buy tin..one is the 'shred' stuff..Tin that has other materials on it like plastic, wire and whatever and then they have what they call 'bailer' tin. That's just straight up tin with no foreign stuff, like that back panel off the drier would be bailer tin or the body of that drier with nothing else attached to it. I recently learned about the difference in the 2 kinds of tin after tossing everything into shred for $215 a ton where the bailer stuff pays $245 a ton currently. It's all about how much time you wanna invest into processing though. Better off to stockpile certain things like Red at Big Country does. If you get a few minutes maybe check out my video? Appreciate your content man and I really respect your hustle and drive!!!!!
It's definitely a learning game in the beginning! And yes, it takes a lot of time to separate everything properly. I appreciate the support boss I'll check out your video when I get some free time 💪
You would did bettet fixing dryer.and selling it.
100%
I was thinking that Too!
@@johnsmith-wd5sqme three lol 23:35
I think you missed a big piece of aluminum on the dryer. The piece that where the knob to turn the dryer on and off, that is usually aluminum. Good job though.
It's not a big piece as per the weight of it but it's super easy to grab and therefore Worth removing
Oh man I didn't know that was aluminum lol. We'll I learned something new 🫡🤝
Brother bin loads 40 yard 20 yard bins or dumpsters make good mony try going to different scrap yards don't stick with one 2 appliances is not enough you need trailer loads to become a prefecinal scraper
Scrap pays goofñd if you take by tones
Plus colect crap frap nabourhoods you pass by
You will earn good money
I agree! I've had a loaded down dump trailer once and got like $600 for my 15-yard, but that's very rare 😂
Bro I fix and resale direct drive washers and dryers and they are fairly easy to fix. You are stepping over dollars to pick up dimes. that dryer would sale easily for 175.00. I pay scrap
iron guys 25.00 a piece for them
Yep. Dryers are extremely easy to fix!
Pulling that copper out of them motors is the way to go bro I got some videos on gow to do that fast and easy check em out
I saw some you do it very efficiently 👌
Scraping is a hard way to make a buck.
That's a fact! Thanks for the comment boss 😎
I started wearing the Wrangler All Terrain Cargo pants about 2 years ago they are a game changer in this Georgia heat and my only complaint is the mesh pockets everything gets caught up and I almost always put my phone in my back pocket and unfortunately the stitches don’t hold up well. Also make sure not to ever dry them on high heat my wife melted 2 pairs of them they have spots where they got too hot. After a few more washes the hot spots came apart.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing brotha 🤝
Always worth scrapping out everything u get bro upgrading the money is the only way bro
If you have the time to do it absolutely!
@@JackofHaulTrades that's why u do it on ur down time
I run a similar business over here in Australia. I separate and then stockpile all my scrap until I have a decent load for the scrap yard. It doesn’t pay anywhere near as well as junk removal BUT you need to remember you’ve already been paid to collect it!
Yessir plus you don't have to pay to dump it!
Use a band saw or sawzall to cut through stuff. It’s much easier than banging/breaking with a hammer.
It definitely does 💪
You made a video so it pays for itself
In the long run it will! 🤟
As a junk removal company owner, besides ACs, no money in taking apart white appliances.. scrap em and go to the next job. Save wires in a barrel and anything easy to grab or heavy but taking apart a washer is wild to me. Love your content, keep it up.
I appreciate the feedback my friend. I hope business is going well for you! 🙏
@@JackofHaulTradesthat guy seems to know what you need to do just cut wire and anything easy don't waste your time but doing it and find out for yourself if worth it maybe like me always had to be busy my two cents again thanks 9:28
Those plugs will sell for $5 to $10 all day long. Make more than scrapping them.
I believe it! I just wanted to scrap it for the expirence 😂
If you want to make more money scrap that old dodge. Glad you moved on from the skinny jeans.
Lol absolutely not 😂
These scrap places now days are a joke. Big waste of time!
Unless you're coming in with a decent amount of scrap, it's totally a joke 😂
But it does help pay for fuel a little bit 👌
I agree that was a lot of work for not much💲, if you had a full trailer of appliances it might be better to just scrap them whole and that would be a lot less work
I agree. Or to just remove the motors and wires in bulk instead of cutting them open, because that's what takes the most amount of time honestly
build yourself a workbench with a vice on you will find it much easier love your videos keep them coming
I will one of these days! I just want to keep it out of the weather, so I might need to buy a car port or something first 😂
I appreciate the support boss 🙏
If I kneeled down that long with a grinder and sledge hammer my back would be broken.
Yeah I feel that. My back started hurting just watching what I did that day when editing the video 😂
next time weigh it with the trash can and then weight the trash can seperate and subtract the difference
That's the way to do it!
You left the aluminium front panel under the dryer controls
Next time I won't! Thank you
In my area you can sell those washer and dryer tubs for fire rings
I'll try that next! Thanks for the tip 🤝
It will all add up at the end of the month which then you should get a good payout 👍
Definitely! 🤟
Glad you took some time not really off but taking a little break and see if it pays to take apart but yes eye protection is important i was cutting reber for concrete and got a piece in my eye went and had it removed then years later was going for a m r i said needed x-ray of my head could tell where scar was on my eye from metal told me if did m r i with metal in it melts your eyeball like the stay puff marshmallow man in Ghostbusters so glad they did stay safe and have a good weekend holiday 10:31
Eye protection is a must. I need to take it more seriously. Thanks for the comment my friend ❤️ have a great weekend
I watch all your videos cause I mark them you are a hustler and not afraid of work I got me some wrangler jeans and they wear really good I'm the guy who worked at tree company and had dump trucks did like you anything to make money thanks for the response back 5:19
What happened to your new 16ft dump trailer? I have a 16ft dump trailer too similar to yours but with a scissor hoist. Keep up the good work!
It's been getting rented by Hammer quite often so I just let him keep it at his house 😂...stay tuned for tomorrow's video if you want to see it again! Will do brotha 🫡
@@JackofHaulTrades Hammer making you that money! 16ft is a beast! I'll look out for the video 👍🏻
@johnnymojica8961 Yessir! That trailer is awesome. I'm not turning down any rentals. I need that money 😂
Early Saturday morning hustling
Trying to brotha! 💪
That's exactly how to not make friends with the scrap yard... All 3 of the materials you argued over would've gotten you maybe a total of $4 more lol
Haha yep. You are totally right boss!
It's the bs scrap yards not pay out enough they the ones making money and those scales r rigged up
You're not the first one to say that, so some must be rigged 🤷♂️
They can control the weights at the sand and gravel company had a friend got a load of material Dot got him set scale back to where he was good big truck scales we had a pump in a pit like sump pump drained out when got water in there if a lot of rain and pump not working would check to see 35:57
Some people call this micros scrapping. I call it just being smart. Good video.
Thanks for watching boss! 🫡
You need to come to West Virginia. I’m about to scrap all my copper and brass for the year
Bet! I'm about to come just to make a video with you... I wish haha
Last year was about 10k
@dillonfrueh3056 sheeshhh!!! That's awesome man! Holiday money 👌
Your to use to the skinny jeans lol
I'm still going to use skinny jeans tho 😂
That look like the hardest job you trying take that disher motor off lol😂😂😂😂😂
Man taking that motor out was a pain haha
@@JackofHaulTrades i like watch your videos
@timwilliams2362 I appreciate the support boss! 🫡
Two good scrapable items that should bring you some $$$. Insulated wire and copper windings, good copper brother. Thanks for sharing this project with the scrapping community.🤔🤔👍👍. 😎😎⛏⛏🔥🔥
Thanks for watching boss! I appreciate the support 🤝💪
Those wranglers are the way to go!
Good pants for sure 🤟
New subscriber. Love your channel. You seem like a really good guy. Hard worker. Congrats on baby. Keep the awesome videos coming. Wish you nothing but success
I appreciate the support big time brotha! thank you ❤️
Broken aluminum rims will get you $15 each, but the tire must be removed. It is usually worth taking the back off the dryer, since there can be several dollars in change. Clip cords off vacuum cleaners and take cords off appliances. Not worth taking washers or dryers apart. You are a beast, Andre! You throw those appliances around like they don't weigh anything! Thanks for video!
Thanks for the comment boss! I appreciate you 🤝🫡
Bro that’s insane. But all scrap yards are 🚮 Next time you want to work for a buck an hour, I’ll fly you out to Texas and double it to work for me 😂
Hahahhaha great comment ❤️😎
They make handheld chisels that you can hit with a hammer. You also could buy an air hammer chisel as well but those get pricey. You cut inside out down close to the stator. Also could use wire cutters to remove coils
Yessir! If I continue to do this, I'm sure I'll get more efficient with time!
A bench and a vice would be handy
Yes. If I did it this was daily, I'd have no back 😂
It can be a lot of fun scrapping metal! Keep it up the videos!
Thanks brotha will do!
Right on on the pants, brother!
Thanks they will be more for tree work honestly
Keep the skinny jeans for date night l o l
@user-sm4lv3mx5n haha yep! I got nicer ones for dates 😂
Voce pode vender sem desmontar esses motores como motores eletricos, vale muito mais e quase o mesmo valor se desmontar
Um abraço do Brasil 🇧🇷🇧🇷
Yes, I agree. I learned that if it's not copper, it's not worth separating it 😂
if you can build a good pile up to be broken down and bring the stuff back in bulk youll make more. i would have broke those down and just put everything aside until i got more to bring in. I scrapped for 2 years before getting a better paying job and was making 100-300 every trip to the scrap yard. the more you go, the better relationship you build with the workers the more they are willing to give you a better deal
I agree you gotta let it build up to be profitable! Thanos for the comment boss 🫡
@@JackofHaulTrades no problem. thanks for making awesome videos. if i didnt get this new job i would have started my own junk removal company just from watching your videos. keep up the amazing work
@adamg1708 Will do! Sometimes working for someone is the way to go. Working for yourself is a lot to manage, plus you're not guaranteed a paycheck 🙃
Good luck to you my friend!
Where did you live in California?
Sacramento area!
I made 2k on copper motors and radiators. I saved it for a year from all my jobs. I work in pools so I get pool heaters, pumps motors and aluminum screen enclosures and stainless. You got to save it for a while for it to be worth it. Electricians and plumbers make a killing on scrap as well.
That's awesome 👌
I totally agree, you gotta let it build up to make sense! Thanks for the comment boss
End of year hustle cutting and scrapping copper and brass. Scrap the water heaters when I get about 100
