    One thing I consider extremely important, if you live in northern states or in Canada, where they use salt on the roads during the winter months, is to clean your brake slider pins. Whenever I swap my Summer tires for my Winters, and visa versa, I take the pins and brake pads out and clean/lube the pins to keep them from corroding and getting seized in the callipers. If this happens they may have to be cut out.

    This time of year I need to put on my All Weather tires here in the Pacific Northwest (Vancouver, BC), I install my old (2023) Ionic 5's 20" EV01+ wheels from Fastwheels the bolt pattern and offset are the same just the hub size requires an adapter (WHEEL CONNECT Hub Centric Rings, 67.1 to 64.1), they have my super great Michelin Cross Climate 2 235/R45-20's, the narrow profile to allow the tire to cut through the snow and also improve my efficiency during the cold. I also install my CYBERBEANS Shade for Tesla Model Y Glass Roof, with space blanket sandwiched between, to give better insulation during the cold weather to improve efficiency by reducing my heating load. Now I should be all set for my next mountain road adventure!!! Look out snow!

    Model X has directional tires, so you can’t rotate because it has the staggered fitment. With the MX i’ve never noticed any uneven wear even though you can’t rotate.

    For winter climates that use salt, cleaning/lubricating the brake calipers is also recommended by Tesla.

    Good looking out again BTG! Although my mileage is low on my 2020 MY I’ve had my tires rotated 3 times. They initially charged $50 now it’s $100 😂. So I’ll be doing these rotations myself moving forward 🤙🏾

    I have the 20” wheels on my MY, took it to Costco for the rotation and the brake caliper covers on the fron were rubbing, so they said the wheels were staggered and they rotated side to side, and also scratched them a lot. I still had some rubbing on one side, so I installed a small spacer. But next time I’ll do it myself. Based on your video I think it’s front to back? Thanks for sharing

      Radial tires don’t like rotating in opposite directions so typically the rotation is from front to back. Old-fashioned polyester non-radials could go any direction.

  • @vmexner
    @vmexner ปีที่แล้ว

    I always thought radial tires could not be rotated from right to left as shown for staggered setup. Am I just old school and not informed about modern tire tech?

  • @aaronbounds1336

    NEVER use an impact to install the nuts or bolts. Always start them by hand. Then use the impact.
    The first time you try to remove a cross threaded nut or bolt you will know why.

    • @bdtang
      @bdtang ปีที่แล้ว

      I would use the impact driver to remove the lug nuts only. You risk breaking the lug nuts or wheel bolt. Always use a put the lug nuts back on by hand and use a good torque wrench/gauge to make sure they’re to spec.

    It looks like that Tesla super seat cleaner is only available on Amazon. Why wouldn't Tesla have it on their website? Maybe they do and I missed it. But are you sure that's a real Tesla product and not just 409 that somebody put Tesla's logo on?

      I put a little bit of dishwashing liquid on a damp rag, then wipe the Tesla seats with that.

    • @Darrenhd2
      @Darrenhd2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not a Tesla product. I have a bottle and I can tell you it is very good. I've tried lots of different cleaners and the Tesla Super Seat Cleaner is by far the best at getting out even stubborn stains. Highly recommended. Follow the advice in this video and your seats will look near-new for a long time. (If someone knows how to get the stretch marks out from the heavily abused driver's side seat I'm all ears!).

    Tire rotation per 5k miles is too often. Just don't steer when the car is not moving and you can rotate every 15k-20k miles

      BTG laughed, probably thought what I initially did and thought you meant just drive the car straight only. but I know exactly what you mean, It bugs me so much when people turn the wheel rack to rack when parking when the car is not rolling even just a little bit. Rotations do more than even out just that wear, but still it's generally good practice

    No, no, no
    Don't depend on one jack to lift the whole side. Hydraulic jacks should not be use to keep the car lifted. The 10 cent seal can go and the car will go down with no wheels on them.

      Two Tesla service techs told me to pass on my rotations. They said the perfect balance of the car weight keeps tires even wear. One said every 20k miles is good.
